TA/

I'm dead set taking a TA to high levels (especially to prove a few friends how great it can be in teams). I just can't decide between TA/A and TA/Sonic.

I don't see many TA/Sonics around so that's quite attractive to me since I hate popular builds (even if TA isn't that popular itself - pitty).

Any suggestions? I might level both to mid-20s and see which one is the most promissing.

(another Ta/ ? yay)
My only suggestion is really more of a question. Can you put up with the constant re-draw of your bow if you choose Sonics as your secondary?
TA/A doesnt have that

Make a TA/Sonic and you will lvl that bit quicker.

He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.

Yep, I'd go with sonics too. The stacked -resistance would be insane (it is on my Dark/Sonics).

With the new IO Sets coming theres some rather interesting PROCs there, the -recharge one in to-hit debuff powers (seems like it'd suit Flash Arrow pretty well), the knockback PROCs (good with the cone knockback Sonics has) and the -resist in -defense powers (Acid Arrow and Oil Slick),

I'd be tempted by Rad too though...

I've got a TA/A and its a bit hard to solo. My Sonic/Sonic does fine though, so If I was you i'd make a TA/Sonic lol.

Speaking as a long standing lvl 50 /TA controller TA is a awesome set to use.

Thanks for all the input. I just got L14 with TA/A and it's been fun so far.

I'm still trying to figure out the best opening power but it's quite hard since I got no AoE mezzer nor ToHit Debuffs. I've been using Poison Gas Arrow since it reduces the incoming damage and got a chance to sleep the mobs but I still get the whole aggro. Any tips or should I just grab a Tank to my team and let him go in first?

Let the Tank/Scrapper go first. A defender should never be taking the alpha.

Poison Gas em just as the alpha-taker hits, you won't prevent the alpha but you'll slow down damage after that.

Apparently TA & A is getting some form of boost too, probably animation times being lowered a bit.

So, I've been reading a couple guides and it seems like most people dislikes Poison Gas Arrow. Then, I took a look at Mid's and it says -31,3% Dmgbuff. I find it quite a good power, what am I not getting here?

Damn it, how else are Rad/rads meant to get their kicks......... or did you just mean TAs? I know a couple of Darkies that like to be in there first too.

If you read my guide, it was written for controller TA. If your mobs are mezzed, poison gas isn't so good.

It's quite useful for a defender, who doesn't have controls for damage mitigation.

I really should do something about this signature.

Yep, sorry. I meant the non-Darks & Rads really.

My Dark/Sonics loves opening combat too. Mmmm. Fearsome Stare and Darkest Night followed by Tar Patch and start singing at them.

This was what I felt with Poison too. Although I changed my tune slightly with EBs, it could be useful for a controller vs them.

Yea, I'll stick with it. I really think it can make a difference.

Does any of the debuffs stacks with itself?

Just so you know, TA and A are getting a huge buff in i11, they decreased the animations a LOT, especially for TA. Go check on the test server if you have it.

Really I didn't know this , all I can say is best thing In I11 then TA has some relay relay ..... relay long animations.

Dispersion Arrow does as its an LBAoE but only get a brief overlap. AFAIK the others dont

With Haste and 3 recharges I think Glue and Disruption end up with a duration of 30 seconds and a 22 second recharge on them, so they can stack.

Poison Gas is marked as not stacking from same caster so that can't.

Ice Arrow will obviously allow self-stacked holds if slotted for it.

And the TA/Archery animation fixes are on test now. Rejoice.

All they need to now is fix the Oil Slick pets bug...

Ah I forgot about glue, but I like it for each group so dont tend to use it on the same one unless things are really slow

This works surprisingly well, on a mob you'll sometimes see 3-4 spikes within a few seconds of laying it down. i've seen 5 once on the first tick!

Imo redraws not much of an issue as the nature of /ta tends to mean you will lay a lot of debuffs and then attack rather than mixing them, well at least thats what i find myself doing
