"I can recommend that, Britanic. The BRMC would be the ideal kind of thing we're looking for in this situation. It will let incarcerated metahumans out onto the street with constant supervison to help out, and if they become problematic they can be tracked, incapacitated and dealt with." Zortel said with a nod. "Who knows, they may even get a taste for it and decide to stay on." she added with a little smile.

"As for an identity... why not just simplfy it to the Earth Resistance Forces? Coile's right in a way, latin terms might sound impressive, but at the end of the day we don't want to wrap ourselves up in it."

Rickman Chuckles Lightly from his Corner "How About the New Earth Defense League?" Looking Around At the Arranged People "Or Even the Earth Defense League.. EDL Sounds Offical Ya'Know?"

Catz leans forward again, a smile breaks out across her face. "It sounds like a plan to me. Aslong as we save the cities and stop those Aliens from invading i'm all up for something like EDL"

She sits back and laughs "And i'm sure my Supergroup would be interested in joining to"

Lunk smiles "I'm sure every one of the people we represent will follow what we lay out between us today."

"I'm surprised no one has mentioned the little problem of their rather unusual method of gaining reinforcements. I haven't seen Paragon's sewers for over two years. They still have a 'little' problem with the Lost, yes?" He looks around the gathered people questioningly, as he takes his PDA from his pocket.

A woman who sat silent so far smiled. The smile extended to the mouth only and carried a subtle wave of coldness that came from deep inside. Her blue hair was combed back and her blue eyes stopped at no one in particular as she looked over the assembly. On her she had a full suit of flexible body armour.

"The Lost are traitors to mankind. It is wartime. Each and every Lost should be summarily executed without fail." Her smiled remained and she could have been just as easily describing a summer weekend over the grandma. "Same goes for every Rikti. If we leave them alive they will join their forces and we have to fight them again. Kill every Rikti that we encounter."

Now that she for the moment had the attention of those present she waved her hand. "I am Pelire and I represent Octavo, a Vanguard backed special operation that has existed from late last year. Waging offense war on Rikti is what we do." Briefly her teeth showed behind the lips. "And we're damn good at it."

On his seat Coile tensed but said nothing. But the truce seemed suddenly that much worse as an idea.

Tower of Power raised his voice just enough to be heard over the others to catch their attention before lowering the volume again, inviting people to make a small effort to listen rather then let noise wash over them in hopes words would stick.

"Although I understand what Ms Frost there says, and won't shed a tear if that is the course many follow. I would like to point out that most Lost are recruited from the hopeless people of our society. Followed by indoctrination they become what they have become. I believe how ever that the majority of them did NOT choose to become Rikti accomplices."

"I have to agree, in the past I have helped protect such people from this indoctrination process. Also, through my daughter Rachel, I have atleast a cordial relationship with some of the Lost in the Row. I don't think we can shove all the Lost under the heading of the enemy, but rather we take them on an individual basis. I do suggest we make a special effort to observe Lost activity, as the Rikti may be able to exert psionic influence over the more mutated among them."

Posted

"We may want to be careful too... if the Rikti have developed their psionic abilities further, what is to stop them from affecting -us- with it?" Zortel said with a frown of worry.

Looking around the room, she took in all the various faces of people who had spoken. "As for the matter of the sewers, perhaps a group could be set up to head down there and destroy any weapons stockpiles the Rikti and Lost have made?"

Drade shifted his weight from his left leg to his right, waiting for a moment to speak again over the voices of everyone in the room, he looked around at the sear chaos of everyone trying to speak at once, cutting over each other, butting in on what someone else was going to say. Slowly shaking his head he muttered "This council of theirs sounds good on paper, but how can you make out what is the plan if everyone just talks without listerning to one another."

(had to add in a line to make it make sense.)

''Mhmm.. there's a point in that, this is going into an endless discussion of planning, planning and more planning whilst in the meantime the Rikti will set more of their claws on Earth.''

''Oh..'' Before resting my stance again ''For those of you who want ta adress me, you can call me by Sancko .. and I returned to Paragon after all these years for just the one reason.. and that reason we are knee deep in now.''

There's a flash of blue-white light near the entranceway, and the partly-human cyborg form of Doctor Temporis steps out of the closing riftgate and through the doorway into the backroom, brushing his armour down fastidiously.

"Terribly sorry to be late, chaps," he says, smiling thinly. "It's all rather busy out there. Time waits for no man, after all."

He wanders across to listen, looking around the room. "Hmm. Deja vu. Well, the last one went quite well."

Bastinado, commander of the Hyperion Watchmen, entered the room. His expression was as impassive as cold steel, but the Rikti blood on his boots and military-style trenchcoat would betray is feelings towards the alien invaders and how to deal with them.

He scanned the room. He wouldn't normally enter an enclosed space with some of the occupants, but these were desperate times. Desperate enough to divert the Watchmen from the prime objective. What was the point of ensuring your own surival if everything you cared for could be wiped out in the next Rikti strike.

He positioned himself with his back to the wall, the door and everyone in the room within his field of vision.

Lunk nods slowly "Although I personally believe that a cull is in order, I will go with the majority decision. Just as there is even those in the Rikti's ranks that oppose this war, the same must be assumed of the Lost.
The strike on those who have already succumbed fully to the mutations, however, is a good idea. Zortel, can you arrange this raid?"

Zortel looks over to Lunk and nods. "Of course. I'll get some people together, go through the sewer network doing a sweep, then we'll head into the lower recesses of it for taking out the weapons stockpiles..."

Zortel glanced about the room. "I'll put forward a few possible candidates, including myself, from the Unity Vigil. We'll be looking for people with experience to face the Rikti in close quaters, in a place where they've had five years to hunker down."

Deep in the shadows of his sanctum, Doctor Destiny gazes into the depths of the crystal, watching the meeting. The bickering.

Normally holding himself aloof from the petty squabblings in the mundane world, this threat draws his attention too. The aliens have stolen magic from those fools in the Circle, so Destiny must lend his own mystical might to this cause.

Reaching out with senses beyond the human, Doctor Destiny sets a magical alarm ringing across the planes, summoning his own allies to the fight. From the shadows, Destiny comes.

Mer'de spoke "Under Vanguard's plan of action, the Militia will be concentrating their efforts in the War Zone"

Lunk smiles to Tower of power "It is good to see people so willing to work for the war effort"

Fiddling with his PDA, Lunk addresses the room without looking up "So we have a pact of cooperation, we have agreed to fortify our positions, and await a fully thought out plan, from those of us working alongside the vanguard, and an opportunity to put it into action.
Are we all agreed on this?"

Without waiting on an answer, he continues "I suggest we wrap this up, and reconvene over the weekend. Zortel, let me know when the strike on the sewer is taking place, I may be able to organise some relief forces to help protect the city while your people are preoccupied.
Does anyone have any final business?"

"Sentinels" said Mer'de. "Order of the Sentinels... the contract binding everyone in this room to a peaceful coalition should be secured under an identity, and perhaps that could be a better name." Mer'de rose from his seat and began packing up his equipment, readying to leave. "An identity doesn't have to be decided now, anyway. Its just a suggestion"

Zortel gave a nod and a thankful smile to Big Lunk. "I appriciate that, thank you. As for the matter of a group identity, I'll let you all sort that out. Unity Tower is under siege at the moment, and I must get back there to assist." she said, listening in on her commslink before standing. "I'll bid you all farewell and goodluck, but my people need me now."

Pelire motioned with her hand slowly, slightly brushing the person to her right. Her skin was cold down to the freezing point of water.

"I'm not going to interfere with how others are fighting this war. I would appreciate it if none interfered with us. Octavo has and will use extreme prejudice and lethal force against enemies and enemy collaborators."

She stood up. "I gather that this truce actually guarantees non-interference, as long as we do not endanger the civilian population." Her battlearmour extended from her neck and covered the whole head except for the face. Thus her gloating smirk was visible when she winked her eye to a formerly bald hero across the table.

Doctor Temporis stretches and looks to the cold-featured woman. He says mildly,

"Principles, if sacrificed for expediency, destroy the nature of thing protected. I doubt this maxim has any effect on you or many others of similar.. turn of mind, with such phrases as 'us or them', or 'the planet comes first,' and so on, so, instead, I invite you to remember that non-interference is not absolution."

"You would be well advised to restrain what you do, because if you do not, afterwards, what you did will be remembered. And quite possibly acted upon, by those of mind to do so." He inclines his head to the group, and leaves the chamber.

Throws myself in a chair before returning back to the chaos outside while speaking like a loud spoken thought.

''This war hopefully stays with just the Rikti only how everything should go on further best be decided when the world isn't threatened, not?''

Smiles while laying my head on my arms placed upon the table.

As the people began filing out Coile was on his feet fast and headed out. Not fast enough tho. He gained a blue shadow that reeked of lack of warmth. Pelire began to speak and while she did not use a loud voice the few nearby people had a good chance at following what was said.

"Sad to see that your blond angel has domesticated you, Andre. I used to admire the inner fire that drove you on our missions to eradicate Rikti outposts. Knocking out all of those power generators must have caused, what, tens, maybe hundreds of Rikti casualties. Too bad you fabricated a misguided conscience." Coile tried to walk faster but Pelire kept the pace. He said nothing.

"You know, none of those that you killed will return to life. You can't wash that blood off." Having arrived at a wider area Andre took a step aside and turned to glare at his former comrade-at-arms. Still he remained silent. Pelire tilted her head. "Wartime is a bad time for idealism. If you want to do everything in your power to see your newest fling of heart safe you should consider actually fighting this war."

Being at a loss for words Coile just shook his head. The blue haired woman turned her mouth to a smile. "You served Octavo's purposes for a while but fell to the wayside. For what it's worth I hope that you and that Sword woman will inflict some serious damage before the Rikti will finally kill you." Having said her piece she walked off leaving Coile trembling. Not out of cold, however, as it was.
