Runing back to ship

last night in Warburg we had great fun in a big piched battle, up on the hero beach.

Now I don't have a problem with peeps running back to ship on red makes sense after all but their were some guys who would stay there for a lots of the time, just popping out to use their repulsion bubble thing to pslit up fights then run straight back - they were on full health. They weren't even going for kills.

Is this normal? And what do they get out of it? I did see one or two things about 'ship runners' in broadcast but searching the forums I couldn't see anything about it.

There were definately a lot of safe zone huggers last night. Even a few tanks did it which made me chuckle. I personally don't see the point of running away although this new change to how hospitals work in pvp zones means that people are a LOT more likely to run away at the 1st sign of trouble.

I never tend to run... I don't see the point in it. It doesn't make me happy, or the person that is about to kill me.

[edit]: Oh yeah, I do run when a bunch of Stalkers all try to AS me at once (if I can't take them, that is), but that's only because I think what they're doing is boring, so I don't want them to get pleasure out of it.

i dont see any time when running back to the ship is acceptable, running is fine but running back to the ship at the first sign of trouble is pretty much cheating IMO.

that said last night in warburg was great fun, havent had that much fun in pvp for a while and it was great to see a lot of very good new ppl that i hadnt really seen before. havent been in the zones for ages but was well impressed with ppl last night, particularly cosmic avenger, theregulator (spent 20minutes trying to kill u, got u eventually ), destructor? (globes tank) damn u were annoying, stopped me getting so many kills, u reminded me of max powerz u were that good. there was a very good /kin corruptor as well which was very hard to kill. evo was also very good and annoying with the end drain good to see AoWs other players are getting as good as zak, stryker and sgt. shud b good to have a mass sg arena fight soon.

It may not have been at the first sign of trouble but Coston ventured into safe waters a number of times when i was chasing him

Warburg was a lot of fun but once our team was assembled it became a little dull, there wasnt much you could really do againts the builds available. I went solo for a while but just couldnt pick any off before the heals and rest of team decended so I went off to the US servers for respecs and Hami raiding.

Good night hope to get more in the zone in the future

TO me that reads as a variation of "Stand still, turn your toggles off and don't attack so I can kill you".

If you can't prevent your opponent from running away then you do not deserve the kill.

What a load of balls you deserve the kill as you kicked there [censored] and any one that runs from me I take as a victory any way as it proves I beat them.

And the dont run the ship thing dose sound a bit like dont use Insperations to me. No one likes a runner and I dont really like to run my self but if the ship is in range and it stops like 20+ peeps whaling on me then I will run to the ship and wiat till its safe to hit the beach agian.

Bah, If it does not entail breaking the Eula then its not cheating..This sounds like a lot of the comlpaints 'porters get for using their powers..Or any character/player who chooses to use hit'n'run tactics.

Withdrawing to safety can make the difference between just getting killed all the time or managing to get a few kills each night.

I don't know what level of 'skill' you'd have to possess to be able to prevent someone from running the 50 yards between the beach and the safe zone every time they risk reaching 50% health. That's part of why I dislike fighting so close to Nub Beach, but you have to go where the people are if you want to PvP.

If you don't fight near the safe zone then you don't have the problem. If they never leave the proximity of the safe zone then they won't accomplish much beyond earning the "time in zone"-badge.

If you do then make sure you have KB, Immob, Hold, Disorient, Teleport Foe or enough damage to alpha anyone.

Tbh, if someone runs, I always class that as a win for me.

I never really run with my blaster unless i'm severely outnumbered, the risk of Defiance always keeps me fighting!

Damn you Defiance!!

Last night I got bored of being continually ganked by the same people on my blaster so I switched tactics. If my health went over 5% I'd stand still so I would be killed. I'd then run back and 3 shot as many people as I could find with full defiance/aim/bu .

I'm always running, specially around Blasters so that I can outdamage them and they can't smash my bones or focus totally on me. :>

I call it kiting, helps my Regen cope with damage too when the damage isn't coming in as thick and at once. Sometimes I take kiting to the extremes and run around entire buildings - but that's really to split opponents up so they can die one at a time.

If I run into the safe zone I consider myself beaten, but I never run into the safe zone! *flex*

exactly, the good PVP'rs run all the time, but running to the boat is just cheap and pointless

If I go sit resolutely atop the Globe in WB, I also "won't accomplish much beyond earning the "time in zone"-badge". The best I can do is try to drag people back into the island with me, which is usually to no avail if there's the usual retinue of 5 regens sat making sandcastles on the beach - as new people entering the zone will also (naturally) gravitate to where the action is, even if the action is dull and predictable.

That just means you'll be able to get a bunch of nukes, almost for free.

I see no loss for you.

Well, that'd be great if he wanted nukes, but we're discussing this on the PvP forum. That may give a hint as to why the situation annoys him.

No I CAN read.
What I was pointing out was that no matter what YOU OPINION is there is nothing wrong with players using ANY part of the zone for cover/protection as long as it DOES NOT violoate the eula.

While there are safe zones in the game is a perfectly sound tactic to use them for cover while you heal/recharge powers before launching out on another attack.

Using the safe zones for cover has nothing to do with "ganking" which lets be honest is something I would guess every pvper does.. Because I have seen very few teams not attack a solo target.

Certainly if you part of a solid team then such a tactic is not really needed unless you are grossly outnumbered/outmatched, as a coherent team can create their own "safe zone" of sorts and reduce the need to fall back to a strong posistion.

And when did commenting on other posters "skill" come into it, sure I spend a lot of time feeding the enemy in pvp Mainly as:
1: I am not using a pre-fab pvp build.
2: I find the whole thing very funny.
3: I use pvp as testing ground for my pve powers/tactics and am not overly bothered about how others perceive my "skill".

Anyway, you posted your opinion..fine, then allow other people to post their opinions of why you are wrong.

It just seems that you areannoyed about not being able to get a kill because people run away..So what? deal with it..Have you thought that perhaps people might not want to be defeated, and that there is nothing wrong with that?

Remember we do this to have fun...Not comlpain and sulk when people dont stand still to get defeated (and that part is aimed at all those who also think using inspiratsion, teleport,SJ,SS,Stealth, hide,AS,snipe, clearmind, tactics, defenders, tanks, is cheating).

Oh look the obligatory smiley

And the zone is a PvP zone with the nukes as the actual goal...

You use the nukes to taunt the base huggers.

Get nuke, use it near base huggers, proclaim loudly how easy it was to get because they were guarding the base instead of the nukes. Then state that you're going for even more. Whether you actually do that is up to you and the situation.

Or alternatively, you could try to spec so you have at least one power that's useful against runners. If you deliberately ignore anti-runner powers then you have no business complaining about runners. Teleport Foe is available to everyone but Peacebringers.

Yet again, we're not complaining about people running, just people running into the safe zone. TP Foe doesn't work against characters within the boundaries of the safe zone (at least not for your faction). Have you ever actually PvPed in Warburg, because you seem to be missing the entire point of this thread?
