ok just a tought
That would require new animations for most of the powers - it would be like making a whole new powerset but only for one AT and reusing the numbers/mechanics from an existing powerset. Bad idea, I think.
I do not suffer from altitis, I enjoy every character of it.
Suggestions should go in here, for future reference.
Dual wield hammers or axes would look pretty, but would need rather a lot of animations redoing...

I might be wrong, but it's not power customisation, its weapon customisation isn't it? So it would require new models, not new animations. Going on the basis that we already have weapon customisation I am assuming this would be easier to impliment that power customisation.
Axes could work OK with dual blades, but I think hammers, being blunt objects would need a new set.
Yea u could probably get away with axes as most of duel blades attacks are pretty swipe like.
hammers tho would need a hole new set doing Smashing damage rather than lethal but could look pretty cool and would be great on brutes (drifts of to thoughts of duel wield mace brute smashing his way thru mercy)
Its only a tiny thing but they would also need to then change the set name to Duel Wield or something of that nature!
On a slightly different note, i was doing the Midnighters opening arc (or maybe the Origin of Power one i cant remember now) and one mission is to accompany a lady to a crate. She is, from what i can see, a Blaster carrying dual pistols!! I know MMs can have them but id really love a Blaster with them
Yeah it's Lady Jane. And they are cool pistols.
But if you added axes it could still be dual blades as axes have a blade.

Nope, because you don't use hammers the way you use blades, and hammers/clubs/etc do Smashing damage, not Lethal.
There would also be a tendency to have different combo moves from something like hammers than from blades. It's a different power set, not any form of customisation.

I did mention in the second half my post that you would have to have a different set for hammers, but axes could be added as part of the weapon customisation to dual blades.
Thanks for that - now I've got "I tought I saw a puddy tat creeping up on me" as sung by Tweety going around and around in my head.

Nope. At least two of the DB moves involve thrusts. You don't thrust with axes. Well, you can, but it doesn't generally get you very far.
The set animations were designed for swords, not axes, and definately not blunt weapons.

Yea but you could if you wanted to and when you can carve thru volt doors with said axes I'm pretty sure if you were to thrust one into some ones chest its going to leave a mark
Bit of a bruise maybe.

Yeah, you don't thrust with axes. Sure, it'd be more convincing than using One Thousand Cuts with two maces, but still.
What we need before axes and maces are the ability to unlock the Scrapyarder dual pickaxes for Dual Blades. Thrusting sillyness still applies, but... come on! There's like 3 or 5 Scrapyarder-related badges in the game, you'd think one of them would let you use those.

Thrusting with an axe is done to create an opening for a hack/slice attack.

Thrust faster.
Basically your using it as a quick bludgeon attack to knock aside an opponents shield/weapon.

Someone's always faster. It's like high kicks in martial arts. I (and I am not a good martial artist) could catch people's legs, and then they're a bit stuck. Here, all you need do is hook the axe head. They've over-extended to thrust like that, they're off balance and stuffed.

Your supposed to be close in when you do it, axes aren't a very elegant weapon much more a brawling style than swordplay.
Brawling Cactus from a distant planet.
Close with an axe? What kind of axe are we talking about here? 'cos I know what kind of axe we'd be talking about in this game, and close wouldn't be a good idea.

Pend on the axes some axes had a point to the tip for just such a move admisedly they were double bladed and two hand and were more like a advanced halberd bit like a pole axe really but thats besides the point axes can be thrusted.
*sigh* Look... it'd need new animations. The actual powers don't entirely match axe use. It's viable, but not great.
For hammers/clubs, the DB animations don't work at all.

Of course were once again applying real world rules to what clearly isn't a real world slain (the only duel wielding axe man i can think of off hand) frequently did things that you shouldn't do with axes to things that shouldn't exist in the first place.
And while yes duel axes could look really really good with new animations and powers but in reality its going to take a lot longer to create a new duel axe power set than it is to port the current axe models to duel blades, Not to mention creating another weapon based power set is just going to stir up the hole CoH wants to be WoW debate again and probably start a "why do tanks/brutes/stalker/scrappers get yet another new power set while (insert AT that i didn't just mention) hasn't has a new set in X time.
Escrima sticks are blunt, dual wielded, and would look ace with the DW sword animations, unsurprisingly, as most escrima techniques are made for swords anyway.

I know we have dual blades as a powerset.
Now my idea is i made a dual blades scrapper and i think that is ok.
I also made a dual blades tank but imo i just does not feel right i think it should be dual hamers or axe's.
what do you think
