Oh I guess I'll have to speed him up then, the account he's in expires December the 1st and there are a Fire/DA scrapper, an Ice/Elec blaster and a Fire/DM tanker to take to 50 before my MA/Fire...

Which two of these powers should I grab on mine before TT?

Torrent, Petrifying Gaze, Dark Blast?

Thoughts on all three are varied...

Torrent does KB, which is normally 'eww'. But smartly used it could be good for positioning mobs for tighter AoE madness on indoor maps.

Dark Blast is another ranged attack. On one hand, with Throw Spines and Impale, do I really need another one? On the other hand, it couldn't hurt, could it? Well, technically it could because of Redraw.

Petrifying Gaze is a Hold, which sounds useful... Except for the fact that it won't hold Bosses and I have nothing to stack it with. Anything lower than a boss tends to die too fast. Still, it might be good against Malta Sappers and the like, I guess.

On a spines/fire I'd go for Torrent as a form of damage mitigation and "panic button" for when the brwon stuff gets close to the fan. Also, as you mentioned, with the right positioning, the combo Torrent+BU+Throw Spines+Spine Burst = teh lulz

Dark Blast is nice all negative damage and fast recharge, being spines heavy on smashing component, dark blast can help a lot because negative damage is one of the less resisted in game, plus the spines attack chain is not specially fast, so Dark Blast can help fill nicely on the attack chain.

Petrifying Gaze, although it can be useful as you said, is more situational than the other two, so I'd go for Torrent and Dark Blast as pre-requisites to TT instead of Petrifying Gaze.

I wouldn't skip dark blast, the other two its down to which situation you feel will come up most. Personally I cant see Pet Gaze being the one to take

Tbh, you don't need to dip into the fighting pool on a spines/fire. Just with plasma and fire sheild on, you have a 70%-ish (With 3 res IOs) resistance to smashing, lethal and fire damage

[/ QUOTE ]No you don't. Fire Shield has a base Resistance value of 22.5% on Scrappers, 3 SOs will boost that to roughly 37% Smashing/Lethal resistance. Capping Fire Resistance (75%) is easy though, as you have 3 sources for that.

And not sure of those figures even on a tanker without Fighting Pool, iirc a Fire Tank with shields and tough gets around 70% smashing/lethal res while a scrapper gets 53ish% (iirc, ofc).-
