I agree. Just that Spellsong worded the "vacation" theory when told the mother couldn't be found. She didn't have that much details at that moment.

I have no idea what Spellsong actually means with name magic, but since people have commented on that, I'm now curious. Is there some existing tradition what 'name magic' is on CoH?
[/ QUOTE ]
None as far as I know.
Several traditions and beliefs are giving much power to peoples names.
Spellsong name magic theme is a mix of various sources. I found developping the "Spellsong tradition" interesting.
The results are that I set various rules to her magic and I now have to think about ways to use her powers. I find it more stimulating than just saying "and I cast a spell which..."

I don't know if I got your correctly (likely I didn't), but just because IC something works or is possible doesn't of course indicate that it could be done to another player character without their concent.
Realistically speaking, almost any character could seriously mess up any other character in right circumstances, if they'd wanted to do that IC. It doesn't happen because characters don't want it IC, and in most cases the other player wouldn't concent to it.
Anyway, I think Spellsong's magic with system and rules sounds very interesting (and quite different from the tribal-y magic brand Subaiku uses). And knowing you, I know you've put lot of thought and effort into it .

i have no doubts that all people invlved are responsible players in this case, that IC it would never happen without consent between players.
but the "i could do [X] if i wanted, it would seriously mess you up" is one of those things
Yesterday, Coile from the Silent Tempest led a team of heroes to a parallel world dominated by Clockworks. Despite their associated might, Coile, the Sword of Truth, Keening Banshee and Shydow Flysh weren't able to fulfill the mission objective when the massive local version of Babbage stood in front of them.
Delaying this operation for later, now knowing what they have to face, the heroes were then sent into a Crey stronghold.
That place, discovered by Sword of Truth previous work with Portal Corps, looked to be an important place, heavily guarded by Paragon Protectors.
Sword of Truth, indeed, was hoping to find her original self, said to be detained since months by Crey, a fact made known public by an stunning revelation from the Paragon Inquirer.
After Shydow Flysh departure, joined by Rakila and later Love Angel, the Silent Tempest heroes had to fight many long and tough battles against the Protectors.
Sadly, not only Sword didn't find her original, not only she didn't find a clue about where she could be detained but she also learned the Revenant Hero Project is flawed : many clones created by the Project becoming increasingly paranoid, look to share thoughts in a surprising hive consciousness, finally becoming hostile to whoever is not belonging to that hive mind.
In other news:
Coile asked if Love Angel would like to join the Silent Tempest, In the end, she did.
Meeting with Azure Sting was finally arranged. She didn't want to talk about Crown much but she did promise to send the files from her and High Noon. So far the files have been delivered and Love Angel is compiling a report. It also was revealed that during her detainment Azure Sting was subjected to Ripmind's powers. Similar, just more vicious attack months earlier drove Coile to a psychosis.
Nightsparrow was found to be alive but her memories from the past six years are gone. This could be just due to the shock from the explosion or perhaps Grinning Nightmare withdrawing from her mind and 'doing stuff'. The girl now calls herself by her given name Melanie and lives with Lady Cobra. To Coile his friend Nightsparrow is dead, but Sword of Truth thinks he should befriend also Melanie. Coile is dubious about the idea, as he is about how things will work out with the original Nadia Forester when she is found.
Operations against both Crey and Malta Group continue. Crown offensive awaits more data. Guys who work with a virus that could snuff out the Earth are not to be treated lightly. When their labs will be attacked it has to be a very well planned operation.
Tonight.
- Coile will not answer his phone.
- He will not reply on Tempest frequency.
- He will not respond on the Militia / Silent Tempest co-operation channel.
- No one will answer the door.
- The lights in the apartment will be out.
- He will not be in base nor has he visited it today according to logs (for those who can check such things).
Oh! Almost forgot. The newest Paragon Inquirer is out today.
Some people get their own cartoon series. Some people get Fiona Sinclaire.
A great Inquirer issue again !

That's funny as hell. And I do find hell rather side splittingly funny
Testerday night, Coile from the Silent Tempest called for the help of his fellow teammate Star Crusader.
Led by Melanie, it looked that Lady Cobra was slowly dying from a viral infection.
Star Crusader, due to his really alien origin, is relatively competent in medical affairs and notably in genetics.
After a quick analysis and a temporary treatment, the alien adviced that Lady Cobra should get a more regular but permanent treatment to cure from her viral disease.
Under the care of Melanie, Lady Cobra stayed at the Silent Tempest base, weakened but safe for a moment.
The discussion then slowly focused on Melanie, who is believed to be the thought dead Nightsparrow.
The Sword of Truth and Coile pointed at some holes in the cosy theory of a six years coma afflicting Melanie.
After awhile, Melanie started to accept the possibility she wasn't in a coma but rather forgot the past six years as Nightsparrow. Coile testing her reflexes also helped to prove it.
Rakila came speaking with the trio as Lady Cobra was resting, to find herself more or less lectured by Coile about the need for her to get a proper heroic license, something Rakila is reluctant to do.
Later joined by Subaiku, Coile and Sword went to Madison Place where murderous jugglers and fire wielders were doing cruel and criminal pranks to the local citizens.
During the ensuing fight, encouraged by Coile to push a bit more the test of her physical abilities, Melanie performed suprisingly well. Or not so surprising... if she is Nightsparrow like everyone is telling her.
Oooh. i8 will be live when I return from work this evening. So... I have some costume editing to do, but i'll mess around with that later on. Also created a villain with some promise. It's my favourite yet so it will hopefully be a keeper. It better be anyway.

Ghost Tiger Investigations ran an informal meeting at Steel Canyon police station yesterday.
It all started when Spellsong encountered the GTI secretary, Winter Heart, in a Steel street, harassed by several electricity throwing Oucasts.
Spellsong led Winter to the closer police station, a place where the detective is often hanging these days, due to increased Tsoo activity.
Informed of Winter presence at the station, Pyranha quickly arrived but the fears of de facto leader of GTI were soon dissipated when she realized Winter wasn't under arrest.
The three women discussed the situation of Winter Heart mother disappearance, a mystery that is still total for them.
Winter's mother vanished totally after a visit to Pyranha appartment.
The regular and first magical investigations led to nowhere.
The detective agency decided, at Spellsong suggestion, to restart the research, interrogating neighbours, looking for odd police reports in Pyranha flat area and so on.
Winter Heart also announced her will to learn more naming magic from Spellsong, asking for new "word books". Something Spellsong turned down at that time, explaining Winter Heart has already to practice the basics of the art before resuming the theoritical studies.
Can't forget the things you never said - 1.12.06
In the past weeks Pyranha has kept busy. Winter Heart's missing mother case is continuing to stay unresolved with no solid leads. Fairbanks checked the place for magical teleportations as well as tried magical tracking of her, both with equal success (or lack of it.) Winter was trying to suggest that maybe her mother is just on vacation but that was quickly refuted. Later in the discussion the possibility of someone trying to get back to Ghost Tiger Investigations was brought up and Pyranha has been now checking old case files. There is few cases where some threats were received, but each was considered to be just empty talk back then. Pyranha will find the people making threads and find out if they had anything to do with this. Fairbanks was going to do additional round of interviews and tests, but that plan ran into unforeseen obstacle.
The apartment building where Pyranha, Winter and Kyo had been living for the past six months has been torn down, and new business center was build there instead. Probably due Pyranha being out of town for weeks, or the girls just being sloppy, they had missed all notifications of that until few days prior to having move. Currently they are staying in city-provided emergancy housing and looking for new place to rent.
Winter Heart's magic studies are going well, Pyranha even took her with her on a mission (helping out MAGI, for free) and was quite impressed by Winter's skills and ability to function at the field. Later on, Pyranha will help her friend to get more practice and get her to apply for hero lisense once the trial is done.
One day Pyranha ran into Samuel Blayne again and had no choice but to work together on one case. Fighting against nasty zombies and even nastier wooden dolls managed to dissolve most of her resentment and they got back in the old easy-going banter and coziness. All of the matters were resolved later over a milk-shake and some secrets were shared as well.
Pyranha had been at the Galaxy Girl statue a few times, the most notable event being Minako coming over to talk and to apologise. The girls talked, Pyranha almost apologising as well and then they talked about school, trying to be casually friendly. Pyranha passed message to Winter that Minako was looking to talk to her. Later Winter and Minako met as well, and to Pyranha's great joy kind of made up. And then Winter even said hello to Doctor Temporis. Pyranha couldn't be happier now that her dear friends aren't mortal enemies any longer.
Pyranha's relationship with Kyo has been a little bumpy lately, mostly because he had been very busy lately and she as well, and there hasn't been enough cuddles. She is doing her best to remedy that, at least.

The night before Coile had gotten a phone call from one Mr. Perret of the PPD. Being unable to meet at the time they decided to look each other up the next day.
Just as Coile got the new call from Perret he was talking to Dimension Diva who was checking out a new construction site at the northern end in Steel Canyon. Getting suddenly an uneasy feeling about the meeting he asked Diva if she liked to make some company and then headed to Kings Row to meet the guy. A message to Tempest network ensure that people who checked where others were would see the announcement about the meet.
Perret was looking for a girl called Rachel Mohkave. The last name rang a bell with Coile and it wasn't much of a leap of logic to deduce that he was meaning Rakila. He was looking for her for various issues, most notable ones being filed as missing by her parents and the police wanting a chat about a grievous assault against a mall guard. There were also the case of stealing and shoplifting.
Sword of Truth had arrived and kept following the conversation with concern Diva hanging nearby. In the end Coile promised to call the detective when Rakila next showed up. Too bad the cop didn't take what was offered as Coile was willing to tell Rakila that she should call the detective. Now he made a promise under duress that he had no intention of keeping.
Later on Rakila made contact and after some persuation agreed to meet Sword and Coile. Coile let Sword go alone at first assuming Rakila would be more at ease with her. A quarter of an hour later he joined them. Rakila was talking about how the assault incident had happened and the discussion centered around taking the responsibility for one's actions and the futility of running. Rakila was more interested in settling her matters with the law than returning home to her parents. In fact that was something she was flatly refusing to do.
As Sword is a lawyer she was confident about managing to cut a deal with the detective about all of Rakila's charges but there was no denying that her parents would have a claim over their underage child. There were a few options, tho, one being having Rakila placed under society's care. That held little appeal and was possible as bad a choice as her parents. Another option was her being declared to be responsible of herself but with the pending charges that was not likely. One last alternative was some other adult accepting the young girl as their charge.
Oh my.
With Rakila having been on her own for half a year already nobody had seen this coming, but by elimination one clear option stood as others fell. With Sword being prepared to leave when the time came there was no sense in her accepting responsibilities that she could not maintain it was all left to Coile. He promised to be Rakila's guardian if needed, with one rule. Rakila would be free to come and go as she pleased but she was required to keep Coile informed of her whereabout as possibilities allowed. No sneaking out or vanishing acts, he wanted to be told if Rakila was intending to leave for the time being. He promised not to try and stop her in those cases.
Rakila considered for a while and decided that she trusted Sword and Coile enough to take the offer with the rule. Now Sword will go to Wyoming to meet Rakila's parents and local authoroties if needed to negotiate Rakila's placement into a new care.
When Sword leaves upon the original Nadia Forester being found Andre has now one more surprise to her. For all practical purposes an adopted daughter.
Dragonfly returns from China uncharacteristically bitter and unsocial.
Professor Michael Civil once known as The Ultimate Victorious Y.Freeza has been successfully excorsised and freed of his demons with thanks to experts of magic within the Militia team, Silent Tempest and New Heroes Union. ((Although this is yet to be played out.. comicbook style)). He has pledged alligiance with Militia, and renewed his hero license. Lastly, he has returned to teaching Biology at Paragon University.
Excellent news on Y.Freeza as he no longer is "that freaky demon guy from Pocket D" but "that dude we saved and probably wants to help out against these Praetorian hordes". Being of the appropriate level with Sword and Coile spells out some nice IC missions against all sort of threats.
Mucho excited about the comicbook project, by the way. Could be this prods me to try one too, after I get the novel done.
Back from Wyoming where she was discussing the future of the young Rakila, Sword of Truth ended in Pocket D, invited by Coile.
Nightsparrow, also present, seemed to have recover from her trauma and loss of memory.
The trio engaged into chitchatting until Nightsparrow decided to resume old traditions : teasing Coile.
The teasing had already begun with Sword reminding Coile the embarassing aspects of being suddenly the "father" (at least the one taking care) of a teenager girl (the said Rakila) when Nighsparrow started her song of love to Coile ears. Coile was finally baffled to learn everything was just a joke from Sparrow... is it really ?
Discussions also oscillated to manly interests, without being a real success, girly stuff looking to be much more funny.
Our heroes also met Hand of Sorrow, Jessica Raven and Martel Spoons (?) while Nightsparrow was exchanging "sweet words" with a woman called Siduri.
Discussions then turned a bit more serious when Martel raised Coile and Sword interest by evocating Crey Industries. But the enigmatic man didn't explain more.
After the late arrival of Love Angel and Y.Freeza, Sword and Coile left Pocket D with those two new companions for Faultline and some mysterious project.
And Angel is dreaming of wedding rings...

Having spent again an unhealthy and worrisome amount of time in the Crash Site looking for Crey leads Coile took a break and headed to [u]Pocket D[u]. That was where he had met his sky goddess the last time, all those months ago. Before [u]Khan Tengri[u]. Before he had lost Nadia in the avalanche. Before the flower. Before the clone. His prayers by the flower had yielded no replies from Nut and now he really felt like talking to her directly, face to face. That is why he was leaning against the bar and whispering a short prayer to a glass of water.
There was a loud crack of thunder from behind him and when he turned to look what had happened there was War Witch getting up from the floor and Nut sitting on her butt and looking dazed. The reknowned albeit dead heroine bid her thanks to Nut for her help and went to look at the dance floor as she often did. Coile went to talk to his goddess.
The discussion centered around the likely subject of Nadia and her state of cloneness. Nut's point of view was about whether or not the two manifestations of the same woman inhabited the same soul or not. Coile didn't quite follow all that. Besides the metaphysical pondering was cut short when Love Angel arrived and proceeded to interrogate the dark-skinned Egyptian if she really was a goddess or just some woman pulling a prank on Coile. Not an unreasonable asumption considering the number of pranks that Coile tended to gather, actually. This sparked a discussion about what was central in any belief and which was more important, the effects of faith or factual proof of godhood.
Rakila got to Pocket D too apologizing for being late. She and Coile were supposed to get a job done but the circumstanced called for some stalling. At one point Nut pulled a stunt of disappearance and reappearance which almost convinced Love Angel of something but then she remembered that also Dustine could do stuff like that. Which she did, popping up behind them and scaring the living bezeesus out of Coile, which, let's be frank, is not much of a feat.
Other people flocked around too. A guy called Despare pulled double duty as a voluntary bartender and being possed by spirits which rendered him invisible after which he wandered around whispering into people's ears weird stuff. A guy called Manice stood around a lot and played with some funky blue information cube and asked a few mathematical questions.
Despite the haunted man the atmosphere was cozy until a big hulking troublemaker came about and started to harass Love Angel and Rakila. Coile stepped in-between them and got pushed around a bit until the opposition got bored. When he dies he'll make a fine doormat. Well, the guy got bored or maybe intimidated since Dustine and Nut joined the group to boost the numbers.
When a winged woman arriver Nut made her company while Love Angel got miffed about Rakila not wanting to go to school anymore. When she learned that Coile hadn't been in a school in years she got more or less outraged. Determined not to have to put up with almost illiterate team mates she demanded that Coile founds a library in base and reads something every day. Coile managed to save just a little face by saying that he'd read War and Peace. Compelled by his robotic mother ND-2, of course.
When the literary circle closed Coile went to ask Nut about the flower and the crystal that the Council had taken from between its roots. Again Nut refused to give directions, only guided him to do what he thought was right. However she admitted that Council probably was not up to no good with the crystal. When the winged woman, called Blue Kestrel, was taking her leave Coile out of the blue struck conversation with her. He was interested in how it was to fly with wings, athough he didn't get around to ask just that. Instead he appeared likely, to an outside oblivious observer, being chatting the woman up. Luckily she saw what he was meaning rather what he was saying, which didn't stop Love Angel from making whispered snide remarks disturbing Coile to no end. Even Nut seemed amused by the display.
Dustine left to attend to her own matters that had been keeping her preoccupied a lot lately and Nut's time at Pocket D as a corporeal manifestation of her had come to an end. Offering one final time her advice to Coile about Nadia she took her leave. It was time to attend to the mission, at long last.
When the Tempest trio of Rakila, Love Angel and Coile got close to the location they were supposed to find the infamous Troll drug dealer they first met another Indian. Her name was Comanche and her game was looking down at Palefaces and came realy quick to odds with Love Angel who happened to think that also Indians needed to go to school. Teenage banter and mild insults galore, until Coile tried to interrupt and managed to sound like he didn't want to work with his team mates but was forced to. A quick apology to Love Angel sorted that matter and didn't even end in an awkward hug, much to his relief.
On the nearby rocks yet another companion was found. It was an old time casual acquiantance, a catboy called Mewl, who promised to help Coile and his group in exchange for treats for which a half-eaten Snickers bar worked adequately. When the five entered the caves they were followed by a sixth that they were unaware of for a while until Full Moon, New Moon's brother or other half or maybe just an aspect of the same, made his presence known. Together the team plowed through a massive amount of Troll opposition until their elusive leader was located, beaten into submission and apprehended.
Once again a glorious victory for the Silent Tempest and their allies and not en entirely and thoroughly embarrassing night for Coile. For that he would have to wait one more day.
When a lover aches, that's when a lover breaks - 3.12.06
During the weekend Pyranha checked up on some of the people who were left disgruntled after Ghost Tiger Investigations involvement. She and Sam Blayne went around to ask a few questions, unfortunately none of the suspects seemed to have anything to do with Winter Heart's mom's dissappearance. Before roughing up the thugs, Pyranha had some nachos with Doctor Temporis, and letting him on the latest 'no clue, not one, no idea what happened' version of her investigations. The two of them managed to have their meal and drinks without any teenagery outbursts or uncomfortability, even when Winter was discussed briefly.
On Sunday, Sam called Pyranha to help him with finding some Circle of Thorns since they liked to perch at rooftops and Sam was sadly earth-bound unlike Pyr who can fly. She helped, and afterwards they were heading to Icon to look for new glasses for Pyranha. Racing to the Icon door, Pyranha almost collided with odd purple lizardy creature. After a lot of apologies and communications problems they established that the creature wasn't injured and it didn't really want to be taken to the leader. It did however need some help finding a lost escape pod, and Pyranha offered her private detective services. Inago showed up then to cuddle Pyranha and offered help with the alien. Negotiating the payment wasn't easy, since Pyranha figured neither radioactive materials nor psychotrips would be quite legal. In the end she was promised *squish* of substance 144, whatever that might be. After getting description of the missing pod, Pyranha came to realize her task was much harder than she first thought... small glowing objects are in abundance in the city currently.
After the alien left, Pyranha, Inago and Sam talked, and the subject of where Pyranha and Winter are staying until they find a new place came up. Sam had offered that the girls could stay in his quest room (and get access to his cable tv, home theatre, jacuzzi, bar and fridge, or at least so the girls hoped). For some reason Inago was less than happy, in fact, he was quite furious. He wanted her to come live with him in the Cirque Lair and her objections of creepy clowns and shadow demons were completely ignored. The quickly heated discussion between him and Pyranha ended up in them both shouting curses in japanese and Inago taking off. Then Pyranha said quick and just a little teary goodbye to Sam and took off herself.
After a beer or five Pyranha called her best friend Winter Heart, and together the girls headed for a crazy night out with too much to drink, trashing evil boyfriends and other girly stuff. A few secrets were revealed, luckily neither could blame the other as they had kept something back as well. Sometime during the morning the girls crawled back to their shelter and slept late in the afternoon.
