Day job badges, or "a reason not to log in"

It's a motivator to try other characters as the offline ones work towards the badges. If you were half as determined as you faux-Serious Business attitude here indicated, you'd understand that, surely.

Hmmm, seems a bit personal!
I'll just list my toons, not boasting, just helping clarify
Salacious, Tank, 592 badges
Fantasie, Troller, 572 badges
Ellana Darkmaid and Quivers, both defenders, 544 badges each
Firespawn, Blaster, 544 badges
Lord Soth, Warshade, 544 badges
Street Cred, scrapper, 544 badges
Effigee, Blaster, 524 badges
Chilling Twilight, Corruptor, 507 badges
Electric ray, Brute, 460 badges
Lord Marshall, MM , 460 badges
R D K, Stalker, 460 badges
Silver Bane, Bane, 437 badges
Graceful Demise, Widow, 451 badges
ALL at level 50.
So in regards to your post, what toon should I "try"?

Why not play the first on that list for one day, then play the second for one day, then the third for one day, and so on, so that by the time yoiu've gone through the list and are ready to start with the first one agian, it'll have been offline for almost 2 weeks?

I think the point Sal's trying to make, one that any real badge-hunter will make is that you spend time and effort hunting and collecting badges (Enjoyably but still..). But then suddenly the badges are there and you have to log-out and do nothing to collect them, that's fine when you've got a baby to look after or a uni course to be studying... But then when you do log-in and can't obsessively fight for that badge it's a let-down.
I quite like the idea of the Day-job badges, not for the offline time, but more for the rewards. I just wish you could also gain them for being in that place Online aswell.. Such as "Do you wish to work towards this badge Online of Offline" then you can select to spend 21 days or however long in the Rikti War Zone, Wentworths etc..
Sal as a badger is the most addicted person on CoX imo, he's got the most badges and even has "sal's badgehunters". Not many veterans in the game haven't heard of him, and saying he was boasting about his badge count isn't really the way he plays..
I personally enjoy badging for many reasons, one is just becasue they are there and I don't enjoy running around in PvP for hours, or RolePlaying, or making videos for youtube etc...
In conclusion to this mammoth essay, Can we please choose to do the day-job while we're actually using the character please Devs?
Not a bad suggestion, but blasters would get the hospital one WAY too fast! So would people mooching about in Wentworths...
@FloatingFatMan
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Quoted for triple emphasis.
I agree this is a good suggestion, as you could work towards the ones that require you to be in a specific zone while playing and then go to a place like the hosp to log out.

LOL!
REALLY.....so it WAS personal!
I wasnt "boasting" as you say, I specifically said "just to clarify"
But ah well...read into it what you want I suppose.
And as Im now pretty much out of slots, that seems to eliminate making new alts (which I'd badge on anyway), and I'm not moving of Union just to have "something to do" with an at ive already played.
But then in your posts you've kinda missed the point. Which was - I'm a badge collector and getting badges for not doing anything seems wrong. How does everyone else feel?
Shame not everyone is as constructive as Tarantulamatt......

ehh.. Just buy some new slots... small amound of money.... months of pleasure on Union.

"The system was put there for people who can only get on 2-3 times a week,"
Some of us only get to play once every 2-3 weeks, as real life permits. (Hence 1 lvl 50 in about 3 years). I must say that as a gamer, but not a regular mmo'er that I am impressed that the game developers still continue to release free upgrades to a game that's 4 years(?) or so old. I can't say the same for any other game I play - mix of RPG and shooters. It's usually left to the fanbase to crack out mods.
What I have noticed on my irregular visits to these forums is the negative feedback from a LOT of posters regarding ANY changes made to the game. If I were a developer reading this I wouldnt be impressed that all my effort was [censored] over like that. I'm not saying that we should all praise every move they make but these people obviously love the game or they wouldn't bother and go and work for EA or someone churning out FIFA games for the XBox.
This post isn't attacking anyone in particular and probably isnt even in the right thread but reading these forums is such a depressing effort sometimes that I had to get this rant out.
I hate the fact it will take years to get all the badges. Not really a badge [censored], more a badge skank and i still think the requirement should be lowered.
It seems most of the people bothered about this are the ones who spend every conscious second on the game. Unfortunatly even tho you guys put more hours in, there is a bigger majority who dont log in 22hrs of the day and will benifit from having a "Dayjob".
It wouldnt really be right to have the dayjob obtainable by jst being logged in at the specific area, because the idea is when you are logged in you are on Patrol no matter if you are active or not. So if you want to do your dayjob, you gotta log.
<Edit>
The only ones who should recieve Dayjob badges for being logged in is the Devs/GMs and so on, as it IS their Dayjob
IT?!!!!!!!!!
OOOO, thats so mean!
(its a boy btw!)
It's a badge thing.......
