new epic arctype

First off, let me apologise for this rambling, ill-spelled post.
I had an idea for a new epic archetype after reading the COH comics. I hoped this was coming but it never seems to have, and I think the reason is because it does not seem to fit with any of the current types.
I speak of course of the sword/gun combo. It doesn't fit with scrappers because a gun ain't a shield of any kind and it won't work as a blaster because a sword has no controlling ability.
So I thought that I would work best as a whole new archtype which combines the multi-build aspect of the PB/WS and the combo capabilities of the dual blade set, allowing you to create a totally offensive toon with little or no shielding, so you would be a "take down fast or fall" player.
I dunno, i'm just throwing this out there see if any one has any ideas about this, would even like to see it or perhaps someone might know if there is plans for the gun/blade combo some time in the future?
Once I have jotted down the power ideas I have had into a cohesive set i'll post 'em up here for you to look over.
And hey any devs out there, wanna, you know, make this happen?

Fits perfectly as a (possibly fixed sets) blaster as far as I can see.
Sword for melee secondary. Handgun for ranged primary.
Don't think I've ever seen it written anywhere that blaster powers need any aspect of control in them, but it can easily be added to anything - it's not as if the existing powers have their side-effects determined by anything other than the developers whimsy!

It would fit as a dominator secondary as there a mix of ranged and melee abilities

The ranged part could always make use of some of those rounds Malta get their grubby mitts on all the time. Im pretty sure Heroes can get at them as well, right? We've busted enough of them. And villains can always 'aquire' some

wasnt really thinking along the lines of the old gun kata but i see where it would fit my thinking was born of a guy on the smuri wariors games on the 360 called Masamune Date who uses a lot of pbaoe type spinning attacks with the sword and gun chaind together in an hack, hack, blast, hack, blast, blast,hackblast sorta way if youve ever played it you'll know what i mean if not

Works for me. If it's an epic then it doesn't need to conform to other AT types... it can be unique.
I also like the swashbucking comicbook style... almost piratical perhaps.

The problem I have with that is the constant redrawing of the sword and the gun.
If you could have them both out at the same time it would be cool but otherwise...meh...
Like the idea of the set/AT/ though.

easy way around this, the set comes as a mixed set, if it went as an epic one this could be easily done, because it means you only get the one powerset anyway, now if you have one sword in one hand and a gun in the other, it wouldnt need to redraw.
or you could just use the shield solution and make them permanant by making a couple of toggles for them.
i think the set would sound much like a blaster though tbh, but, if they ever bring in the 'rogue' idea, i think this would make a good first level 50 rogue reward AT.

I briefly considered explaining that I meant fixed sets to keep ensure that the 2 are used together (similar to how shields can only be used with some other sets) would remove the need for near constant weapon redraw...
Briefly considered then dismissed thinking it was obvious that that was why I mentioned fixed sets.
Obviously it wasn't obvious to all.
Note that I said 'possibly fixed sets' as I can't see any great problems with having either part by itself and requiring redraws in those circumstances. Not sure if this sort of conditional redraw can be supported by the engine as is though.

if you had a toggle like with some small defence bonus for instance that you get on your secondary at level 1, that keeps both weapons drawn would work surely?

i agree this would not work as a redrawing set i was thinking again alomg the lines of dule blades prehaps have a choice over what hand each wepon is in
well actually it could work for scrappers if the gun set was a epic and the sword would be katana or broad sword i mean look at the at NPC spark blade

As far as i can see this could work for the majority of the current AT's, Certainly Melee types, Have a gunsword as primary, and each attack has a chance for ranged dmg to any nme nearby, would be a pain for un-needed aggro, but then again could be usful.
As regards to a secondary set for melee, call it Swordplay or Gunplay or both, and have them be defensive sets that defect any incoming attacks. These sets could also have a dmg toggle, that dmg any nearby nmes that get close, like some of the current dmg toggles.
As regards to the blaster version, Guns/Sword would work with mez types of immobilize and stun, maybe even confuse as the nmes are bedazzled with the quick attacks, and with the draw time, I dont see why they couldnt in this instance be instant, and if done right could look gd. Specially with the melee AT's secondary defence auras and have the animations look like Sands of Mu or Shadow Maul does, with the ghost looking arms play out similer to the whey SoM looks, only with a sword or guns in each hand. This way the primary weapons could remain drawn, with out the need to keep redrawing.
Would be hard to do properly with out it looking awful, and would need really nice flowing animations, but i would love sets like this.
Either way, if it turns out this doesnt work for the current AT's then simply creating a new AT could be in order, and availible to BOTH heros an vills.
