Fire/Ice Blaster

Hey Hey folks I decided to Make a Fire/Ice Blaster, so far he's a pretty fun toon to play I think I might use the Double xp to get him up a few levels... however the plan I made for him doesnt look promising, I put reasons for my powerpicking in each one I also havent done any enhancing because since the new ED ehancing thing im not sure which enhanncers goes where etc...

I did have a thought about the other Epic pools such as Munitions but didnt really need another snipe/kb/hold power since Fire/ice already have most of em...
I also decided to give Fly and TP a break I seem to be putting them in every single build I make! so I'm open up to new travel power ideas for a blaster...

Any advice muchly appreciated! sorry for the long boring comments!

I would swap these 2, ice patch is a serious life saver and a blaster's best help they can give to a tanker.

Shivers i never took, i dont like the animations (makes you rooted). Instead of that jump kick, go for combat jumping, gives immobilize protection.

Frozen touch is lovely, though melee. The damage is pretty nice (3.2 DoT) but the animation is serious fast. Shivers might be replaced by frozen aura, tomorow my blaster will be high enough (alraedy i gues tonight, 1,5 bar) to get this power, i'll let you know what it is (aoe sleep, combine this with stealth, lovely).

Acrobatics gives mag1 protection to kockback/up/down and hold. The hold can take 1 hold-attack from mobs, often in PvP its not enough. The kb/ku/kd is a great protection, specialy with those banished earthquake powers.

Both Chilling Embrace and Shiver are very useful for the slow effect (movement and recharge) but they don't deal any damage. They are definitely worth taking in my opinion, for both PvE and PvP. I never liked Frozen Aura since it comes too late to be of much use: it would be a good power for soloing in the 20-30s, but in the 40s, you can't really solo that much anyway, and on teams, there are more useful powers for a blaster than an AoE sleep imho. Concerning Epics, I found Force and Elec to be above the others, but of course this depends on playstyle (some blasters really enjoy using Rise of the Phoenix...)

Never, EVER take jump kick, especially for a blaster, the animation time is WAY too high and the effect is teh suck.

Personally I don't like mez protection for squishies, but many swear by acro, so take if ya want.

Don't take shiver, it's no damage, and IMO the recharge is not worth it. Rather drop shiver, take hasten earlier, and TAKE CHAR. 1 blaster hold=meh, 2 blaster holds=boss held, Huzzah!

Acro won't do much to stop you from being Held, but it will help keep you on your feet when the Knockback starts flying - and that's a godsend, because there are plenty of things that get a bit spammy with the Knockback.


DCUO and CO will never see my money. The Citygame will keep seeing my money for as long as I keep enjoying it

any way I devised an build for my blaster... so far I choosen the powers I made with the build up to 13 and like I said if I wanted to hold stuff I go play my controller frank, he has excellent holding abilities...

Some comments:

- You need 3 damage enhances in your attacks (much more important than rchg or slows)
- CE needs endreds (e.g. 2 endred / 2 slows)
- CJ: def is minimal, slot for jump
- SJ: 3 jumps is too much (even for PvP)
- Health: not really worth it for squishies, but if you really want to take it, don't waste slots on it
- Aim: 1-2 ThT_Buf are enough, and that's really if you want to PvP (same with BU)
- Ice Patch: 1-2 rchgs is better slotting
- Try to take Stamina earlier (before BU) and if possible, Hasten
- Acrobatics: slot endred
- Freezing Touch: I would slot 1-2 acc 2-3 holds
- Frozen Aura: as I said, I would take Shiver instead, but try it and see what you think

actually it did, I decided to drop Frozen Aura as who needs an AoE sleep hold when there gonna be woken up with an inferno any how... and managed to somehow fit super speed in also!

I only put three slots in travel powers as an example from fly 3 flight SO's makes ye fly alot faster... yesterday I just put in lvl 30 fly so's and my flight speed has defiantly increased! so I persume with Super Speed its as same as SJ? or am I allowed to have the extra speed slot in there?

Fly definitely needs 3 speed enhances, but other travel powers are fine with the default slot (except maybe TP which can work better with range/endreds), at least for PvE. Build looks good, but I would still slot some endreds in Chilling Embrace.

SJ (1 Jump) + Hurdle (1 Jump) is very close to the cap iirc.

Super Speed does need 2 Run (if you don't have Swift) to cap, but 1 is close enough.

Good point Plight, but Fire/Ice is gonna be quite endurance heavy, so I woud suggest seeing how he's doing around 20 and if he doesn't feel an urgent need for Stamina, to take BU first (might even manage by slotting some endreds and swapping enhances later).
