CoH destoyable objects

I cant help noticing that in hero bank missions, you cant destroy anything, this doesnt make the missions as fun, so i propose we make objects put there by gang members such as Bombs, crates of superdine, car barricades, black market items and weapon racks

By destroying these objects, you will get bonus time and many of the gang members will exit the bank and chase after you.

It would also be nice to see fires (like in steel canyon) in the bank missions as a side mission, where arsonists (of any gang minority) use the 'Thugs Arsonist' powers on buildings.

This will open up the same type of badges villains get for destroying objects, and all the fun of it in heroes.

Thaughts, Comments, Questions and Ideas are welcomed and appreciated

You don't think, maybe, that heroes are not supposed to be destroying the furniture?

Now, if they made objects destroyable in Safeguard missions and then deducted time when you destroy it... that would be more in keeping.

Perhaps a Colateral Damage badge which reduces your Inf gain by 5% since the populace have come to see you as a destructive lout.

There's already a bomb-defusing side mission in Safeguards, isn't there?
As well as weapon confiscation and drug confiscation etc etc?

Heroes tend to use other methods to deal with the objects you just described than SMASH. SMASH should be left for us Brutes!

... and then add a mission to rebuild the things you destroyed to get more time!

it would be fun to have explode-able crates next to enemies, and every crate has just 20 health so they can be used as a starter dmg dealing concept.

Or just give heroes Mayhem missions set in the Rogue Isles and places like Crey Labs.

How exactly is destroying stuff in the Rogue Isles, where it's probably already difficult to live for its citizens with poverty and supervillains around every corner, heroic?

I wasn't aware that they broke the scenery, just ambushed the residents.

When your standard ambush devices are flame throwers, grenade launchers and miniguns no way the scenery is getting out unscathed!

Well, yes, but the standard weaponry of heroes is sharp weapons, flame throwers, sonic blaster powers and nova explosions that could level buildings... and yet there's never any collateral damage.

Villains actually go out of their way to wreck the street furniture in Paragon City. I know, 'cos I've done it.

Humm... you did notice you're a Hero? Why the heck would you destroy stuff in a SAFEGUARD mission? Defuse, disable, dismantle I can see. And there are already side missions where you do that.

I meant Hazardous objects, ones that could otherwise be dangerous to civilians, and by destroying them you are disabling/dismantling them, just like to do with Rikti Bombs during raids.

I'm pretty sure the reason we destroy Rikti Bombs is because they're alien. Apparently player-Heroes all know how to defuse regular bombs.

What about walls that we can destroy, possibly creating shortcuts in missions or opening up new rooms not otherwise accessible? Since we already have the walls in the Eden Trial at least parts of the tech for this must exist.

For some reason I have a hard time imagining heroes say: "Oh no, they locked the door, I guess we go back to the base"

It doesn't have to be solid concrete walls either. Make it piles of rubble that block the path in caves, forcefields in Crey labs, locked blast doors in Council caves etc. They don't have to be quite as hard to knock down as the prison doors in Council/CoT Caves (Which also prove that the tech exists, didn't think of them while writing my previous post).

Indeed. Superman is always very careful to avoid such things.

Oh wait...

We don't all play whiter-than-white heroes anyway. At least one of mine was only allowed in Hazard Zones and the RWZ until the Rikti Invasions started (Fire/Rad controller). He'd be quite happy to go kick holes in the Rogue Isles (who cares about the fates of some digital people?)

Hang on, isn't there a mish in the States TF involving smashing up some pipes. Something like that maybe, have Mayhem Missions set in Arachnos / Council / Crey compounds with no pesky squishy innocents to be getting in the way anyway

Well you can already destroy lab equipment in Crey labs.

I do, every time I'm in there.

Well the munkies do usually really.

Its just when you compare Mayhams and Safeguards safeguards tend to be way duller and less fun. I'd love to sic my flaming munkies on a semi or fully destructible enviroment. It's always so much fun doing mayhems on my MMs.

Bad choice, as it has been more than proven that superman is, indeed, a dick.

IMO there should be stuff you can destroy for reward and stuff you can accidentally destroy for punishment.

I like the Rikti mission where you have to leave a named one alone. It encourages people to read the missions, I think.

I can hear the screams of protest from here. I mean, forcing people to read the mission descriptions!

Brilliant idea.
