AoE's are often less useful as duo's, although she may herd in later levels, so I'd go for something that doles out considerable ST damage.
Scrappers'd be chasing around all over the shop trying to keep up with the madness; I'd rather a blaster at her side (safe inside Hurricane), throwing out attack after attack after attack.
So, some sort of single-target blaster? I think I'd go for Ice and a secondary of your choice; maybe elec to add a theme? In fact, Ice/Elec would probably fit well both thematically and synergistically.

If you want some -res to go with your Storm debuffs, you could always roll a Sonic Blaster to go with her. Solid single target damage and you could also add your single target stun to her Thunderclap.

I'd disagree - you probably want her to be very distinct from you. And a blaster may appear to overshadow her at taking everything down.
For a duo a scrapper with Confront can tank pretty effectively. And with the knockback, your greater experience won't feel as if it's overwhelming her. I'd recommend DB/WP for the taunt aura, knockdown and debuffs, and general coolness.
Either that or a /elec defender yourself. Remember: Buffs will make her feel cooler. So I'd suggest Kin, Rad, or Dark (you need a heal).
And IMNSHO, /Sonic defenders >> Sonic blasters - the blaster only does 13% res debuff to the defender's 20%.

I don't see it as overshadowing. Defender locks mobs; Blaster mops up. Unless the girlfriend here is very competitive, probably better to go for the quick takedown.

In terms of debuffs this is true, but the duo needs up front damage. The -res is just a nice added effect to go with the other debuffs that will being hurled around. Plus it will make the Defender's blasts do more damage as well. Still YMMV.

A blaster is a good choice i also suggest Energy with single target attacks. It is a personal choice of flavor tho, as much as i love ice defenders i got bored while playing one.

I would rather pick something to beef up her damage output, but has also great damage potentials itself. First thoughts, fire/kin troller, both you rush in melee and controller powers prevent the massive knocking around by storm, yet still benefit their great debuffs.
Along with kin you beef up her damage alot, making /elec very nice both single target and AoE (wich again suits great with your fire/). Imps can still ditchout damage when mobs do get tossed around, no running around for that.

Cheers for the suggestions, think I may go with a blaster, as i've been toying with making another one...Ice/Elec sounds like its a good pairing theme wise and it just so happens that the blaster I was gunna make was to be a /elec.

A scrapper, tank that can scrank orrr a troller. A troller could help with keeping everything locked down(except ill). Double debuffs will help you do more damage, maybe a grav/storm or grav/rad?
For tanks maybe ice/em, mace or shield/ice?

How about something like a Fire/Stone tank though. Alright ST and AoE damage. An aura with actual taunt in it (that will hit more cause of storm debuffs) and a little bit of control too?
Personally I'd go controller though. Something like a Grav/Rad or an Ill/rad. Rad and storm combining would be nice and then either good lockdown from Grav of the Agro control from Ill.
Grav also has alright ST damage, which will help as Elec has pretty much none and Ill can kick out alright damage too.

and i'm having troubles in deciding what to make to duo along side her, i'm not fussed on what AT/Powers are used...willing to try anything as it'll be mainly us just duo'in.
Any suggestions?
