Regular Trapper Team

See you guys tonight! Remember, we'll be hitting Bloody Bay first.

Sorry I missed this week guys...Got pulled into a very-needed respec mission in Nerva that took a lot of time, didn't go well at all, and ultimately couldn't be completed because after 20k of debt we decided we just couldn't kill the damn vines fast enough. Seriously, we spent well over an hour just trying to kill vines. It was very, very sad.

So what's the plan for next week?

Uh quite probable a respec team

Hen, I was just about to say something like "Well you're bound to enjoy next week's meet then! "

Respec! Reeeespec!

Seriously though, I remember the first attempt at the all-dom respec, the team was at level 24 and had similarly bad results. Super frustrating. We went back at level 30 (or 32?) and kicked butt though!

As for the Trappers, I'm sure we'll do fine. As specialised a team as we are, we still have the necessary tools. We have MMs, Shivans and lots of AoE to take care of the vines, then massed FFGs to protect us from the trial's AV. Plus we're going to burninate it with triple Ignite!

It was a small team this week, probably partly because of DXP burnout. Those folks that didn't show can go grab a Shiven in BB before next week, if they think they'll need it. Make sure to openly insult other players in broadcast while you're there.

Now that wasnt my fault. I'm sorry but that guy wasnt even a real ninja and was blackening the name of good ninja's everywhere by claiming to be one.

edit. for those that missed it, yesterdays fun fact was "the jack of hearts is the only jack without a moustache".

And this is why I always like to do respecs at the top end of the level range for them. You've got more toys/slots to play with and even if the mobs are still at the same relative level to you, in general you have an easier time.

I must say though, that I've never had a problem with the Villain respec mission, and a couple of MM's on your team should mean you have minimal trouble taking out the vines quick enough.

Just don't necessarily expect to survive the Tree spitting at you whlie clearing vines. You're not going to have full overlapping FFG cover while taking out the vines, as ideally you want to split up and spread out in duo's (IME), and I suspec that the tree will be able to take out a FFG through two/three stacked bubbles pretty easily if it notices you, which drops your defences and makes it more likely the tree can take you out...

When you're hammering the tree itself though, multiple overlapping FFG's and Triage Beacons should make you somewhat, umm, resilient

I suspect that you'll walk it though (I always did on Toybox, but that's because Toybox never runs on missions. There's no need when it just leads to your fire support being left behind. )

Yeah, the tree will almost always faceplant us if it hits, but the team's got a lot of gizmos to help out in that area.

Amongst other toons, yep.

Why? Has Echo been taking his name in vain or something? Do I need to plan my high energy laser/plasma/incendiary swarm missile and Web Grenade/Envelope/Cocoon based revenge?

:P

Tonights the Night for Vines!

Sorry guys, but right now it's looking very unlikely that I won't be able to attend tonight's shenanigans.

Some may know that I moved house at the weekend (into university halls for the summer) and I was expecting there to be a net connection already. There is, but hahahaha it's not that simple! I'm working through both the clerical and technical issues right now but it might even take a couple of days. Very frustrating.

If I don't see you tonight, best of luck!

Copied from the All-Dom thread since it applies:

Well hey...wasn't it your idea that we do the respec missions this week with the theme teams? If you need the respec (on your trapper or your dom) maybe we should just do a Strike Force instead (because I'm totally psyched up to do something epic with the themes this week) and save the Respec Trial for when you get back?
I'd still love to do something more than normal missions this weeks since I've been looking forward to it, but I think a Strike Force would be a fine compromise if you NEED to Respec and can't make it.

Just a thought.

See Canine, I AM innocent!

As for the respecs, I don't need them at all so I won't miss them if I... miss them. They were planned mostly to break things up and to get a nice Respec Reward Recipe at the end of it.

Whether you guys go ahead with the trial tonight or not is up to you, but please don't postpone it just on my behalf.

That's interesting then, given that I'm a 100% Unionite

There must be a pale imitation on on Defiant defiling my name!

Mr. Stompy! Warm up the Plasma cannons!

Now where'd I put that bulk Web Grenade Requisition form?

Its like an alternative dimension over there. Hard to believe there could be 2 Ninja Noddy's.

I think you're being dyslexic. The other guy was Ninja Nobby.

And I am jinxed in regard to respec missions...because I'm not going to be able to be on time tonight. I'm still totally up for tomorrow's Dom night, but Trapper night is again jinxed.

Well... that was a good practise run, hhuh guys? *nervous laughter*

Fortunately my net issues magically resolved themselves in time for the respec trial to begin. Unfortunately the vines bested us last night. The vines conned red to most of the team and it became clear after a couple of laps around the tree room that they were going to be really tough if not impossible to clear. Defensively the team was awesome - only a couple of player deaths by the tree. Offensively, even with a bundle of Shivan pets, we couldn't clear the vines fast enough to proceed.

Chatting with Grizzly Vet after the mission, we kinda decided that waiting until level 32 would be the soundest time to re-attempt the respec (this is what the all-dom team did eventually too). If we were all the same level so the vines conned orange to us, that would also be a good time to try again (though that's not likely to happen any time soon).

No matter. GrizVee also suggested we try the Sharkhead SF next week as something different. I think that would be a cool idea since we'd have no troubles on a SF, plus the SF reward tables are nicer than the trial ones anyway!

Y'see?

That's why it's always my policy to leave respecs until you're at the high end of their level range

Trust me, with a few MM's, you should be able to walk all over the vines, especially once the MM's hit 32 and their final upgrade.

Yes well... Personally I wanted to try it earlier because it wouldn't be a challenge to do so at 32.

Sorry I missed the fun last night, and sorry to here the respec trial didn't end well Fraser will be there next Monday I promise!

No worries, you didn't miss much aside from the debt

Monday, we shall be doing the Sharkshead SF! Because it is awesome! And should be good XP and has a nice reward and all that too.

Look to meet up around 7pm as usual, and looking to start the SF at 7:30.

The Rikti invasion could be interesting of us... standing around outside in an air-raid zone waiting for the aliens to appear, having laid a ton of traps in advance heheh. We need to get to tripmines

Convenitently, the level requirement for the RWZ is 35, and that's the level that Trip Mines become available

Looking forward to tonight! Will see you all at 7-ish!
