Powersets & Costume Stereotypes

What are the costume stereotypes for the various powersets?

When I see a normal body, a bear chest and pants, I think "Scrapper", because all the scrapper powersets seem to be are martial-arts based.

So, what other stereotypes are there?

Scrappers often wear street clothing, based on my experiences.

One scrapper primary is Martial Arts, that's all. Maybe there are quite a few MA scrappers based around or inspired by Asian culture - maybe Korean or Chinese martial arts, or Japanese manga or anime - but it's not to everyone's taste. Superheroes are an American thing, and this is a superhero game. My scrappers dress like comic-book superheroes, not anime sci-fi brawlers. The presence of so many "Dragonball-Z" toons may be disproportionate, but I wouldn't say they're a stereotype.

That's what I mean... martial arts isn't just weaponless combat, and is certainly not restricted to kicks. Five out of eight of the scrapper primaries are martial arts, with the exceptions being Dark, Fire and Spines. I don't mind this, but it seems that because some of the exotic elemental attacks (energy, earth, ice) aren't available to both tankers AND scrappers, we tend to see people creating characters with costumes in the theme of their power set. i.e. oriental-style scrappers and somewhat more exotic tankers.

This is based on my experiences and might not reflect the view of the majority of people the value of your property may decrease over time your home is a risk if you do not keep up the payments on a mortagage or other loan secured on it please read the label.

I think it's a law that Dark Defenders have to wear a hood and/or a tattered trenchcoat. In black, obviously.

Elemetal color theming - done to death. Four out of five fire-users wear red costumes. The rest don't wear costumes at all, and wear street clothing. Very few exceptions.
Especially noticeable with Dark Miasmists, who wear black - my Thugs/Dark is guilty of this, sadly, but he's wearing biker leather...

Over use on black is a little pet peevee of mine.

Seen so many people ruin good looking costumes by overusing black color. Making many details and such then just losing em all by picking a double dash of black.

Black should be used as a detail enhancer or contrast imo!

My Necro/Dark wear's a white suit with top hat and I thought that was a very obvious look for DM at the time........ Oh well

Must remember for my upcoming DM defender. Black, tenchcoat, hood.......... but it will look like my archer then

*Looks at his Necro/Dark, noting the black suit and shades*

*Then looks at his Fire/Rads red armour (with yellow flame stripes)*

*Then looks at his Dark Defenders black tattered trenchcoat*

Erm, nothing to see here. Move along, move along.

Well, white is probably the second most common "Dark" color after black, due to the ghostly implications.

Mine was an attempt to look like Alice Coopers white Tux look. Didn't think about ghosts.

My merc/dark has torn dark red rags though, and fits all kind of stereotypes. Just to compensate
