Another RP team!

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a tech or natural themed team. It's very loose at the moment, and i've had a few ideas, mostly hero, but other suggestions are more than welcome. Hopefully this idea'll have better luck than my last one!

Does this idea need to be an SG, or can it be an "agreement" of sorts between already group committed heroes?

I was thinking more along the lines of a new team, but then again, I may be a little biased. No natural heroes (Unless Luna counts but she's a kheld)

But that could also be a cool idea, a group of existing natural heroes together!

yes.....

i would be interested ,

now detail .. give us so details please

Well, the thing is, i've actually had quite a few different ideas for this, however, i'm not by any means adverse to putting them up.

The one that spawned it all was an idea for an all archer team, ARch/*, TA/* and */ARch chars only. But, i decided this was maybe a little too restrictive, and thought about widening it to any other natural based hero, MA/SRs, WP/SS tanks, Ar/Dev blasters. But thinking about those made me think of an all tech team, a group with power armor suits, cryorifles, wave distortion generators, and all that other heroic junk. That could work as a group funded by, or perhaps from, a benevolent RnD company.

All of this, though, is open to discussion.

(Note to self, maybe put ideas in the first post in future...)

so do your mean a team based around a single tech source ie looted rikti tech , or based around a collection of various tech ideas from a single RnD company , sort of a hero crey corp ?

with the heroes being normals with equipment , rather than having any inherent powers ?

btw i would not be too much of a hurry to dump the archer theme , such restiction often lead to cunning plans , cleaver combo's and make one think when playing , instead of the too often seen "head down and charge " play style.

Starting from restrictive picks often means the "team"
have tight comman threads linking the characters

Me and some friends had done that a moment ago. It was called the Apache Longbow.
It was only ,TA/Archery defenders, Archery/Devices blasters. Now for controllers, it was a bit awkward since while they could be */TA, their main powers are completely unrelated to archery (the only controller was Mind Control/Trick Arrow actually).
And it was deemed to be a natural team.
Oh and... no travel powers...
It died because the SG was mostly made of tertiary characters.
Yet, Diurne is still in the SG and still wears the Apache Longbow colours.

Well, i had an idea of a Nat/tech team myself, well more a RPSG but hey, G.R.A.T.A.R.U. (Globle Rapid Assistance and Tactical Advance Research Unit.) which is a fictional company/group based worldwide trying to help where Hero's arn't fully there all the time, and where the army has been major defeated by the invasions.

Of Course this group ended up being used as a plotline for Battle-master and Curran Radburn, and had quite a few sotry posts on the boards here, however the group itself in game didn't take off and only had Curran Radburn in the SG and Battle-master was meant to be there also.

Now, i still have this group stored up, but since i have far to much else on, with other characters and such, it's just sitting there slowing gathering dust, so if you wished to attempt it, i may have a few pre made characters to go along with it.

That would have been it, yes. Of course, if there's support for an archery team, (And I can see existing heroes fitting into that, Crimson!), i'm more than happy to alter things!

(Could combine them and have a hero Crey that gives the archers special arrows...)

For the Tech one, there kind of is one such. Its an SG that Romanov and I started, and is used as a showcase for Armourworks (wiki link) products and a 'social responsibility' PR venture.

It is headed up currently by the Hero CEO of Armourworks, Liberty Protector. It should be noted however that patriotic pride was seen as a positive quality for such a PR venture, so the favour home-grown (American) talent to turn into heroes. It does not mean that all members must be US citizens, but the majority will be, and the group as a whole will tend to fly the Stars-n-stripes.

However, the single most important consideration, and the reason we didn't recruit actively, is that Armourworks was aquired by League Associated Industries (LAI or 'The League'), and thus the Hero group are actually funded by a Villain Group.

LAI are using the Heroes as both PR to cover their activities, and as a wonderful insight into the highly secret and sensitive inside information that only licensed heroes would have.

LAI also make sure that the Heroes are well briefed on activities of other (rival) villain groups, and encouraged subtly to take them down.

The Heroes themselves are not aware of this, and the selection process does screen out people who are too aware of some of the worst rumours about LAI.

I think anyone interested in this group would need to be prepared for a far-off situation where some of this might come to light, as well as accept that a very few groups of heroes are quite aware of the villainy of League Associated Industries, and may seriously distrust these heroes.

Ah, I had no idea I was stealing your schtick!

Archery, anyone?

Hey, not at all. I think it is perfectly reasonable that a competitor company to Armourworks would follow the 'upping the stakes'. But on the other hand, if you didn't want to create a new SG specially for it, and just wanted something to give the team a history, sponsor and background, then Liberty Protector's group might be useful to you.

On the Archery one... isn't that what the Fletched Alliance started out as?

Bah, I can't win!

Well, I think I prefer the Tech heroes idea, myself, if people are interested?

(Also, weren't the Fletched alliance more to do with blowing things up, and originally made as a joke?)

Well, you have to realise that 95 to 99% of your thoughts have been thought by someone else already, somewhere.

So most ideas won't be that original.

It's up to you to ask yourself:
"Okay, so it's been thought of before, but will this be fun enough to think of again? Doing it it?"

And if both are met with the answer "yes" then gopher it.

Funnily enough, a hero all-tech team would be an easier way for me to play the concept I designed for your earlier Steampunk Pirate SG idea. Still got that problem freeing up slots on Union, though...

Knights Exemplar: Wolfram, Autumnfox, Starlit Spirit.
Militia: The Portent, Wavekite, Mr. Sandman.
The Cadre: WarpLocke, Zajin.
Numerous others.

I have a trick arrow/archery defender that fits the bill for this. Give us a PM.

Right gang, I've decided that I'm gonna go with this tech team idea, and you're all welcome to join me! So let me know if you are interested in joining me!

is it power suits or small gozmos ?

im i right in assuming characters are all normals using the tech ? not say AI's or robots ?
and for back stories who owns / designs / builds the tech

Ok, i have two toons for this a newly made Technology Origin Dual Blade / Super Reflex Scrapper - 'Blades of Infinity' : Premise is the suit is a prototype using cameras dotted around the suit and a combination of actuators and a powerful biological computer (tapping into the cerebrus of the host) to analyse situations and be able to move the body in a way that borders on precognition to provide the most efficient dispatch of the target whilst minimizing damage to the host.

or

A lvl 6 Natural Origin Trick Arrow / Archery Defender - 'Captain Recurve'

I was thinking "clean" tech, myself. If steampunk's prefered, though, i'm more than happy to change to that.

Both. If you want a tech armored char, that's fine. Equally, a char with just powered gauntlets or a force belt's just as welcome.

I was thinking a similar level to the more advanced techs on Earth, like armor suits and the wave projector. Stuff that fits in with Paragon City, basically.

Got it in one. Though a robot in the team might be interesting, the main idea is humans using gadgets and gizmos and armour suits

This is really open for discussion, although the name Alvaninium is in my head for no real reason.
