The problem with that tho is the main search comment window when viewing someone elses comments only immediately shows about 10 characters - with the 'no blind invites', 'no fills' and other information about who you'll team with and such, sometimes it doesn't actually show by glancing - and may i just say sometimes people who farm don't bother looking in the search comment at all, or don't bother holding their mouse over a player before sending the PM or blind invite.
I'm not complaining about farmers, nor am i condoning (sp?) them, just an observation i've made in my time playing.

Ignoring the vitriol that seems to be spreading between the pro- and anti-farming corners of the community, I would say that the information provided in the original post is quite handy for farmers, particularly if it holds true.
Now to speak personally, I don't like farming, I think it's one of the most boring and mindless activities in the whole world, and I would much rather follow the story, thanks very much. However, each to their own (which is another way of saying that I do appreciate the increases in salvage and recipes we see on the AH thanks to the farmers).
It's farm requests that have pushed me to sit on Search-hide on all of my characters, meaning I don't get call ups for PUGs (which I can do without, anyway, to be honest, but I enjoy every now and then), thus contributing to the apparent lack of players on the servers.
If I had one piece of advice that I could personally offer to farmers, it's this: Keep having fun, but please, please, please, please, PLEASE read the search comments before sending a /tell or a team invite.

Pretty much my exact thoughts on the issue as well. I don't care how others want to play the game as long as they're not hassling me to do something I don't want to partake in. The fact that I've run into a lot of rude/inconsiderate farmers doesn't make me think all farmers are like that, just like I don't with PvPers, but if consequently I want to avoid that section of the community so I'm not hassled by their idiot element then I should be able to.

I don't condone the attitude that FFM has displayed on this thread (he's actually a really nice guy, but sometimes that horse of his is a little too high for such a... well-built.. chap to get down from ), but there's a huge difference between my experience of RPers (of which I am one, admittedly) - Keep pretty much to themselves, very welcoming to new blood, don't force themselves and their way of enjoying the game on anyone not interested - and the majority of my experience with farmers - ignoring my requests not to bother me with invites, /tells all over the place, spamming broadcast - that I would be extremely annoyed if someone decided to give RPers some grief for our policy of NOT being annoying in-game.

Man your terrible. I have the respect not to disrepect your chosen way to spend time, RPing. I dont go into RP threds and [censored] on people for being care bears. You do what you do to have fun. I do what I do. I always read search comments before sending a fill request, if I forget to and send one to someone asking for no requests I appologise for hassling them. Not everyone is the same FFM. From the way you behave I would asume that all RPers are pathetic little children, but Im a little more grown up than that.

But as you said yourself elsewhere it takes but a second to click Decline Team and stick em on the Ignore list to deal with them (Fill requests that is, not cat girls. A pond and a sack with a few bricks in it is needed for Cat Girls)

There's nothing wrong with helping farmers. My wife is happy to take on a fill request while she's standing around doing nothing in WW, or RPing, or whatever. Heck, I'd be happy to do it, too, IF my exposure to farmers so far had not consisted of all those who contact me ignoring my search comment and then ARGUING with me about it. That's not a generalisation. That's personal experience. 100% of farmers who have contacted me have ignored my search comment, and then argued with me about it.

I've found sticking them onto ignore is the path of least resistance rather than trying to explain that to people. What's wrong with that?
