A Small Suggestion for the ITF
Thumbs up.
I'll sign anything that improves lag hill.

EU is laggy enough, thanks.
I wholly support this suggestion.
I find it really odd they released ITF as it is, they already fixed it once, but the third mission is still super laggy.
Really wish they would remove the patrols who walk around in that mission, you never see em really anyway.
I don't think it's the static ones which cause lag, but rather all the ones walking around up there.

Not if you play on a PC with lots of RAM.
I really should do something about this signature.

Define "lots". Still lags like hell on my rig, and it's packing 3GB.

Has anyone ever pinpointed the actual cause of lag in that one map, or is this just another guess?
Honestly, the main lag-causer in that map in my experience has been nukes. But only in that one valley. After you reach the Column base, it magically vanishes. Somehow my gut feeling tells me the cause isn't as simple as "too many mobs on the map".
Heck, doesn't the 4th mission have more?
Just asking.

Uhu?
How does my ram have anythign to do with network lag?
I also have 4gb ram, still get lag on my powers, they show as recharged but are not. and map server disconnects when using aoe powers.
I don't know much about computers, but i do know thats nothing to do with my amount of ram.

4th map does not have as many patrolling groups as 3rd does. That is the main source of all the lag. I am pretty sure castle said that was the reason when they released ITF, they did remove some of em, but not enough.

the lag needs to be cured. with the constant "mapserver time outs" atm itf is dreadful. we hit the hill and the team lost three team members due to lagging out
the problem is surely the medic rush. that rush make it alot of fun but surely that is what is causing the lag

This is just a guess but surely they must help towards all the Lag, too many NPCs in one area gives off loads of lag (Like the Old Hamidon Raids or even the RWZ Raids) I'm not saying this will cure it completely but it may help.
I have 4meg, don't really get a whole lot of lag on that mission, but I wouldn't have any objection to reducing the number of mobs.
I believe the biggie is actually the patrols though, because they run AI scripts even when the players aren't around.
I really should do something about this signature.

You only have 4 meg of memory? how the hell do you even run windows???!?!?!?!
It could be 4gig, I'm getting old, and loose track of such things. I remember when whe had to make do with 1K.

You could get a 16k rampack for the ZX81 you know.
Mind of Gaia lvl 50 Defiant's first Mind/Storm 'troller.
Deadly Doc 50 Dark/Dark Corr
and lots more on Pinnacle,Union and Defiant

Over the last few days I've done the ITF quite a number of times and each time all it has been is one long Lag Fest, 1st and 2nd mission is Not bad, tho the 1st mission is a Pain once outside as all the Mobs are spawning but once you hit Mission 3 BOOM! "Calling at Lag Centre!" and your mapservering all over the place and personally this suggestion alone may lower some of that lag.
My suggestion is this: Lower the NPC Count on the Maps.
If anyone has noticed when trying to make the Missions faster all along the top of the Map there are NPCs that you dont even need to go for, I ask what is there purpose of being there? All standing along the archways or sitting on the hills. They really are not needed.
Mission 4 is no better, as soon as you enter there are NPCs along the top of the door way you enter threw and are you going to go to them? Not really as there is enough NPCs to defeat along the way to the AV, even as you work your way along to the AV there are NPCs all sitting ontop of the Buildings doing "You guessed it" Nothing!
Honestly I get less lag in Grandville with its massively detailed Web around the tower than I do in missions 3 and 4 of this Task Force.
So thats my suggestion anyway, Lower the ammount of NPCs and you may find a decrease in Lag.
