Paragon Wiki for Roleplayers
Man! As fun as its been, this whole Wiki building thing is quite some work. So, you'll have to bare with me for a while before this project can get rolling. Following Lunk's suggestion, I have requested a proper wiki from Wikia but in the mean time, they've advised us to use a Scratchpad wiki which can then be transfered over when the proper wiki is ready. Have a look at the page I've made, it took a long while to understand the formating, but I think its taking shape. Note, if there is anyone out there experienced with Wiki building, please let me know, I need as much tutoring as I can get. Suggestions, feedbacks, apples and tomatoes please.
Handbook of the Union Universe (under development at the current moment)
Looking forward to see the final product.
I will be importing and updating my entry from the Galaxy Girl one. We should have a Union Universe and a Defiant Universe for the smaller community on our brother server too.
List of things I'll be adding: (Mostly for my use, seeing as there's a lot.)
Places:
The Pits, Kings Row (The Gish): Alternative Bar/Nightclub
Saphos, Steel Canyon (Copper District): Alternative Nightclub
Lakeside Cafe, Atlas Park (Prometheus Park) : Cafe
Unity Tower, Skyway City (Astral District) : Supergroup Building
Rolando Island, South Pacific : Private island, home of the leader and several members of the Unity Vigil.
Paragon Metro Press, Galaxy City (Equinox) : Newspaper Publishers.
There's probably a lot more buildings to add. Also, if people want I could get articles drawn up for some of the major in game stores, like Up-n-Away, Major Flanders, that sort.
Then there's people, events... hmm, unless domiciles are major or used often in plot, perhaps they should be included in subsections in the article of the people who own them? (So say for instance, Storm Sapphire's appartment details would be under his profile, whereas Doctor Temporis' lab would have it's own article.)

The only important thing to know about Up-n-Away: Don't eat the salad.
I'll be curious if anyone will attempt to make an entry for the Scotbots... I won't be doing it (tell you anything about the whys, wherefores and WTFs of the Scotbots? Nae chance pal!) Curious to see how far off the mark people go.
Seeing as the inspiration to make this wiki was from the American's own Handbook of the Virtue Universe, I went to them and asked for help with building it, because I realised I'm totally useless at this sort of thing. Hehe. Anyway, they have been mighty helpful and very nice to me. Eisregen has uploaded a HeroBox template onto our current Scrathpad, and Kadekawa, who built virtueverse.com is personally helping me set up a wiki at unionverse.com which is really very kind of him. Apparently once we start building, it'll only take about two hours to complete the wiki and have it ready for use. Hehe, I've spent three days and still have nothing; good to have a tutor isn't it?
Indeed it is! I'm more better with the actual filling in and editing, the setting up and templates is a little more difficult. :$

Strictly IC knowledge, you know, stuff like character profiles that can be found in official records, past plots, present plots, community-wide plots, villaingroups, herogroups, known clubs, bars, past events, current events; literally a place to store all IC information from our little RP community.
[/ QUOTE ]
Um, isn't that technically what this part of the boards is for?
Don't forget that any attempt to collate all the RP information is only as complete as far as the knowledge of those that contribute to it. For example, I go to Galaxy Girl, but I don't contribute to the wiki. I don't often say much about what happens to my characters on these boards. I'm sure there's a whole load of RPers out there that don't even frequent the boards...
Now before I get told that I'm negative/elitist/horrible/stamping down on ideas/evil etc., I'd like to say that I'm NOT saying "you can't do this", nor am I saying "you shouldn't do this". What I am saying is that if you do decide to do this, don't expect everyone to: A) contribute or B) be aware of the information on it.

Aye, I think I'm the only one from my groups who really lurks on the forums, certainly I have not seen anyone post here...Saying that I think Dark Fall posted once..About a year ago :P
I'm more than happy to include our take on whats happening in the world
Woohoo! Will get to article writing then once it's done.
Update from Camp Wiki:
Me and Pious have been moderately busy beavers and engaging in jet-set, cross-atlantic MSN conversations talking with two nice people from the Virtue Wiki, going through the hows, whys, wheres, whats and huhs of Wikipedia making.
Pious has done a stellar job with our CharacterBox template and editing it to suit our needs (and a nice black/grey colour scheme instead of red and blue, more on that later), and I'm now butchering the CharacterBox template to get the SGBox template running. There's a few teething problems with it that I'm trying to work out, but code monkeys got into my notepad document and now I'm too scared to come out of the desk.
Once you get down to it, editing the Wiki to look reasonably presentable for your articles is easy as goblin pie!
... Just now we have to do the battle with character categories and subcategories, Supergroup categories and subcategories, and then work on the templates for buisnesses and places. Possibly a storybox for any fiction work posted up on there.
I'm also pleased to announce that in addition to our {{mature-content}} and {{subversive-content}} warnings to put on profiles that may contain them, we now also have a warning for the most dreaded thing on the Union server.
Yes.
Lesbian Catgirls.
Typing in {{Catgirl-content}} will input the "Catgirl Warning: The following contains lesbian catgirls. Viewers continue at your own risk." warning.
Edit: I realised I digressed about Lesbian catgirls and didn't mention the box thing. On the Virtue server, they have HeroBox and VillainBox templates. As things aren't always so clear cut, we've decided to go for CharacterBox, removed Threat/Security level and changed that to Character Level, though that's more for IC/OOC teamup info than anything else. Plus this way it means that non hero/villain NPCs can be included a bit more easily too.
What we really need, Zortel, is a 'no lesbian cat-girls and other impurities allowed' sign.
Jokes aside, Kadekawa is also working on a HeroAttributes template that should allow users to indicate character strengths and weaknesses in a bar-chart. Best feature ever, if you ask me!
Good news is, the site should be ready for use in a couples days, maybe even sooner.
Good news is I got the Hero and villain categories set up, as well as origin ones. The Storybox has been set up too, in order to use on stories uploaded to the Wiki. I'll be working on the Location and Buisness box later on.
As for the other categories, I think that if what I was planning works for getting the LBGT category set up, I might know how to set the other ones up. The SG image placeholder is created and posted, and the pages for Zortel and Unity Vigil should be completed soon, I'm bringing info together for Zortel's profile and writing new stuff, which is delaying that slightly.
The guides for the SG and Storybox need some work, I'm useless at writing most kinds of guides. And I'd like to try and get some subcategories for LBGT set up, but not sure how to do that.
At long last, we have good news! The wikipedia is all set and ready for launch! Zortel and I have been working tirelessly over nights to bring you an editable encyclopedia for the use of our Union server roleplaying community. So without further ado, on behalf of the cross-atlantic wiki superteam, I am pleased to present, the Handbook of the Union Universe!
Browse through the template guides and see Zortel's samples to learn how to use the website. Then feel free to go crazy, list all your characters, supergroups, stories and artwork, but most of all, have fun! (610)
Pious.
/e faints from exhaustion!
Go forth and Wiki, my friends! Wiki your hearts out!
well done you guys, [censored] ace!
Have a cookie!
Chuzzah!
just got the basic's of Lunk's bio page up
http://union.virtueverse.com/index.php/Big_Lunk
Once again, excellent work, the pair of you. The Tutorials are easy to get around, and well written
Aye, I just read. I was showing my mum the pages and stuff and saw yours on the character screen.
Thanks, you have Pious to thank for the tutorials, I can't write them to save my life. The Hints and Tips for New Roleplayers was a fluke.
Also: Writing of the non-character/SG/story/player made location articles. Does anyone want to help out with this? Basically, we're looking for info on the zones, Paragon City, the Rogue Islands, existing places, groups and NPC's.
Main articles we're looking to get up at the moment:
Pocket D
Galaxy Girl
Isaac the Bartender
DJ Zero
These are the most prominent that I think are of use for us at the moment.

The first two would go under locations and the latter two under Characters (without using a CharacterBox and editing the template accordingly). The articles can be written/discussed/edited by a group of people well-knowledged about what to write up. I for one will be looking for help writing up a location article for Paragon University.
Concerning these community-used locations and NPC's, I think what would be good is to start a general template/layout and then fit in relevant information as discussed and agreed to on this here thread.
That seems the best course of action to me.
I'll be working on getting City Zones made up. Then people can add in links and blurbs of info about anything of theirs that is in the zone, from buisnesses to houses and bases. I'll also be taking photos in game to upload. For City Zones, we're looking for defining images of the Zone. Galaxy City would be Freedom Court and the Statue, for example.
Amazing work, absoloutly amazing, so much effort gone into it and you can tell.
THANK you Zortel, Pious, and the others that helped make this, ive already half done Echos, i'll keep addingbits when i can, but the bulk of it is there.

Question: Anything coming for Defiant? I only have one RP character on Union, and he's missing presumed dead since the war, meanwhile my character on Defiant is much more fleshed out.
Oh and to add, this thread deserves a sticky, to advertise the Wiki itself.
Got the bare bones of Project Rebirth's page up...it's easy to use, I thought it'd be hard!
The main thing for me would be that such a thing would be effectively a handbook for roleplayers and GMs.
For example, when The Last Word band were touring the city, it would have been useful to have a list of clubs with brief descriptions and locations.
I remember reading a story, I think by Coile, of someone being admitted to a mental institution. It would make things more authentic if details of this institution were available if someone was running a similar plot.
What I guess I'm saying is personally I wouldn't so much want to read a 1,000 story about how CHaracter X escaped his home planet of Zog, was thrown in Grayville Asylum on arriving in earth and how he got a job as a dishawasher in the Dirty Dog cafe. But I would like details of the planet Zog, the Zog race, Grayville Asylum and the Dirty Dog cafe to possibley use of reference in my own plots/stories.
