Tanker Taunt Strangeness
Tank taunt is mag 4 iirc, scrapper invinciblity only hits 3.
But have to say, never experienced this, then again i dont have a ice tanker.

Scrappers have their own single target taunt like gauntlet, to help them keep agro (since they mostly do single target attacks) not sure how much it can affect a tanks taunt however.

Definitely wasn't this; at times there'd be 2-3 mobs fixated on the same scrapper at once, plus I never saw the scrappers go into any taunt-like animation.
Not that I've ever seen a scrapper with one of those ST taunts, ever, whatever I've been playing.
Edit: Fixed typo
Probably just bad AI, when do you ever go through a mission without a few of them doing something odd

That scrapp wasn't invul btw? Invul scrapps have taunt aura also and I have some stories to tell, taking agro from ice tanks (and yes mobs still had blue ice glowie on them).

Actually scrapps invincibility taunt is mag 4 also.
Scrappers can pull from a tanker with confront usually. Its actually a good thing and a bad thing depending on circumstances. With auras its probably a case of:
Who got to the foe first to start the ticks of taunt with the aura? How have they slotted compared to you and what level are they to you?
I have seen tankers who couldn't pull of my kheldian but my kheldian was "higher" and taunts between attack recharges often. This is another one of those things that go to show that Tankers don't actually do as much for scrappers as they do for other ATs anyway.
If i ever get enough people for an all scrapper STF when it comes to fighting the AVs its "auras off" or fail.

I'd understood that tank aggro trumped all other aggro, but from this it looks like I could be wrong; can anyone else shed light on this?
[/ QUOTE ]To overcome an existing taunt effect, you need to apply a taunt that is at least twice as strong.

If i look at City of Data:
Scrapper:
1.25 second Taunt (magnitude 3) to Target if (target = critter)
Effect does not stack from same caster
Tanker
1.25 second Taunt (magnitude 3) to Target if not ((((((target = Class_Boss_Archvillain) or (target = Class_Boss_Monster)) or (target = Class_Boss_Mito)) or (target = Class_Boss_Hamidon)) or (target = Class_Boss_RularuuFM)) or (target = player))
Effect does not stack from same caster
Actualy both 3?
Mudpots and BA stated as mag4, ice even has double mag4.

My source is Mids Hero. Info of Invincibility(taunt aura)of invul scrapp is Mag 4 (for 13.5s). Same info on Invincibility of an invul tank, Mud Pots and Icicles, for stone and ice.
Maybe Mids is wrong dunno, what I know is that I didn't liked the strength of taunt aura on my invul scrapp, when I was lvl 28->37 and I had bad tanks, bad teams and also psi foes. And I play my scrapps as pseudo tanks, taking taunt on all of them, but when I'm prepared to do that or my team understands who's taunting, not when devs are imposing me this on invul and also on upcoming WP.
Edit: What Standoff is saying happened to me. I played my invul to 50 teaming with many ice tanks and even if I learned to stay behind the ice tank my Invincibility was still taking the agro of Icicles (or invul tanks Invincibility).
Now imagine how nasty was with an ice/invul overzealous tank who took too muck agro and then panic hit Hibernate(invul died). Who was there? damn my invul scrapp. And I stayed in battle how much I could , using DP, self heal, but hey running is healthy also if the team doesn't deserve your sacrifice. All that changed when at 38 I took Unstoppable, the ice or invul tank happened to die near me and I was hitting it and tanking for the team, while the tank was moaning "any res pls?" mwhaha

Hmmmm - silly question, of course, but how sure of that are you MaX?
Looking at City of Data, all Scrappery taunts are mag 3, and all Tanker taunts (including Gauntlet) are mag 4.
So if you're right, and I haven't overlooked anything, no taunt will ever override any other taunt.
IIRC invinc mag was updated to 4 at one point. CoD stats are from I7, so not fully up-to-date.
Castle recently posted on this.
It seems the taunt effect was working a bit differently to how he thought it would.

and the general rule of "Twice the Duration of an existing Taunt to take aggro" is still a good general rule to follow. But, much like Euclidean physics, there are some edge cases it doesn't quite cover properly.

So, a scrapper who is standing in the mix of a bunch of guys, with a Taunt Aura, tossing out attacks left and right, is going to be nigh impossible to steal aggro from by a Tanker relying solely on Taunt at Range. Taunt WILL do the trick if the tanker gets closer and tosses an attack or two into the mix.

..and what have you already said about it? I looked for your post on it and came up short.
I can remember someone saying that damage stacks with taunt in damage auras.
I actually believe it may of been Bridger.
I could be wrong but I do have a memory of an elephant and hence forth did say in the past that the damage stacks with the taunt anyway and this the threat multiplier must be how.

Sorry but I am lost on the part where you guys had said anything remotely connected to this and anyone else being actually completely wrong at all (except one person).
Even what Maximillion had said is a general rule worth going by and the fact that scrappers can pull from some tanks is nothing new but it takes taunt (the effect) to do it as nothing overrides taunt. The taunt is a 60000 threat multiplier and thats a bit too much for anyone to overcome without taunt.
My pulling of bosses from Tankers by my Scrappers with their confront gains a bit in probability from knowing the range factor and thats about it.

We (the comunity, not me especially) said "sometimes taunt fails to pull the aggro off a blaster who has just done a lot of damage".
The devs said "No no no, that can't happen, Taunt overrides all aggro".

[/ QUOTE ]I don't think that still explains it. Taunt has such a massive multiplier that it should override anything except presence pool powers and aggro auras.

Ah, so this is it. I had that happen to me ages past and I thought it was specific to certain mobs cause it was so rare.
We talking Gunslingers who I never had trouble with (but I slot taunt and my aura heavily) and banished pantheon spirits of pain who I could agree that once they lock onto who ever they see first thats it.
My opinions otherwise.
I have never known a blaster to pull from me without knowing why exactly that was and if in a nice team then my taunt duration might of not been enough. Usually they are trigger happy on or even around the yet to be taunted foes...wait thats pretty much only it. Another reason could be that the tank already has aggro cap.
Well over a year ago despite my warnings to the scrappers I have had Scrappers pull from me with their confront. One next to Marauder and one next to Babbage whilst they are also attacking while I am at range trying to keep the aoes from effecting the squishier members; which is nice considering for support we didn't have someone that can meet the damage with buffs for all. So over a year ago I knew what could happen. I didn't know exactly why it happened.
Firetanks have it bad with a non auto hit aura, Stonetanks have it bad with recharge and mobility, Invulns have it bad with no damage effect and Ice is the easiest aggro bunny there is that people can be so overly confident about they get complacent and so all can lose aggro.
All this talk reflected me to this. Bridger was the Man on Tanks imo
3 things :P
My taunt has been 6 slotted for a long long time and does in fact get altered to suit a specific task and my invincibility aura has about 3 slots of taunt and none of this is without my reasons. Its just because not everything is the same and I keep tabs on differences. Some people say that experienced tanks don't need taunt and those people are full of [censored].
My scrapper when pulling a boss from a tanker will get better at it.
We can definitely say "no invis pls" on our tanks not only so that we are sure to be seen but keep a high threat without being unsure as to why we are saying it.
All this stuff has changed my scrapper pulls only really.

In the gunslinger incident I didnt have blaster pull off aggro off me, but I couldnt pull aggro off the blaster with 2+ taunt, invincibility and some attacks.
About a week ago I dug my Ice/Ice tank out of cold storage to team with a few regulars whose toons were passing through[1] her level range.
A few evenings the team was my tank (level 39) and 2-3 scrappers, between +0 and +2 to the tank. We'd generally be running scrapper missions set fairly high, so +3/+4 mobs - mostly orange-red to me, with a bit of purple.
Throughout missions the tank had Chilling Embrace and Icicles running, was pummelling away for extra Gauntlet aggroing and would throw Taunt around as needed.
The odd thing was that every now and again mobs would get fixated on a scrapper; they'd be attacking it, with blue CE glow clearly active on them, and completely ignore me standing next to them reapplying CE, hitting and even taunting.
Now I understand Taunt might wear off fairly quickly against +3/+4 mobs, even slotted for taunt as mine is, but the mobs didn't switch to me then quickly back...they just never turned to face me at all, even for a split second.
I'd understood that tank aggro trumped all other aggro, but from this it looks like I could be wrong; can anyone else shed light on this?
