Brawl animations.

Brawl is a standard attack we all have. Mostly it's a punch, other times a kick depending on weapon.


Something i been wanting to see since day 1 pretty much, is having brawl more tied into your powersets.
For ranged characters, it'll be a ranged attack instead of melee.
And have it's animation change depending on powerset, like for example:
Electric blaster would shoot a small electic bolt when using it.
Assault rifle and bow would do a quick snap shot.
A katana user might do a quick little slice with their katana.
An ice controller could shoot a little snowball.

Damage/accuracy/animation time etc would of course be unchanged.
But least in my opinion something like this, while small (i don't use brawl on 90% of my chars), i actually think i would end up using it much more often if it acted more like that.

I'm afraid this is what the Origin Temp Powers are for, such as tazer Dart and the like. its so they have a weak melee and a weak range.

Although this is a good idea, I dont think it will happen because of this.


A total of 14 of my nerves have been harmed in the making of this post...

highlighting keyword.
The origin power does not always(ehem... make that 8 times out of 10) fit with your powers.

It would be rather nice if brawl was changed like this. I too feel that it is a bit odd that it is melee on a ranged character.
Not that big change. Hard to code perhaps.

But as the description says (paraphrased):

If all else fails you can rely on your fists.

I think Brawl is fine as is. I tend to use it more as a 'they only have a tiny sliver of health left and I don't want to waste endurance' power later on. Early on (i.e. 1-6) it can be quite a nifty power for all archetypes.

for a blaster, brawl is only useful for the first 6 levels, after that it's thrown in the useless cup.
so yeah, i think that it's a good idea, keeps brawl a bit longer useful.

lvl 47 and I still find myself using my single lvl 45 IO damage brawl....

stoopid tanks letting stuff get to the squishies....

The only toon of mine that doesn't use brawl is my energy blaster, but then she's got red pom-poms of death and doesn't need brawl.

Everyone else, including my lvl50 scrapper uses it.

I'd love them to be changed but leave the Katana brawl, personaly I love smacking villains over the head the the hilt of my sword =P

Because, on those occasions when you have a high level enemy down to just a sliver of health, there's nothing more humiliating for them than to be finished off by a good old-fashioned punch

Also it can be part of an attack chain when youre recharging and youre a brute... keep hiting wil build up fury.

Or last power to attack is brawl... and you want to keep aggro... a nice old fashioned hit will keep his attention on you too.

Sometimes its nice. But the apprentice powers are better.
