Fire / Fire tanker build

Is a Fire/Fire tank very bad?
Is it out of fashion?

I ask because I habe been unable to find a guide or some example build for this power combination in the EU boards. I admit I haven't searched a lot butÂ…

Anyway, would like to know about the best attacks in tanker's */fire. maybe I can give it a go...

Fire/Fire hasn't been FOTM since the GDN & Burn nerfs, but it's still a very viable combination - especially since the improvements to Healing Flames - it's just that you can't use Burn as an "I Win" button.

I'm only able to offer advice from an Ice/Fire perspective, but I've taken all of the attacks apart from Fire Sword & Breath of Fire. Though if you can fit Fire Sword into your build without sacrificing anything, then there's nothing wrong with doing so.

Fire Sword Circle & Greater Fire Sword offer the best Burst damage, with Combustion & Incinerate dealing more damage over time.

Reading the descriptions, I kinda like all the powers in the */Fire part...
Well, I will have to skip something because I'll need to fit in the Fitness pool, Kick and Though from Figthing pool, and some travel pool... that is 7 powers.
Plus 7 more from the primary (all but RotF and Temperature Protection).

I guess I could skip Fire Breath (not very easy to use a cone if you are in the middle of the mob)... this would leave me with enough spots to pick a couple attacks from the epic (Fire, obviously, for concept).

I need all the Fire sword attacks for concept, too. My Fire/fire tanker should be a heavenly angel of fire... yes, with veteran angel wings, sword, godly beauty (feminine of course)...
Am I original or what?

What is GDN nerf, by the way?

primary wise, you'll want everything bar temp protect and RoTP as you said.

secondary you will probably want every attack you can get at first. when you have GFS and incin you can then respec out FS and BoF if you want. Tbh, most of your damage will come from combustion and FSC. Fire/Fire is not a good single target combination, but it can still eat through normal mobs like nothing else if played well.

pools, you'll want tough if you actually want to take any damage with your tank. I have a bit of an experimental IO build planned for my fire brute which has weave.. but with nothing to stack with on a normal build so it's not a must-take power. It will stack with CJ if you take that too, but it's still not a great bonus.

you can either use IOs for KB protection, or you can do it the old-fashioned way with hover/acrobatics. One thing to note is that if you plan on using burn a lot, hover may not be the best plan for your kb protection.

on the question of epics, i see a lot of fire tanks not taking them. Whereas most tanks may take pyre epic to boost their damage output with fireball, as a fire/fire you arent exactly shy on damage so your main aim from the epic will be for a good hold to take the more dangerous baddies out of the fight.

Thats how Id describe RotP. Nothing wrong with using it, if every tanker could pop up immediately after defeat recovering aggro thats shifted on to someone else that could do a great deal for a team. However the level and duration of invulnerability afterwards is

A flying firetanker, without tough, tanking 17 foes can be more survivable than a grounded one with tough, however I still went jump pool and still wont pick tough as I like RotP

*will need fitness on my Firetanker unless i get better at it*

Firebreath is easily skipped unless your good at stacking.

Char in the Pyre epic is very nice, and the ring of fire allows for burn without running also (ring of fire looks stupid without a -fly component).

well i have only got my F/F tank to level 17, but here are my thoughts.
I love it, the sets combine really well, damage output can be impressive, and anyway the graphics look great. Will take burn at 18, looking forward to it.
Possible downs, very endurance heavy burt that can be offset by good use of consume. Watch out for that Blazing Aura, it is brilliant for taunting and getting people around you, but be carfeul with the aggro management.
My concept build does not include firesword, Ive used it on test and was not that impressed, but it certainly fits your character concept.

Err.. what?
That 4th slot would have such a miniscule difference (especially with lvl 50 IOs) that it's a total waste of a slot.
Put it elsewhere.

With issue 9 forget Acrobatics and save up for a KB-Protection IO or two. One works for most situations.

Sadly there are no up to date guides about, although there was one on the US forums recently specifically about fire tanks and IOs.. can't find it right now however.

I've not found anything on the heroside of the game thus far that would make me want more than 1 KB IO.

On the villain side I found 2 barely copes post level 40.

I'd probably go 1 Karma in CJ and then if needed put the resistance based one in Plasma Shield

They were appropriately appalled

Do the KB Resistance IOs actually give enough protection to survive in PvE?

Been thinking about using them, but wasn't sure about stacked KB....I use some on other toons, but they never have as much aggro.

The Rikti Pylons knocked back through one KB IO on each hit, that was on test though.
Not sure if they do now.

But apart from them I can't think of many...

I find on my Fire/Fire 1 KB IO is enough for almost anything so far up to lvl 35 Rikti Bombs just send me sliding rather than actually kncking me down.
I also respecced Temp Protection Just for slotting 3 IOs 1KB, 1 Aegis Unique, and 1 Status Protect from Impervious Skin (I Think its called) That way no 120 second coverage and no need for shields to be up for active protection.

Sapphire Maiden lvl 50 Eng/Eng/Flame Blaster
Misstrix lvl 50 Fire/Rad/Ice Controller
Foundations Claw lvl 50 Fire/Fire/Flame Tank
Lord Viscera lvl 36 Necro/Dark MM/Flame Mastery
Kestrell lvl 50 Rad/Kin/Soul Corr

The Impervious Skin IO just gives resistance not protection.

I love my Fire /Fire but knock back is hell and i suggest that you get acrobatics at 20 unless you find some IOs before then.
I also suggest taking taunt as that will help keeping the baddies close fore all your AoE. Will suffer more than other tanks from slowing powers because quite a lot of your staying power is healing flames (get hasten there). end is not a big problem because of the WONDERFUL consume. But stamina is still cool. Fire/fire Rocks and you will love it.
