SMASH!
tanked Countess crey for 20 minutees cause of laggy loading screens for the rest of the team and two disconnects
Was the brute for a fairly regular group of corruptors on the way from 40-50 too.
Thats all for my Fire/DA
my elec/fire was in a duo till its current level, herding groups like I was a tank and then one shotting them like I was a blaster........ now thats fun.
But no its not the same as scrapper lock, cause I watch my HP, I watch my end and I watch my Fury and then judge from all three whether I'm diving headlong into thee next group of buying myself some time by pulling them around a corner. With my scrappers in full flow all I see are living people waiting to be dead
"Well, they found my diary today.
They were appropriately appalled
at the discovery of the eight victims
They're now putting it all together.
Women wrapped in silk
with one leg missing
Eight legs, one body, silk,
spider, brilliant!"
Scrappers Kings of CoX????
They are last on my wishlish for any SF. Does anyone actually have them top????

As it happens, me but it'll have to be a TF.
He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.
Brutes do remarkable well, compared to the other CoV archtypes. It seems the most stack best with them self. Anyway to my storry
Yesterday I got in to a group (with my WM/WP Brute), heeding for cimerora. Doing the qualifying missions, with just 2 brutes, and a crab spider we was steamrolling anything we came across, to the point where I fled a bit guilty for how easy it was.
When we got to cimerora we was joined by some corruptors, and a pit later a scraper.
In 5 mission I think I died 4 times, mostly because I forgot I was fighting +4 mobs (including +4 bosses) most of the time. My biggest problem is was actuarially seeing anything with all the abilities being used, and stopping at the next to the enemy after having speed boost applied.
One brute (especially */WP it seems) is a though, small group of them are a force to be reckoned with. However with corrupter backup, makes us an unstoppable war machine.
SMASH them all, and let the server sort out the bodies (creative license taking in editing the quote)
Actually most brutes don't stack too well with each other. They all have to get into melee and don't profit from the presence of other brutes due to the absence of group buffs etc. With certain sets you still get impressive killing speed because of overlapping AoEs, but that's basically it concerning synergies.
If I had to name the CoV AT that stacks best with others of their kind it would have to be the corruptor. A full corruptor team is a mobile zone of instant death.
The strength of the brute on the other hand is individual strength. Heck, an AT that can solo Lord Recluse (AV) is most definitely strong.
...As you may guess the above sentence relates to my brute story. Beating down Lord Recluse in an epic battle was nothing short of impressive. The surge of adrenaline was so that I thought that I, the player, was the one with the fury bar.
(And I couldn't stop laughing after seeing the reward of 321140 xp on level 46. Never seen the xp bar make such a jump after the twenties. )
If it has eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.
Being the only brute with a pile of corruptors feels nice. Actually I remember when I was playing my dominator we had an all dom/brute team for a few hours, that was great fun too

Being in an all corruptor team is even nicer. A Brute will barely reach a mob before its dead.
Alpha? pffft, capped defence, capped resistance, enemies debuffed to hell, and all the heals you could want. I doubt a +5 AV would have a chance.
Lightning Rod lets you reach groups fast

You managed to solo the AV version of Recluse with a Brute? That's impressive! How did you do enough damage to overcome the regen? What sets are you?

Stone / Fire brute, Volkanik on a LGTF. Last room, 8 man spawn. Sheer carnage - maxed out Fury (at 750%) so one shotting red lts. I always grin like a pillock when I play Volk, but that was probably one of the most memorable times.

I did something similar on my brute. The group kept talking about pulling and what not... i poped a luck and in i went, the kin saw what i did and did the buffs on me. Max damage, i was having a total blast, using strength of will after the luck faded, then demonic aura, then more inspirations. My team died one by one (guess that was my bad), but i was last one standing for a long time until they overwhelmed after a couple of mins when i ran out of all inspirations and such. But golly gee that was fun!
Remind me to never team with you.

I loved my SS/Inv brute but at level 32 the ability of Carnie Ringmistresses to sink her in nanoseconds and her dismal endurance against Freakshow boss tanks that con only red is quite depressing. I made an Energy Armour brute when CoV came out, then SS/Inv since then, but recently I tried the latest toy, WP and I really, really love it. I understand why there are so many WP brutes and tanks around now, but I can't help feeling sad that none of that loving is shared with EA and Inv. Consequently, I have no tales of derring-do... *slouches off, wiping a tear from his eye, as off-screen violins play "Hearts and Flowers"...*
i think ive got a tale for this thread, on Zyst my db/wp brute whos pretty well slotted up i was helping with a misison vs some +2/3 nemesis (set for 6 people) on that shadowshard looking type of map, laying waste to allwe came accross, then we spotted what can only be descriped as a damn army up on a raised platform, somthing like 6 groups of 15 mobs + or somthign insane each, everyone wanted to be careful and pull, i wanted to test myself (evil grin) so on telling everyone not to follow i jumped into the middle of them all and let rip (while yelling death or glory awaits).
as the battle began, allw as going well then i aggroed the second group, no problem, ill pop SoW, all abck on track, half way through them (with them havign alot of vengences going off) i aggroed another group - time for demonic aura... all still going well.
thought im done for when these drop, but i was wrong, they dropped i kept fighting, and fighting, the bodys piling up and my blades spinning like mad i kept going, about 3/4 the way through the entiire mass now and SoW was up again, no need fo it now as i was on a role, and after another few minutes the last one fell.
end score was 100+ nemesis at once to me (non stop solo) nemesis on the other hand merely scored i think one team mate in the first few seconds who foolishly followed me in :P
was probably the greatest fight ive ever had in CoX and i couldnt stop laughing on vent at how the hell i managed to pull it off, got to love brutes sometimes =)

As we all know, Scrappers are the self-proclaimed elite of CoH/V. Whilst the other AT subfora engage in rather dry discussions about builds and powersets (and the defenders mutter darkly about h34lz0r5), the scrappers cheerfully brag about scrapperlock, the Six Second Rule, and the Scrapper Challenges.
This, I believe, is unfair.
We're better solo, we're better in teams, and furylock>scrapperlock, yet we continue to hide our diabolic light beneath a bushel. In an attempt to redress this, I have created this thread as a home for the unashamed and deserved self-aggrandisement of Brutes across the servers - a place to boast about the improbable achievements that you yourself have managed.
Allow me to begin with some fond memories of my DB/WP Brute, Ghazrak Khan, and his career.
- Mid-level 40s, Oranbega map, Unyielding, six players. The group had split up, but I pushed on, determined - everyone else seemed to be doing OK, after all. Charged into the nearest mob of Thorns after popping Inspirations, and proceeded to chop all of them into sushi. Checked to see who was backing me up... and found that the entire remainder of the group was several rooms away. I'd just carved my way through a dozen or so assorted mages, cultists, and daemons entirely unsupported. Grinned evilly... and charged into the next mob with similar results.
- Duoing the Zenflower mission with an SS/Inv Brute. Encountered a grey mass of roughly thirty stone DE shambling around happily - presumably several mobs had merged. Another evil grin. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking...?" Charged straight in, didn't bother pulling. SS/Inv eventually succumbed, I kept fighting. By the time he'd returned to the mission, all that was left of them was a pile of rubble and one or two who'd had the wit to run away. Later repeated the feat in the same mission, only with the aforementioned Elite Boss thrown in for good measure. My poor compatriot fell even faster this time, but I avenged his demise with interest. No deaths on my part. Ye gods, I love Rise to the Challenge.
- Cimerora Task Force. Mission with the two giant mechs. We'd carved our way to Romulus and Requiem, but were scuppered by hasty preparation. Everyone on the team died or fled... except me. Tanked Romulus and associated minions for roughly five minutes, solo, whilst Requiem took potshots from the back and the deceased comrades around my feet handed me Inspirations. Eventually succumbed, but not without reducing the two Archvillains' bodyguard mobs to shadows of their former selves. The team returned from the hospital, awed, and mopped up the survivors easily.
- Most recent Rikti Mothership raid. Started up a kill-tally with Searing Empress of how many Rikti Magus scalps we'd claimed during the battle for the ship itself. Final score was twelve, plus innumerable lesser aliens.
As a postscript, I will mention that during all of this, I was kitted out with nothing better than white IOs.
So, how about you? What spectacular stunts have you pulled during your sojourns in the Rogue Isles?
