Ahh, DD, you've opened the can of worms for yourself now, lol. I also originally got DS4 just for the figure forming as i'm not very good at hands, or musculature, or... drawing... but the more i played with it, the more i wanted to learn. The other day i was at the stage where i decided my scenes didn't look very good because i didn't know how to light them properly, now i've learn't the smallest tip of the iceberg on lighting and decided the surfaces weren't reflecting the light correctly, skin, metal, hair all looked the same texture... Then today, i discovered texture shaders.

Oh. My. God. Cya in about 3 years time when i've worked them out, lol

To tell you the truth, Henri.... I actually would love to know all about the 3D rendering, modeling and etc... and if I get a change to do so... I will sure take it! (so.. if you have any useful tutorials or tips lying around , you know where to find me
But sofar... playing around with poses and facial expressions is all I can do. I suppose that's enough to make references
I'll have to paint the clothes and hair on... and make changes to the faces as I go along (can't have all my paintings have the same faces, now can we *giggles*)
See you in about 3 years Henri! Hahahaha.

I knew it! You can't resist the shiny Hehe, guess you're a bit like me. As for tutorials, it's what i'm living on at the moment. Food and sleep is for losers, lol... to be honest there's loads of them, but 2 that stand out are the Daz3d forums and Greywulf, the forum is just a treasure chest on it's own tbh. As well as tutorials they both also point you at some nice free content... free is good... free is a price i like

http://forum.daz3d.com/

http://greywulf.net/tag/tutorial

and funny you mention modelling, one of the reasons i decided to pursue this 3d malarky was to learn how to model my own stuff, specifically, a certain spikey robot known as H3

edit: ahh, a tip! One of the biggest problems i had was actually adding and then finding content. If you have a prob too, drop me a PM and i'll give you a step by step guide, it's quite long winded tho, so not for posting here i guess

Yeah, DAZ.com is where I got the program (for free even as they offered )..and loads of other free stuff .
You mentioned DAZ4 in your topic and I went to check it out .

So far I've been able to find the installed content. All about putting it in the right folder...as they said on the DAZ tut's and boards .
But I'll know where to find you when I get stuck! *cheers happily*

Recently I've been looking into one of those 3d modeling programs too. I don't have enough time to put into it though. Just keeping up with my hulu and COH responsibilities is sucking up my tiny bit of free time. I don't think I will even get time during the holidays cause my boss keeps telling me "I don't know" about my vacation time. So it probably means I'm not getting any.

Not to make the thread about me, officially denied in e-mail form even though I see the boss 7 times a day. Also I would need free time to get any

...thing.

Henri is always clever!

@FoxRox: *hugs*

To make this tread about me again (no worries Fox), In the last 4 days I've been busy making a tutorial called "DeeDee's way of digital painting" explaining only how I paint the faces in "my style".
I'm still not sure if I'll publish it though.. I'd be giving away my 'secrets'!!
But I'm sure it comes in handy when my muse decides he doesn't know anything about drawing *giggles*

I would eagerly check it out so you should at least put it somewhere that I can see so I can steal your techni- I mean learn from you- I mean admire your teaching ability..yeah that's it

Well! You're with luck Limedolly!
I decided I will half share my drawing secrets...so I will share it with my fellow City of Heroes artists here on the boards (so... no link to DA) .

Now.. before I will give you the link to it, I will warn you that it's a big file. Also that my handwriting is poor and I send you all the best to figuring it out *giggles*.
Oh... and the tutorial is based on Paint Shop Pro 9 (and personally I work with a Wacom Intuos 3 drawing tablet).
Also, if you're gonna read it... thanks for taking the time and interest.
Copyright is on me...and... well... have fun!

Nothing Sylly about that DD, that's a brilliant tutorial, and absolutely brilliant work. You're a real talent

One thing i want to mention, you say about most your time is taken with the blending/bluring, do you have a Gaussian Blur feature on PSPro? It's a feature that will blur a large selected area for you, it's no good for details, those still need doing manually, but for areas like the cheekbone blending, a couple of clicks and it's blended. It's not for everyone tho, and you might already be aware of it, just thought i'd mention it

She is not self-deprecating here, Sylly is her nick name (based on Sylvie), hence the title "A Sylly Tutorial."

Cheers Henri!

I'm aware of the gaussian blur option in PSP, but I must say I haven't tried it on my drawings. Though I did use it in photomanipulations and stuff.
Perhaps it's because I like doing things myself when it comes to drawing.
Though I love the whole digital art concept... I do prefer taking that brush and smudgetool and do what I can with just that. Digital Painting.. the old fashioned way *giggles*.
But I sure will have a go at it! As basically.. it might be saving time indeed.
Thanks for the tip!

And yeah... what CR said . Though I do think I'm quite actually silly loads of times... *giggles*.
