Random Crashes / Freeze problem.

Hey all, I hate to update you with this but....
I took out my 8800 GT and put in my old 8600 GT... installed the 175.16 drivers and it works like a dream. No crashing, no freezing.....yet its been an hour playing now and no problems......
I don't think it's so much to do with that any more. Yesterday I played for nearly seven hours straight with two crashes. I've now had eight crashes in the last half hour?
EDIT: Weird thing. All 8 crashes were trying to log into Defiant toons. been happily playing a Union toon for more than an hour on same config with no issues.
Is it time for the dance of joy yet?
well ive been playing for 4 hours just had one crash
Since I followed my above advice, I am no longer experiencing driver not responding errors. No crashes since then 
I am Happy. Hope it works for you all out there
and still I find it very strange that no Dev is responding. This is an exsisting problem that is not going away.
As far as I know a simple 'It's a known error' would be enough. Now we are re-inventing the wheel over and over again. No official company is giving feedback. Not NVIDIA... not Blizzard... not Microsoft... and none here...

More or less the same here; I was used to 2-3 blue screen crashes every afternoon for the last couple of weeks with 175.16 drivers version, and lately 175.19, and after installing omegadrivers (and playing in safe mode) last Friday, only 1 blue screen along the whole weekend, playing lots of hours and running 2 Imperious and 1 Numina, that's so weird.

I shot a problem in a few days ago and the support is thinking it over for me. So far none of their solutions has helped.

Weird indeed; I'm quoting myself because, despite the fact I've played the whole weekend without any problems, only 1 blue screen and nothing else, however I've had 4 in the last hour, same drivers than last weekend, playing either "normal" or "safe mode", nothing works.

However, from your description, this sounds like you are getting a windows blue-screen error, which (according to the webpage your linked to) is caused by your display driver crashing.

It is the driver that is crashing.. due to memory or gfx card problems maybe. But no-one can come up with a solid solution.
I had a new 8800 gfx card handed to me by the shop. That one has the same problems
I had a new motherboard installed with new memory... Same crash
I had done a reinstalll several times. Directly using the latest NVDIA drivers straight from the site... Same crash.
I tried older drivers... same crash...
I used driver cleaner after each de-install...

I have a friend that has the 9800... I will try his card in my system. To se if that is working. But I already saw someone with that who had the same prob.
You can't tell me this is not known and tested by NVIDIA or ASUS... I have spend 1200 EUR on a new system to game and I cant run a game of 4 year old. I am doing DXP weekend on my laptop.
Easy to say I am rather frustrated.
Yes.. I have a ticket running with support. They have done the following things...
- Let me remove and reinstall the latest NVIDIA driver
- Let me set virtual memory on a hand setting...
- Let me use tuner to set my fan speed of the gfx card at 70%
- Let me run a memory test... which gives millions of error because its prob a 32 bit test while I repeatatly told them I run Vista 64 on a 64bit hardware system.
ps. We do realise that there is a new ATI card out now that has better specs and is cheaper. But I spend money on a brandnew NVIDIA 8800 GST 512 that is not working.

OK I didnt have any problems at all last night so things are looking up (Usually happens 2-3 times a night).
I firstly uninstalled all nVidia drivers.
Then booted my machine in safe mode (press f8 whilst posting).
I then ran Driver Cleaner Pro (As FFM said earlier in the thread 1.5 can still be downloaded for free with a little seach using google)
Then whilst in safe mode I installed the latest Omega Drivers (I downloaded them previously from here. At this point I should really point out that these drivers are unsupported by nVidia and if you have any worries about using them you probbably shouldn't) The reason I installed them whilst in safe mode is that Vista installs some stuff for the 8800 when it starts up and wanted to make sure I was using the omega drivers for all of the software.
Restarted my machine, and am running the game on max settings with 60fps and so far no crashes.
If the crash number changes I will post in here.

Even with omegadrivers I had some crashes and blue screens... I was told omegadrivers were specifically for laptops, so I uninstalled them, and, instead downloading 175.19 Nvidia drivers version again, I used Driver Cleaner and then installed the 169.20 version I had in a cd I was given when I bought my pc (last May, btw) when in a safe mode, but it's not working better, crashes are completely random, some days 1-2, other days none, other days 4-5 in less than 1 hour... DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Since doing this I have had no crashes but occasionally get a screen freeze but then play continues
The Omega drivers managed to crash my complete computer one time... and dual screen is not recognised... But in this case I know where it comes from and how to fix. Better then not able to game on my game pc.

Just to save anyone the bother of downloading them I'm on the latest beta version of the standard nvidia drivers (177.66) and it's still slapping me back to the desktop every 5 minutes or so.
bummer... I am liable to buy a new gfx card if there are 2 generations further.

just had to restart because COH froze on me. using a 9800 graphics card. system requirements lab tells me i am above the recommended requirments. funnily enough i was on COV for a good 45mins-an hour, but soon as i popped into Independance Port on COH i get lag, and eventually freezing. driver version 6.14.10.6755
played all last night with only a little lag. arg!

Indeed. Having only just bought my 8800GTS I'm loathed to Ebay it and get a more expensive card. It perfroms so well with everything else. (Original plan was to slap another one in and SLI them up, but given what I've read about COX and SLI I think I'll give that a miss for now too.).
Any change of a Dev comment on this issue? If it could be fixed in COX code you'd make a lot of people very happy guys!
Just a tip here... last Monday an idea came suddenly to my mind... I remembered I had a cd with Nvidia drivers that it was given to me when I bought my new pc on last May, and I though it could be a good idea trying those drivers, watching the ones I'd been trying didn't prevent me from blue screen and crashing...
So I uninstalled the ones I already had (177.19 I think), ran my pc in safe mode, used Driver Cleaner Pro and then installed the ones in my cd (I can't remember the right version, probably 169.something)... and it's working great! I don't know if it's been definitely fixed with this solution (crossing fingers), but I can tell you that it's the longest time without any blue screen / freeze screen since Issue 12 was released.

Updating... just had 4-5 blue screens in the last couple of hours xD... Nevertheless, these last 3-4 days have been the longest period without blue screens and freeze problems since Issue 12 was released and I started changing Nvidia drivers. It's hard to say I can't play this lovely game as I did til May, it simply sucks, I don't mind who's the responsible (surely Nvidia, as the file putting me in these blue screens and loops is nv4_disp), and why they aren't giving any information on what's going on, this is NOT "the way it's meant to be played". I miss my old computer, pity it burned, I eventually had lag and some crashes but they were because of the game, not the drivers.

What the hell is going on with this game since the last patch? Bought a new PC a couple of months ago and have a crash free existence until the new patch hit the other day.
Since then it's random crash city every day regardless of peak or off peak playing.
My PC is a dual core E8400 pentium wolfdale with 4gb ram,2 x 512mb 8800gt cards and Vista.Have run CoX in 1650 x 1080 with gfx turned up since I bought my PC.
Last few days have been depressing as hell.
Wish the Devs would post and say if it's a known problem or that they are in touch with Nvidia,etc to work on a fix.
Not long back in the game myself and getting random crashes on my 8800gts card. Works ok in other games just crashes me in this game.
Reading the last few posts i'm kinda happy others are having the same problem as i thought my card was borked. Now i'm thinking at least i do'nt have to buy a new card just stop playing this game 
Two crashes this morning, and I haven't touched my drivers at all
EDIT: Make that four in three hours. However, turning my sound off seems to have stabilised things for the moment.
