. I've not had much of an opportunity to play over the last couple of days thanks to Microsoft messing with my Zone alarm.

Lol I have had this issue for the past few days too - stupid Microsoft...
Golden-Phoenix - Lvl 50 Fire/Fire Tank
Oodja Nikabolokov - Lvl 50 SS/WP Brute
Baby-Phoenix - Lvl 50 Peacebringer
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could Chuck Norris?

Now now. One shouldn't blame Microsoft for Zonealarm being shoddy programmers.
@FloatingFatMan
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
to remain on the topic, if it offends you report it. I will usually send a tell to the person telling him / her that the name is offensive or copyrighted and warn them about being generised. Sometimes is just ignorance.
But if a name is funny even though a bit saucy I will understand the joke and leave. I am not that prude! ;-)

I'd skip that bit; you might be wrong yourself, and even if the other player agrees with you they're unlikely to stump up cash on the spot to do the rename themselves.
At worse you'll start an argument, at best you'll pre-empt something the mods will do anyway.
As i don't want to start flames or disturbance in forums community let me leave it at that: your reason to report that name is wrong.

Similarly not wanting to start flames, but you don't actually get to make that call unless you're a mod...

Pah! Your mom...!
Not sure personally about reporting someone for using a disease/illness as their name. Since some diseases share their name with other things it could be misleading (i.e if someone was called 'Cancer' they might be named after the zodiac sign or the place).
But ultimately, I guess the person in question can always appeal if they think the generic-ing is unjust.

My mom is fat, I find this highly offensive and have therefore reported this to a mod, I also once nearly choked to death on a penny, which is a coin, so therefore have reported you too Coin. Plus I once got shot in the face during a mexican standoff so therefore am reporting you a second time Standoff

Hey, I'll have you know I am a Mexican[1], so I find your derogatory use of the term "mexican standoff" highly offensive! Mods!!! Over here, the guy with the kitty avatar!
[1] Technically I was born in Derbyshire, to English parents; however, I've visited several Mexican restaurants over the years, and been to Canada which is on the same continent. So I feel I can speak with some authority on these matters. I have embraced my inner Meh'ican, and nicked his big wide hat.

My Stalker has that name, and is a leader in the Zodiac villain group
@OP
if ppl would report every name they think is offensive, only weird names would come up that makes no sense.
let's say my second name "toshiyougan", latterly it means "clan lava" but it might be offensive for someone.
and so if it is, then what?
it's not my own fault, nor is it really offensive mend, but it's still for that one person.
it's one dilemma that none of the MMO's can do something about.

And that's why we have GMs to make the decision.
I usually petition copyrighted material cos it annoys me people are that dumb/uncreative. Being me it takes alot to offend me...unless someones got a toon named after my RL life and stinks on the end....I'd petition that!
I also get annoyed by auto heling aura but find biting my bottom lip stops me from saying anything in-game
@SkullFester
I'm not changing this signature until I'm proclaimed 'King of the World'.
Since people have inquired. I'll keep it vauge enough not to name and shame.
This character had a name that is also an often terminal disease that affects a great many lives. Which my family has been changed by.
So thank you for all the opinions, more than I expected . I've not had much of an opportunity to play over the last couple of days thanks to Microsoft messing with my Zone alarm. However in the future I will be subscribing to the ".. and let GMs sort it out." train of thought.
Cheers,
Mike.
