My MM aint so shabby in PvP!

Just took on an ice/rad corru in Warburg, he was lvl 50 @38 , I was lvl 30 @ 38.
I think he beat me twice, one of em being pretty simultaneous deaths, and then I beat him 3 in a row. Ninja traps for the win!
Tactics and the acid mortar really felt like they were making the difference. As soon as the mortar hit this guy, the damage was soaked up it seemed. And my ninjas could not miss at all with the debuff and tactics running. I had recently respeced my MM "8ngaHroSndwch" (eating a Hero Sandwich) and was very pleased with his PvE results. I had never experienced the carnage of traps PvP!

The bubble stacked my way along with the mortar and tactics, it was fierce. At times, I felt like I could have took his side kick also. Making em puke with the poison trap is nice also!

Hehe!
Jared, lets drink tequila and do this!

The opinion of Masterminds being no good in PvP dates to prior the introduction of Bodyguard mode - previously we were a weak target that could be easily dispatched with minimum effort.

These days in PvP, a lot of effort will be made to detach Masterminds from their henches to get the easy kill

Yep, PvP prior to Body Guard mode was really tough for MM's with them being continually singled out and smashed down with burst damage.

Now with BG mode you can hold your ground as good as most tanks if your team are about..

I find MM's now give a real good team support to a villian tema that holds it's ground, but sadly on the move it's still a bit tough

Thats why you bring the enemy to you

Masterminds are godlike in PvP. I once defeated a regen scrapper while I was afk.

BG mode?

Bodyguard mode = having your pets near and in "follow defensive"-mode. This will make any damage dealt to the MM himself being divided between MM and the henchmen. 2 points for MM, 1 point per each henchman in range.

Or maybe regen has been nerfed to oblivion. I deleted my regeneration scrapper, since the concept was lost at some point.

I find comments like "godlike" somewhat off the mark, I have had PvP encounters in all the PvP enabled zones, and your AFK encounter is an exception, someone with any embryonic strategy in place, should have killed you. ;-)

( Not saying it is easy to kill non-AFK MM's, that is. )

Yep this has been THE change for MM's in PvP really.. If you sit there with all epts like that and a blaster hits you once.. you normally find a balster running for his life and on low HP when the pets all go for him from a Sirens Call & Thugs MM's experiance here.

One thing though that i was unhappy about was placing one enforcer on Aggresive mode with all the Tactics buffs still won't make him attack an invs'd target even if the 'powers' say he can see them.

I tried it out in WB or am i getting it wrong here? Then u could even be on Stalker/Illusionist watch with thugs

i dont really find stalkers to be a problem in PvP, they dont have the hits to survive long, and its only really energy ones that take you down quick enough, especialy when your a bubbler and by some miricle AS just missed you

This is an interesting note. Its something I've wanted clarified for some time now, but haven't had the chance to experiment.

On a PvE map, you can set your Enforcers on Aggressive and they'll just attack any hostiles in ranged, even if they were stealthed. However, once I did this same thing on a PvP map with two stalkers and although I won the fights, I remember the Enforcers not attacking the Stalkers, even when they were well in-range. Maybe I had them on Bodyguard Mode at the time. I need to go and figure this out properly.

Yep, i tried it with a friend and they don't seem to attack until you can see the stalker.. however if you pace them on attack after that your pets will not stop chasing the stlaker until the pets are dead or the stalker is

shame in Aggrisve mode they don't attack them or at least not from my trials yet

Wow, My rep is 83+ now!
Still level 35, and all in Warburg. even getting ganked while setting up pets, or asking for duels. Just loving it.
And when I do die, they are puking from my poison trap on my corpse, something I tease em for.

So Fun! I have to get tele gank, oops TP foe..

Got to see Private Dancer's Ninja/Traps last night. Besides learning that glue arrow is a much more horrible slowing tool than caltrops (we had a trick arrow/traps sparing match) and that I really need to keep my one-pet MM out of Warburg (I stayed after he had to log, it was nightmarish), I got to see PD duel with a random Brute.

Whoever said Masterminds suck at PVP is just foolish. That [censored] was insane.

Well one caltrop did not slow nearly as much as glue arrow. However, a brute found it hard to run on FIVE piles o caltrops, from ninjas, plus mine. He was high stepping in place then, until he puked. OGodtheRats and I were gonna tag team him, but I felt the brute was a bit too confident after his runupandgank move when I stated "dueling" ( the trap vs arrow duel) without pets... Now an Electric brute could have would have should have easily owned me...

Dammm that acid mortar just does not miss! Please do not slot it for accuracy, as soon as it hits, they melt..

I'd be curious to see the stats for Acid Mortar's debuff next to the stats for Acid Arrow and Disruption Arrow's debuffs. I uses both those together pretty regularly and they're pretty good for making mobs turn to butter.

Thanks again for the PVP invite last night, Dancer. I stuck around in Warburg for about an hour after you left and pretty much used up my Temp Jump Pack power playing the "bait" as the Mastermind with only one pet and the annoying Trick Arrows (My use of Glue Arrow and Ice Arrow were...attention getting at best, though far from lethal) really was meant to be slaughtered. Thank God for no debt.

But it still was a blast. Mostly because of using Ice Arrow on a Hero flying a couple hundred yards up in the air. Watching an enemy that's actually another player fall to their doom was very, very satisfying.

10 seconds later though, her friends ripped me in half. Naturally.

Its a rock paper scissors thing most 2/3rds of the time
Some builds, I pwn, others PWN me, in the 1 v 1 Warburg Game.

A fire secondary brute ..toyed with me last night, he said he would save me for last, and he did. Massive poison resist and heals, because mortar and poison didnt stop him!

Monday Night, all-trapper team. This is your reminder. Maybe we can convince them to head into Sirens. Should be fun.

Oh and always awesome having you on my friends list as the toon "that can always save the day". It's like your mastermind has a Traps Signal that lights up the sky telling him when my [censored] needs saving. Curse you and your build. I'm going to have to respec Kai now, just to see how Ninja/Traps compares properly to Ninja/Trick Arrow.

Well thanks man I spent an hour just on the respec it seemed. Now with the stacked set IO bonus's its just a lil bit easier.
Love to play with you man! Fun! Hajima-Ipon

Coral Essex also!

Wow! Lvl 39, Still happy with my respec all those levels ago, a great base to build with.
All my main traps (mortar, poison trap, caltrops) are slotted for recharge. Stamina was an issue in PvP always, and in looong battles in PvE. Well smart slotting for recovery, and three slotting tactics for endo reduction have helped "turn the corner" so to speak. I have about a 10% recovery bonus from IO sets, and it does help a bit. Im feeling it now.

MMs , dont get stamina, your pets should do the work, a few "Miracle" healing or "Positron Blast" in a few powers can give you a noticible bump, without a huge cost by not focusing on completeing a set, but rather going for the "Set Bonus".

The other aspect of IO set bonus' Im going for is defense. Since Ninjas have a great damage output, its balanced with them having a very low defense. The bubble helps a bit, Manuvers stacks a little, but set bonus, like Range, and AoE are what I am trying to go for. Any that get in close get a web nade or some sorta trap, and I have issues in PvP with ranged and AoE in straight up duels sometimes.

Poison maybe better than traps for PvP, because it gives some mobility. Its countered by having over 130% slow attack rate with just two traps, and a great defensive FFG. Cant attack= cant do damage, thats an easy one!

Also, at high lvls (40+) other types of pets may be stronger, it seems that the Ninjas and Oni just have a massive damage output, with tricks n traps to go with them (placate, confuse, hide, defense debuff, hold ect). Plus they run really quick and drop caltrops. It just goes with traps so well.

Still able to solo just about anything on relentless. I have recruited a thug/poison once or thrice to help with some harsh AV-age.

I feel my MM is a great team player, he buffs defense, can and does heal non pets, and debuffs and makes the baddies puke. IMVHO a good asset!

Some builds pwn me still, but I am a wee wee bit tougher with the stacked set bonus' of defense and recovery.

One Love
