About the floating thing to create multiple floors, positron hinted that he wanted to take supergroup bases to, quote, the next level and beyond.

This got me thinking and it seems very likely that one of the new changes will allow us to create multiple floors bases that are connected by stairs or elevators, just like instaced missions.

I'm so going to make a complete sewer system beneath the tanc base if this happens to be true.

I just hope he adds a way for us to float things quickly and easily without using magic desks, and adds some decorative partition walls and suspended floor pieces so we can make better use of it.

I've always avoided floating things because I didn't want to log in one day to find my whole base was corrupted/broken. And because floating can look really bad unless you do it in an intelligent and supported/realistic way like Chelsea has with that library (great work btw!).

Thats what i'm hoping to.
And thanks Valkryst .. it took 30 hours but i'm quite please with how it turned out.

Wow, and I thought I was obsessive spending 4-5 hours placing bookcases around the walls and slotting together all those light fittings to make all those skylights in my villain base

But you definitely can feel pleased with how it turned out - that room looks great.

well i would steal it but i can't figure it out lol, you can't have used desks as they don't match with the shelves :S

You do use the desks but you also use the floor heights, moving the floor up and down as required for the different levels. I can't access the link atm but someone on the US forums posted a list of heights for common items. By changing the floor height you can adjust the height of stacked objects quite precisely.

Slideshow of our hero base on defiant. We're finishing up on our base redside, once that is done I'll screenshot the lot of it and put it here. (It has the big workshop room with 2 layers in it, which was a LOT of work )

I like your rec area and the TV area - they look very homely and realistic. I was trying to do something like that in parts of the teleporter room in our villain base (but I think the room is too big to carry off that cosy feeling).

I need to remind myself to get pictures of the Fourth Wall up here.

The TV area is in the big 400k workshop room, we just put up a wall between the lab area and the TV room . The rec room is in the bigger 600k energy room, but we do realise it might have to go at some point if we ever need a bigger energy unit. Don't be affraid to wall off big rooms to create smaller areas. Maybe walling off the area with the TV's and read areas with another row of books might just do the trick.

I'll put the screenies to our villain base up this weekend.

Yeah probably, but we don't have enough space that I can really go around walling off room area with the room editor (apart from the corners I did in the hero base TP rooms - not like I could have done much with the extra 25% of space).

Also for the bookcases to work as a partition I'd need to be floating stuff, which I'm not willing to do yet until I've seen the coming I13 changes, because it could either be a) a colossal waste of time, or b) rendered moot by I13, or c) corrupt the base in some way once I13 hits. And I can't really risk our bases being corrupted when my friend and I have so many purples and other things stashed away in there

I do know what I'd do in the villain base especially if time and floating stuff wasn't the issue. Hopefully I13 will make stacking things much faster and via a more intended/legal use of the editor.

That shrine room is beautiful, and I like what you've done with the workshop!

Thanks mate!
I just love playing with level/terrain editors in general, with the CoX base editor, it can be a real challenge though.

Personally I'd like to see more freedom for styles and placement rules and more placeable items and dynamic room sections, too. Guess I'm not the only one here ...

Now all the pictures are pretty old, I can't post the current base layout since I lost leadership after being away for too long (my own base! .. waiting for leadership auto-demotion to kick in now.)

Basically I'd like to have a mix of tomb and temple, running some kind of vampire-themed group myself.

For that matter I'd LOVE to get those elements that we see on the new Cimerian interior missions:
45° corners, catacomb wall sections, nice looking pillars, new stone steps, doors, urns etc. .. the list goes on.

As of now there's simply not enough antique looking stuff.
Everything I try looks too clean and straight and spacey to get the ambient right.
I tried with much darker lighting, which wasn't everyone's cup really Entrance to teleporters, dark light (old version)

With the 8x12 upgrade I had to unify most of the wall and ceiling styles, all in all it's a lot brighter and spacey now:
Diagonal Entrance to Workshop
Diagonal Entrance to Teleporters
Teleporter room 1

The entrance also branches off to the 2nd smaller workshop from where you can run a circle to the 2nd teleporter room or the main workshop. To the other side is the infirmary which connects to the big teleporter room as well.
Sorry, can't enter base editing mode at this time, or I'd post better screens.

This is an Overview of my Underworld Villain Group on Defiant which is actually a 1 person SG.

I'd like to have seen some detailed pics but from what I can make out I'm impressed how much you've managed in a 1 man.

With our two most used bases we (myself and other ) discussed upping the base size but decided to leave it at the default as we'd have ended up leeching the prestige away on rent as we don't play enough hours to be sure of keeping ahead of the base rent.
