A fun way to play a Gravity/Kinetics?
Hi BL,
A few comments which might make your toon a bit more enjoyable:
- Wormhole at 26 will help a lot . Just use along Crushing Field for a pseudo-hold and place the (stunned) mobs where you want them to be.
- Concerning buffs, people will be asking you for SB from now until 50, so there's not much you can do (the curse of the kin). ID is a good buff, but the duration is short, so don't bother trying to keep it on everyone, especially in large teams (or on non-squishies).
- Dimension Shift: AoE phase powers are rather unpopular and mainly only used as panic buttons (especially if people are not familiar with them). I think this is skippable for Grav.
- Stamina: even if you hate it, most controller builds are quite tight and really benefit from it (since you don't want to waste slots on EndRdx in your control powers if possible). You might be able to drop it after Transference, but that's still a few levels away (and even then, given the hyperactivity of the set, I would tend to keep it unless you have lots of +recov from IO set bonuses). Unless you're going for a flurry of power pool picks, there's not much I'd rather have than the Fitness pool tbh (well maybe Leadership, but I couldn't run it efficiently without Stamina anyway). And don't drop Hasten which is really important for trollers and especially kins (can even get it perma later on).
- Attacks: true, you probably don't need all of Lift, Crush and Propel, especially at higher level. BUT... Propel's damage (with containment) is great in the lower levels if you solo (and for endless amusement with the animations). Lift: provides some handy k-up for extra control but can be dropped later on. Crush: decent damage and handy in the late game for setting up containment on EBs/AVs.
- Be patient, Sing ftw!!!111!!! (best troller pet)
Hope some of this helps!

Thanks Okton, I think I will do a respec tonight. Drop Siphon speed and Dimension Shift and get Hasten and Super speed that should give me enough stealth to ghost missions (with Recall friend, which is an essensial power for me, the reason I kicked out my PB was that I it couldn't get it).
I will try and get by without the Fitness pool, It hasn't been needed on any other higher 'troller I have (level 50 Ill/Rad or level 39 Earth/Emp).

No! Don't drop Siphon Speed . Really, it's a great power which you can stack easily giving you 40-60% +recharge while you fight, as well as the +movement (works nicely with Hover, or even just as a mini-Super Speed) and great for flooring the recharge of pesky foes. I would suggest getting a stealth IO if you want to ghost things (I use one in Inertial Reduction on one of my kins).
As I said, you can get by without Stamina, but kin is very active, so it will be hard before lvl 35-36 (and both secondaries you mentioned have some kind of +recov powers).

Just to help on okton's comments - i think Grav/Kin is a great fun combo - Kentics powers late on will really shine as with Grav.
Worm hole is great fun and will add to your control as Okton said - also Transferance will be a massive help to your end situation if you want to skip stamina (Tough if you start stacking Siphon speed).
On that note please don't drop it - the higher level powers with longer recharge really get a massive boost from Siphon speed and if you throw hasten in at the start it helps you get a two stack of siphon then watch all your meaty powers recharge in a flash.
The grav pet Sing is great and with Speed Boost you'll love it even more - finally at level 38 Fulcrum Shift will be a joy - i've played a multitiude of AT's & Power sets and I still hold by Kinetics being the most fun in any combination I've thrown it so far so stick it out you'll love it..
Fulcrum Shifted Propel as you throw a sofa at a boss and kill it will be a nice touch post level 38
As I am someone online to play a hero. Obviously about saving people. inclusive of my friends. As all part of one big plan. Dimension Shift in a time of need is a Dimension Shift given.
But people turn the game into work. That place you can't wait to leave. The part of ones life that is a rat race. The game becomes that. Its about efficiency. Its about control. its about teaming with all the right power sets so everything runs smoothly and steamrolling becomes so easy its mowing the lawn. People either want to farm or they want to garden. Certain powers are ftw and certain ones are considered wasteful. You use dimension shift to save even more than one member and there is someone; who didn't need saving; who hates you for it. That someone has no idea nor even cares for who you saved with it.
I am in the wrong game cos I wanted to play a hero didn't i?
Dimension shift is alright for things like that second group, the group the n00bs your carrying ;p didn't see, because they have no idea about perception and aggro cap. In those type of groups after being ambushed needlessly by 3 groups someone is proud for being the last one standing and everyone else applauds for their lucky heroism whilst my thought would be "dubya tee eff didn't anyone pull?"
Players get themselves in trouble and they need the controller to use their secondaries to get them out of it. Had they of allowed for controls first the secondaries wouldn't be so needed.
Before you go changing your powers that would change your concept I'd suggest changing the people you play with.
I Want To Be A Hero. - Hiro Nakamura
He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.
I did my respec yesterday, and Okton I kept Siphon Speed, I tossed out Teleport and Dimension Shift and got Hasten and Super Speed.
I also moved the powers around about a bit on the power tray. Speed Boost, Transfusion, and Increase Density moved up to the alternate tray. The self buffs moved to left of the primary tray, followed by the holds and to the far right the attacks. Super speed, Hasten and Stealth moved up the the alternate tray to the right.
When I hit 24 I took Repel which was fun, but probably will be respeced out sooner or later since it killed my End all by itself
I'm not sure if it was the respec or the fact that I moved the powers around on the tray, but it was much more fun to play yesterday.
Thank you all for the advice, and enough encouragment to make me invest the time to make it a fun toon to play.

Repel isn't terribly useful for a kinetic. Besides which, after level 32, if you need to bounce stuff away from you just stand inside your singularity

Ew. Its all sticky in here...
Singys Repel is handy too since it doesn't cost him Endurance.
Summoning Singy on a knockback resistant mob (like Nuons) turns him into a perma-knockdown patch. Although due to people using this effect with Bonfire on +6s means it might be closed soon.
20s is a bit boring with Kinetics I always find, no real flashy new powers (ID and IR I think). And Grav is late blooming too. But the last 2 powers in each set are their strongest so stick with it. Wormhole, Singy, Transference and Fulcrum Shift are beckoning.
One thing about ID: It takes resistance sets. I have mine sloted with Steadfast protection: Knockback resistance and +3 def.
I really should do something about this signature.
Stick with it. I got mine to 38 on Wednesday - teaming with my regular Ice/Energy Tanker and Energy/Energy Blaster we annihilated mobs of Paragon Protectors in the end of Gordon Stacy's arc. Small teams are your friends - enough targets so your AoEs are useful but not too many allies to give SB to

Is there an fun way to play Gravity/Kinetics? Most team doesn't like me using Dimension shift. At least person in each team usually screams for Speed Boost as soon as it runs out, Density Increase sounds like a great power from the description but it doesn't seem to do much. The whole Grav/Kin seems to set my up as bad kinetics defender with some holds thrown in for good measure. Oh and there is at least one attack too many in the primary set.
My grav/kin is only level 22, and am seriously giving thoughts to deleting her, but thought that someone might give me some hint if this feeling of being bad at what I'm supposed to be good at will go away.
Before you answer this, I'm not trying to build an über toon or anything. Fairly effient and fun to play if much more to liking.
I don't like the fitness pool and my opinion is that it should only be used if you a) Really need it, slotting wth End Reds and removing your Hasten isn't enough. b) You're unable to find any other power that is more fun. So if you planning to show a plan of a Grav/Kin, please don't include it.
