Help With Warshade Powers

I've been reading through the various Warshade builds and have found myself agreeing with bits of some and bits of others but never a whole one. I have a few ideas for my build but was hoping for some input regarding certain powers and the slotting of them. I'm only at level 22 at the moment so my knowledge of any powers past this point is minimal.

I want to create a tri-form Warshade and have decided that I'm not taking anything outside the primary and secondary sets apart from Hasten as I've heard it's the only one that works across all three forms any way.

I'm thinking that the Dwarf will be the panic button form so I'm not overly concerned about slotting that too much except possibly for Black Dwarf Drain.

Slotting-wise, the main powers I wanted help with are Stygian Circle, Essence Drain and Eclipse. Is it necessary to have all three and if so, what's the best way to slot them?

I've also noticed that not many people seem to choose the human form shields. I thought the Twilight Sheild was useful against Voids/Quants but there must be a way around their attacks other than the usual 'PWN THE QNT 4 ME!' bind as no-one seems to pick it.

Also, is it worth slotting Dark Nova and Dark Dwarf with End Mods and if so, how many in each? (I hate trying to slot Kheldians!).

Any other information would be useful. Powers to avoid completely, IO sets that are useful. Normally I would try this sort of stuff out on the Training Server except I had to delete it off my computer to make some room on my hard drive!

Thanks in advance!

Stygian Circle - Essential
Essence Drain - Skippable
Eclipse - Essential

Best way to deal with a Minion/Lt Quant/Void is to TP next to them and hit them with Gravity Well.

Best way to deal with a Boss Quant/Void is with Inky Aspect + Gravitic Emanation, or get someone else to take them out for you.

The only power to really avoid is Stygian Return, as it's utterly useless in 90% of situations because while it resurrects you, it also aggros everything nearby. Nebulous form is pretty crappy too since they added the time limit to it.

Although you might end up taking these two in the 40s anyway, since they don't get any better with slots.

(Some of them can take useful IO slots).

If you're taking hasten you may as well take superspeed for travel + to combine with shadow cloak. Plus it is nice to have all 4 travel powers on one hero.

I take Aid other to keep fluffy topped up.

When it comes to IO slots, I went looking for all the +Recharge ... although so does everybody else, so it gets expensive.

Positron's Blast, Scirrocco's Dervish, Crushing impact , Doctored wounds etc.

Specific IOs I've picked up - a -KB is great in absorption to keep you in place for eclipse/mire/quasar. You may also want the -Mez from Aegis but as I said, this gets expensive fast

I've reached level 30 with my Warshade recently - aaaaaah what a feeling! Heard it gets much better!

Anyways....I've not slotted Dwarf or Nova form with end mods - Stygian Circle is all I need. I've slotted it with 1 recharge IO and have hasten, and find that it is up everytime I need it.

Here's a build.

This is my WS. It isn't the best but maybe you can take some ideas from it.

This is a pure tri-form Warshade, with a bit of PvP ability.
Utility skills are from the Presence pool. You could re-slot to take all the shields if you wanted to play human more frequently.

However, I highly recommend following a Dwarf + 2 Essence pattern where u basically tank for your two essences. If you would rather not do this, or are in a team. Nova is also well slotted, so you'll basically have 3 Nova's as your pets are like your Black Novas.

Dealing with quants on your own can either be done by tp'ing them in, or stealthing right next to them, and holding them. I however, use dwarf form to deal with Quants as the damage they deal you is greatly reduced and you can easily destroy them in Dwarf.

I recommend taking Shadow Cloak, and Nebulous Form. As they are your invisibility in PvP. Nice for running up to a dude and holding him, also the +perception from Shadow Cloak is useful.

I do not recommend taking essence drain. But highly recommend stygian circle as soon as it becomes available. This will negate any stamina issues you may have.

Hope it helps, if you have any questions or need some tips, send me a tell in game @AcidDog

Thanks for all the help guys! AcidXDog, your build has come in very handy, lifted most of it for my own build now as after having to tank a lot over the last few days, I'm growing ever more attached to the Dwarf form.

Any more input or suggestions would be appreciated. Only level 25 at the moment so still a long way to go!

If you like tankin in dwarf your gonna love your fluffies. 6 slot them asap. Works pretty well in teams without a tanker too. Im only 33 but its wierd tanking with your fluffies blasting away at the same time.

You might want to consider using a respec to take advantage of the kheldian bug where you can shift the slots from level 3 and 5 into your Nova powers, leaving those four new slots to be used elsewhere. Who uses Ebon eye and Shadow Bolt after around level 20 anyway? :3

Hello there!

I can offer a build I use on the German server. It has been read 8.000 times so far and theres a comprehensive Guide to Attack Chain, Binds and DPS in there, too. But it's all in German.

I have to mention that the original guide "Ultimate Warshading" heavily built on Double's excellent guide. But over time and with i10 I added a few tricks.

So, here's the Build. Just a quick intro:

- Dwarf as panic button and for light tanking. More importantly for self-buffage.

- Nova as the form you spend most time in. Horrid-AoE-and-Cone-Damage-fest! Heavily relies on a Defender or Controller granting Status Protection.

- Human for Self-Buffage and rarely used trickery (e.g. for making the cavern of transcendence a walk in the park and for ghosting missions). WS speeds up TFs significanty. Just ghost on superspeed and teleport everyone. For the rare auto-aggroed mobs (those happen on TFs... ugly!) you still got a phase shift.

Usual attack cycle:
- Before 20: Sunless Mire, switch to Nova, blast everything down.
- 20-38/9: Teleport in as dwarf, Dwarf Mire, switch to human, Sunless Mire, switch to nova, blast everything down.
- 39+: Teleport in as dwarf, Dwarf Mire, switch to human, ECLIPSE, Sunless Mire, switch to nova, blast everything down. Head forward to the next mob and blast 90% before your team arrives. Sometimes use stygian circle. Rinse and Repeat.

- The two single Target Attacks of the Nova have been modified to cycle nonstop. This allows to stack a tremendous slow effect (-100% Recharge Speed) on enemies and finally give the WS real utility in AV battles.

IF you get status protection (and good heals pre 38) you are very, VERY powerful.

Recommendation: Tell the Empath or other Defender about your "special needs". Tell the team frequently that the dark monster that is the warshade would be a stunned, held and immobed human without the defender.

For AVs the two Single Target Attacks of the Nova have been pimped allowing almost scrapperish DPS with the added goodie of NegEng Damage. Almost nobody resists NegEng (Vampyri and Zombies, I think...) and some even take extra damage (ALL Robots ).

That's about it.

Ah, here's the German Guide:

Binds are in there, too.

Check out Plasma's Ultimate Guide to Kheldians over on the US Forum. It was written back in January, but it is crammed full of useful info, from tips on how to deal with certain situations to full build plans (alas, no IOs - Plasma may write awesome guides, but he can't see into the future. Or can he?).

I used it extensively in planning for my Warshade, but since I moved back to concentrate on my Union SG he's been abandoned at 28 on Defiant. I'd like to get back to him one day, but Agent Green will just have to wait...
