Post your base pics here

I love bases and I'd love to see more pictures of bases. A couple of us have tried to start pictures threads before, but they haven't taken off.

Loved your reading room, btw.

Here's our base (now only three active/casual players).

---

Below is an overview and some pictures of the various rooms. Any ideas or feedback are always welcome and maybe this'll give others a few ideas.

By way of background we're an SG with six active members and it's taken us just over three years of casual play to achieve this. We've tried to make the base interesting but also practical in layout.

Enjoy.

Base Overview
Entrance - right to the TPs and left to the meeting room.
TPs - these are arranged in alphabetical order.
Small Workshop - this designed as a stop point if you need inspirations having been res'ed. and coming in from the medbay.
Medibay - right to TPs and left to meeting room.
Large workshop - extra storage and workbenches. and some more one, two and three.
Meeting Room - just for fun.
Control Room, and one from eye level.

Forseti - I love the reading longue. You should've patented the style before the Midnight Squad's shack was built - they stole your ideas!

I really like the idea of your themed rooms. It certainly turns a large base into an 'origin friendly' environment. I wouldn't do it, but I like the way you have!

My favourite rooms in your base are you workshop - love the levels and the way the inspiration holders are on higher levels with crafting tables in between. I also really like your meeting room. The two smaller tables with the speech point at the front on a raise platform works well. I may use the idea to do something similar, but I was hoping the create something more similar to the briefing hall / lecture theatre approach used in the Vanguard base in RWZ.

LeighB - I really like what you did with the lights on the walls to make arrows and symbols! I'd never even thought of something like that before! Again, not an idea I would use in my current base, but certainly something I will keep in mind!!!

well lets hope we can get this thread to take off i'd like to see more base pics on the EU side

ya the themed rooms were an idea inspired by I12 and all the talk of origins, and from a concept perspective "Unions heroes" is essentially a company with different departments so thats the idea behind it i'm still racking my brains for something for the "mutation room"

Ok I'm game to put my head in the noose.

I've made 3 bases in my time, Defiant villains side was my first (max number of active players 5, currently 2-3), then Union heroes (3 active, sorta) and then finally I inherited a bit of prestige from being a member of a now long defunct Defiant heroes group so I decided to knock together a base, still at it as I scrape the next little bit of prestige (mostly me and my alts with an occasional other).

Defiant Villains:
Overview
Entrance
Transport
Control
Medbay
Meeting 1
Meeting 2
Meeting 3
Workshop
Energy

Union Heroes:
Overview
Entrance
Medbay
Control
Energy
Transport
Workshop
Workshop 1
Workshop 2
(the workshop has been my one big attempt with stacking. If I had any advice for someone trying this is not to do it with an already full room... and base!)

Defiant Heroes:
Overview
Entrance
Energy
Control
Transport
Workshop

One thing I always hated on other peoples bases was finding the correct teleporter for a zone. Villains isn't a problem with only the 4 telepads needed. Both heroside bases I've made a point of the destinations laid out based on zone level so the first beacon you meet is for Atlas and the last is for PI and the layout for the transport doesn't branch.

Love the bowling alley!

And it's definitely time for me to start experimenting with levels! On the latest podcast, I'm sure War Witch mentioned an SG base with 'three or more floors'. Time to try!

It's about the best that can be done for writing on walls, but certainly not my idea as I've seen it in a few bases and in the forums.

He he. We're boys, decoration is difficult for us to understand. This is one of the reasons I wanted to see more bases, so I can get some ideas for decorating. There is also the fact that as we're down to three players it's all we can do to keep paying the rent. Times are hard.

We spent ages trying to decide how to lay out the TPs and in the end just went for alphabetical with the med bay at one end and the entrance at the other. It has definitely helped us get through the base quickly and saved some of the running around we used to do.

Now this and the reading room are giving me ideas. I think I'll wait until the next update and (hopefully) the base improvements and then change our meeting room around to have something like one of these.

And this has absolutly nothing to do with bases, but oh well

Hey. The Christmas photo's. I took the base pictures at about the same time so Colonel Combat has his Santa hat on in both.

Drawn by our very own CodeCobalt

Well, I thinks it's groovy

@Jay Leon Hart
Kerensky: this has nothing to do with underwear
Zwillinger: I put on my robe and wizard hat...
Synapse: I had to resist starting my last post off with "Yo dawg!"

Aye i think i'll be waiting for I13 to make anymore big base changes partially because our members heads are spinning from changes to the base and im hoping for a floating interface (if they do make one you wont see me teaming till I24) but i'm definitely hopeful for base love

Here are two bases I’ve made, both now on the smallest basic plot and used purely to support the PvE needs of my friend and I.

The Islanders - Villain base (Union): "The Penthouse"
Concept: These villains are rich from lots of bank robberies, so they can afford to live well.
History: Base was on a larger plot in I7/I8 (7 players earning prestige), but now we don’t need as much storage so I’ve compressed it onto the basic plot to save paying rent.

Overview - I wish I could fit in an Arachnos Flyer somewhere...
Entrance 2 - reception area (silver cupboards are stand-ins for lift doors)
Infirmary (detail) - mmmm brains in jars
Powerplant - not much to see here
Control Room (other end) - most of the control aux were added for looks only
Workshop 2 3 - base is mainly tech, but I used arcane storage for variety's sake
Teleport Room 2 3 - actually a "Ready Room" for villains to hang out and meet before going on missions

Stormwolves - Hero base (Defiant): "The Lair"
Concept: These heroes are poor, too busy doing good deeds to earn a wage, so they live in a dark basement.
History: Base has mostly been built over the last 5 months (2 players earning prestige), but due to cramming in all those extra blueside teleports (all but Perez) it sadly doesn’t have an infirmary or as much space/decor/storage/style as our redside base.

Overview - teleports are ordered by level, clockwise up to Peregrine/RWZ at top right
Entrance 2 - the centre of the base
Powerplant 2 - actually the "Chaser Hangar"
Control Room 2 - the Comm Centre, for receiving emergency calls on the hotline
Workshop 2 - basic storage room
Teleport Corridor (other one) - not much space for decor

I like the irony that the villain base is bright and homely while the hero base is dark and dingy.

Btw I’m a “boy” <winds back the years> but I don’t think I have too much trouble decorating - I just happen to like tidy yet busy layouts, with functionality and user-friendliness a slightly higher priority than style

Interesting to see the chaser pics, especially the pics showing them in relation to the flyer. Might be able to squeeze one or two in when the time comes.

Is there any restrictions re placing them or can they just go anywhere atm?

When (if) the new stuff comes out I may well take you up on that offer. And GG as she offered as well. It can be like a decorating party in the base, but without the BBQ afterwards (unless we get outside bits, but I can't imagine we will).

As Londoner said they can go anywhere - they count as a purely decorative item. When my mate first got the veteran badge that unlocks them he was dropping them down all over the base, in any room that had space for them (the workshop became a bit cluttered, heh) - he's a big fan of the chasers, which is why I dedicated one room as a hangar for them.

Me, I'd rather have an Arachnos Flyer in our villain base - they look impressive - but you need a low floor and high ceilings to fit them in, plus lots of space so they're not blocking pathing. In our existing villain base that rules out every room except the big teleporter room - which is where it would fit thematically, but to make space I'd have to lose the library shelving, meeting table and the skylight in that room - all features I really like (I've spent a lot of time on that room) - and even then I'm still not sure a flyer would fit without blocking access to the teleporters. But if the Devs add extra base functionality for PvE that needs a new room and increased plotsize, then I'll definitely be putting in an Arachnos Flyer hangar as well.
