So... I'll give it a try

Since CoV came out I swore to the Gods and Goddesses that I would never play a MM. Ever. It just seemed to be too easy and boring. Instead, I took a Brute and a Stalker to L40 and played several Corruptors. Then I quited CoV before the L50 patch (I8?) and went back to CoH where I've had great fun 'til now.

The thing is, I want to have a high level Villain ready for fun times when I10 comes out (deleted my Stalker and Brute will go soon). I decided to try a MM and level a Corruptor (which will probably be Sonic/Thermal or Sonic/Rad).

Straight to the point: my MM will solo most of the time (well, not so much pre-L22) and I'm looking forward to face AVs/EBs/Heroes whenever I can, without any temporary powers. I like Necro (even if Zombies are as stupid as I'm told), Ninjas and Thugs. I love Dark, but I'm not sure if it will be appropriated for soloing AVs. Poison seems to be the right choice, but wouldn't be my first choice. If I go Traps, I'll go robots. I won't play a FF. And TA is great, but it doesn't seem to be a good choice for AV/Hero fights.

Any advices? I just want to have some good time and solo just about everything without the help of some useless underlings

*Edit*

Ah and does anyone knows if there will be more character slots when I10 comes out? It would be just g.a.y. if we had to delete alts in order to have some good mix of Heroes and Villains on our favourite server. (Yea, I could just buy another account, but I won't do that)

I'd recomend Thugs/Poison. (I'm not biased, honest)
With all the debuffs available in /Poison EBs wont be much of a problem. AVs/Heros can be a bit tricky, and I often use a Shivan just to help with the Tanking. (Not even the Bruiser can stand up to damage put out by most AVs).
The main synergy between these 2 sets comes in with the Noxious Gas power, it is perfect for the Bruiser, as it has a greater effect when used on the Tier 3 pets, and he is the only Tier 3 designed for melee.

I'd say go for Necro/Posion - the DeBuffs in Posion coupled with the DeBuffs and Mezzes of your 7 pets will make EBs/AVs/Heroes weep.

Thanks for the input. I'm testing a Ninja/Poison atm. I thought of Necro but according to what I've read, the damage output isn't so good, izzit? I might give it a try tho. A mix of Lethal and Toxic damage sounds interesting to me. Any tips?

Cheers.

Is it that bad or are you being sarcastic? I got to L6 with Ninja/Poison. So far I'm doing ok, but Alkaloid is quite End heavy. Anyway, I still haven't deleted him so I guess that's a good sign

Necro can do pretty high damage tbh. Lich is mostly control with 'okish' damage (fear, imm, KB, hold, selfheal), but the 2 knights in melee is like having 2 mini-broadsword scrappers. They all can do quite good ranged damage (knight has 2, zombie do mini-aoe poison vomit, lich has only ranged powers and all have self heal). Debuffed and 2 knights go headsplitter critical... thats serious damage. Specialy that lich, ranged knight and zombie all do 'rare' damage, dark and poison.

The thing i like most about necro, instant damage (like ninja), no stupid DoT's like merc (ooooh so annoying) and extract soul gives you a great panic rez power on your died pet.

Which can be made near-perma with 3 Recharge SOs, and 2 seconds from perma with 3 lvl 50 Recharge IOs. It can also be used more than once on different corpses with SB/Hasten/AM to allow for 2 Ghosts and it's power is dependent on the minion you rip it from.

I've hit L10 yesterday with Ninja/Poison. I must say I'm a bit dissapointed with my Jenins. I know they are one level below me and will become 3 lvls below when I hit 18. But they really die in no time, especialy against Damned bosses (my missions are on malicious, so the Genins are fightning +2/+3. Is it even worth to slot it with damage? Or shall I go for Disorients?

On the poison side, I guess I will have to wait for IOs/SOs so I can notice my debuffs better. I'm planning on getting all Poison powers but Elixir of Life. Antidote sounds like a good option to spam on my pets or even on my teamates if I get to team a bit.

About Necro, I might roll one today. But not with /Poison. Maybe with /Dark. We'll see.

I gave up at 26 on ninja/poison, i got fed up they die way to fast. Specialy with more then 1 mob (1 boss, 2 lts) they hit straight through any defence of the pets. They do work better with FF and dark however, great -acc or massive +def works good for them squisies.

I have a necro/traps, awsome combo. But as always, /dark is kinda the 'strongest' set of MM's.

2 notes on Poison:

1) Elixir of Life has a hefty end cost (30+) but provides large tohit, damage and recharge buffs.

2) Poison Trap is a placed PBAoE sleep trap with a chance to hold for a few seconds. If you can see that working, then by all means take it.

Poison's poison trap is lousy, useless and serious not worth taking. Specialy if you have seen the effects of the trap's poison trap.

If you have room for /poison's poison trap in your build you have missed a power that is probably ten times less situational, ten times less sucky and a hundred times more useful than poison trap.

If it has
eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.

Got it. *Note to self: Poison's poison trap sucks.*

I'm L13 now. Got my Jounin and now things are so much better. I run Relentless missions without problems, but I'm still having some troubles with macros (I've never used it before, but it seems quite hard to control the pets without it). Are there any especific macros I should use? So far I got the Follow, Attack, GoTo, Passive, Agressive, Stay and Defensive macros. I'm guessing this isn't enough if I want to have total control of my pets. Any other macros I should add?

Well, if you want to be able to control each group of pets separately (and keep your power trays managable in the long run) I suggest using numpad binds. I use those with small adjustments for personal style and my pets obey me like the obedient little tin cans/loa-possessed thugs/mindless corpses they are.

That helped a lot I've finally started with EBs (all on Relentless). Sea Witch was my first victim but she wasn't even a challenge. I've had more troubles with a Ludities' Boss in the previous room than the EB itself. I'm looking forward to kick Echo's butt now.

At what level and from which contact should I get my first AV? I believe Barracuda was the first AV I've got with my Brute. But that was ages ago, can't really remember where and which contact I got it from.
