Lower Bounding Box Size on Characters
Remove collision from pedestrians completely while we're at it.
yes 8 people trying to fit through a doorway is a pain in the butt at the minute, even more annoying is that female charecters can be pushed out of the way by just about anything.
its really annoying if you running over a bridge or something for instance and someone superspeeds past you sending you flying down below :/
Agreed. The collision hulls/bounding boxes are far too large to the point of silly. Many seats and benches that would normally hold four or five real people hold only three characters if you're lucky, and not including Huge-sized characters.
I also agree with the colonel regarding NPC civilians. It is mind-jarringly annoying when civvies just blunder through a groups of apparently famous heroes/infamous villains without either moving round them or even noticing their presence, wholly breaking immersion.
Try running around in a cave mission with a full team that has 2 or more masterminds with all pets out.
Really makes me wish there was no collision.

Just keep repeating to yourself, "it's only a game."

Thats far too close to EA's "Its in the game!" to be repeated as a mantra. I'd feel dirty.
[EDIT]Original Post: /signed, both that and your 'release the fly-locky thing' post most definately supported.

Gods yes... The bounding boxes are WAY too big, and when you kneel down, your pivot point is about a foot in front of your knees!
I'd rather have no collision, like in WoW, than how it is in here...
@FloatingFatMan
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Ah gods no!
The lack of collision is one of the things I really really really hate about WoW. It is so immersion breaking.
I really should do something about this signature.

I didnt really mind it while playing WoW. I also dont mind having collision in most cases. It just gets quite annoying when you're being pushed around by NPCs / pets / other players especially if it happens in small maps.

Aye, copying WoW is never a good thing, IMO.
However, the center of the character should BE the center, for when you kneel, sit etc. And limit the bounding to the actual character, if at all possible. So, for example, you had a small alcove which should allow about four people shoulder to shoulder. At the mo it would be just one person...is it impossible to make it smaller?

Just a quick thought, could it be possible to give everyone as an inherent power which wouldnt cost any endurance and would remove the bounding boxes like phase shift does? Just that people could basically toggle collision on and off at will.

And being unable to stand close or sit near someone without knocking them off a chair -isn't-?
At least it implies they are actually there.
It's more realistic than mobs running right through you then stabbing you in the back.
And in CoX, if you stood on the sidewalk you would have hordes of pedestrians walking right through you. How strong a "you are not real" message can you send?!
I would rather put up with the occasional inconvienent bumping than have any sense of being solid utterly destroyed.

It's a terribly interesting subject, actually. Well, it is on a boring Friday when my stomach is complaining at me and I can't do much.
LotRO has no collisions, and I remember a complaint thread going on about having to stand inside mammoths to hit them. It's visually confusing and with some, very large, mobs you can't really see what's going on.
OTOH, attacking behemoths and the like in this game, you often seem to be swinging at air a lot because the bounding box is so big.
Over in WoW, the recently had to add bounding boxes to some mobs in 'cooperative' areas because opposing faction players would stand on top of the NPCs so that, when you clicked on the NPC, you actually initiated an attack on the PC. You would then get mugged by the local guards. This made various people lol... some people need retroactively deleting. Anyway, that's technically not an issue in CoX, but you could possibly have a situation where someone could render an NPC unuseable by simply parking a Huge PC over the NPC and stopping anyone getting to them. That's also done in WoW by griefers, usually using an Elekk.
Both mechanisms have their advantages and disadvantages. I prefer bounding boxes, but it does seem like the ones in CoX are a little over-sized for the models.

god yes, so annoying to be pushed away by mere citizens.
/signed.
I was thinking of something along the lines like:
Remove collision between player and friendly players/pets/henchmen/hostages? Yes.
Make pedestrians walk around you? Yes.
Remove collision between player and hostile players/henchmen/pets? No.
Remove collision between player and any NPCs that isn't following a player? No.
Lower collision/bounding box? Some of them.

However
The "Make pedestrians walk around you" shouldn't make them go off track.
If your standing still on the street, they should walkaround you, but if you move infront of them again, your just being a jerk trying to block the path for them. And they should be allowed to push you to the side
Same as if your running right at them, they should be able to push you to the side.
that's....not funny at all, if i am attacking a skull, i like to kill the skull until the very end, not until someone just pushes me away.
what? Ofcause pedestrians do still run away when there is hostiles near.

5 feet. That's my guess at how far a bounding box can keep one person away from another in game. Perhaps 2.5 feet for each box. It makes standing next to someone, up close, or sitting besides each other tough.
Something a little smaller, please? It'd help with crowding in missions too.
