i am getting into streakbreakers on my terms sunshine
To be fair i left her behind abit in comparison to my stone and especially to fire for reasons of lack of challenge but now i dunno it appears i may of left the wrong one behind.

OP > I don't know who's this "we" you speak about, but my invul can handle elements/energy just fine, and psy with insps.
Here's some tips to help you :
- Turn on your toggles. They do more than shiny effects.
- Use your inspirations. They do more than take spots in your tray.
- Work with your team. They do more than boost the mob spawn count.
Good luck.

and Spad is right taunt control is what tanks are about.
When i play different tanks i want different challenges!
When i play alongside different powersets i want different dynamics!

You are getting no argument from me over any of the mentioned points (especially the last one ).
I love teaming with a friend who is a very gifted tank player. His first level 50 toon was a fire/fire tanker and his most recent tanker is ice/ice and the differences in playstyle are very hard to miss. (The most obvious point being that one has decent AoE damage and the other one can't kill a mob for his life.) Both are great aggro controllers, but the applied methods differ to a vast degree and seem to be quite grotesque in the eyes of other players sometimes.

A team is a humble team to me, not some God and a few tag along peasants.

Well, the word "humble" wouldn't spring to my mind, it's more like every team member doing his share is a kind of god in his own right, but other than that I am fine with that statement.
If it has eyes, you can blind it, if it has blood, you can make it bleed, if it has a mouth, you can make it scream.

Inspirations are very important, once in the 40s I quickly found that for AVs, especially Psi ones, having enough of the right inspirations with you is the key to surviving even in a team with low support ( blaster/scrapper heavy ). Generally defence and health ones are the most useful.

Tanking (and I wish I didn't have to keep saying this) is not about taking damage. Tanking is about taking aggro. The perfect counter-example of this are Granite-only Stone tanks who are repeatedly the last one standing against huge mobs because they're virtually unkillable, but they simply can't control the aggro so all their teammates die. It doesn't matter how much damage you can or can't take, the important thing is that you can hold the attention of the mobs so that the rest of your team can do their jobs without having to worry about getting one-shotted by something that got loose.
[/ QUOTE ]
And there we go again with the 'what is tanking' story. Granite cant keep agro, fire is squisy and inv is dull and boring, ice tanker pwnz all.
For the record a sonic def can cap fire and inv kinda on every element, making them non less then a Granite. Its the whole story of finger pointing. My Granite hits nearly 2 years lvl50, i know very well what i am capable of and if i am able to keep agro. And clearly if 1 team member cant handle a lost minion, its more his playstyle then my 'agro management'.
And thus, issue 10 for inv and fire tankers.. get a sonic and behold. (this is very well proven and tested to high degree +3 AV tanking). So yeah a sonic is needed, but isnt a rad or kin also needed for STF?
[/ QUOTE ]
Don't misunderstand me, I wasn't accusing Stone tanks of being useless - I simply used it as my example because it is the most common example of people thinking that simply being the last one standing makes you the best tank, whereas it's actually the case that having all of your team still standing makes you the best tank.
I do find it highly amusing that people now have the idea that Ice Tanks are "teh Pwnz" given their checkered history in the game - 6 issues ago, nobody in their right mind would have even considered rolling one. Time are a changing, I guess.

Whoo, Red Noise is finally FOTM!!
....
Ice and INV both have one big thing going for them with IOs that Stone cannot achieve: Perma Dull Pain.
Recluse can hit you all he likes, he isn't going to one-shot you when you're at the HP cap the entire fight (171.4%, or Slotted Dull Pain + "Portal Jockey", + "Freedom Phalanx Reserve Member").
And although expensive, it really doesn't take much effort to get it... about 45% +Recharge, plus Hasten.
Perma DullPain/Hoarfrost, solid aggro holding, and an Empath with Absorb Pain = Frustrated Recluse.
Sturdies would also be good, but entirely optional!
If ya have an Emp to give AP then AB would of given perma dp or hoarfrost anyway and maybe Spad already did. A nice little attack chain of LR and his men can cut through even a toggled up invulns max hitpoints quite nicely 'if' really unlucky.
Id quite like to see more little sonics running about tbh.

Yes thats hastened and probably nearer 19 secs but would you tank LR out of granite?
If so why?
To show how great defenders can be?
My mate came out of granite for a bit on the inner circle and was a little surprised to find he was alright.

I only post it to show it is very possible for a stone to hit perma earth embrace, though with help of AB, SB or AM he can do this in Granite.

Maybe i'm doing something wrong ... but White Bear was the first toon i ever created (well i have 3 anniversary badges so you work it out), INV/SS and the ONLY mobs i worry about are the S/L ones because i never took Temp Inv. (and i did my first actual respec about 2 weeks ago)
Now i assume i'm an average tank, because quite a few people are happy to group with me again and again, it's either that or there very very desperate a lot of the time.
I'm more than happy to tank in a group without an empath or healer, thanks but dull pain and unstop maybe be slow but the do the job very nicely thanks.
So judging by what you say i think i may be tanking all wrong.
I might not be the fastest tank on the block, but speed isn't everything, i like to play the game not blitz it.

Somebody who thinks a tanker should be able to tank almost anything without support seems to have some problem with his ego. I can only speak for myself, but one 'strong man' enabling 'easy mode' for the whole 8-man-team without any need for support is not my type of game.

It looks like you are thinking of Invulnerability as a resistance set. It fares much better as a defence set. Think of the S/L resistance as a nice little bonus ( that makes the Rikti's nastiest attacks, the big swords, only tickle ) and play to Invs main strength, Invincibility.
My inv tank is my toughest, against pretty much anything that doesn't have defence debuffs.

Defense for general herding and resists for AVs and when doing either you may need support from players and what they do may contribute to your defense anyway or may contribute to your resistance anyway.
