Kinetics - ?Acrobatics
If you are relying on Transference for endurance like me, acrobatics is really really useful, I would go as far to say almost essential. I had a no stamina flying build and had real problems with it. Acrobatics is far superior and is worth the extra power ( even though it does seem silly to have the jumping pool on a character with a jump in his primary ).
I've found that Kin is pretty aggro causing, enemies don't like it when you drain their speed / endurance / power. So make sure you have some defensive powers in your secondary.

You really don't need to get the leaping pool as a kin, just pick up hover (whether you fly or not) slot it 3 speed and slot siphon speed 2 acc, 3 rec, 1 slow (increases movement speed) and enjoy full axis unsupressed movement thats as fast as fly with a couple of siphons. You wont get knocked back and it's cheaper than acro and uses less powers. People will say acro is good for he hold res but...honestly, it really isn't. The only insps a kin should need are BFs anyway

Didn't take Fly or Leap and got through 50 levels of kinetic offending quite happily. Acrobatics does, of course, make things easier, but a decent kin offender is a very tight build and it can be a nightmare to squeeze in.

How come yours was so tight? What powerpools did you take?

well if you pick most of your prim and sec, it will easily become tight I dont have acro on my kin offender and I easily manage to swoop in close.
of course, i team alot, when you solo I think i'd recommend it for the mez protection

I team loads as I can't really work solo. I am as slow at soloing as a mid level tank but without the safety. Most of the time it is sleeps and stuns that get me, even in teams.

Of my primary Inertial Reduction is worthless ( because I have the leaping pool ) so I don't know, Repel is counter productive for my current playstyle as I need to get and stay close to keep alive / keep my end up. Increase Density is rarely used but useful. It wouldn't bother me to drop it.
Of my secondary I only ever have time for Short Circuit, Lightning Bolt or Tesla Cage. So Charged Bolts, Snipe and Voltaic Sentinel are pretty much wasted.
So I could probably drop 2 powers without caring....

I play my kinetics corruptor solo and in teams and I most certainly never needed something like acrobatics. I like super-hover like Kitty Hellfire explained it.
And since every real kinetics build gets better with a hasten thrown in I have superspeed as a travel power with Inertia Reduction (and the aforementioned super-hover) for vertical movement.
If you really want to be a super-jumper please go ahead and take acrobatics, but you most definitely don´t have to.

it's certainly not essential. my Kin/Rad doesn't have it, and it's not a particularly tight build, I have everything except Repel from primary but only Neutron bomb, Irradiate and Atomic blast from secondary. This allowed me to pick alot more from my Epic pool of choice, but I'd certainly say it's not a necessity.

I'm running my Kin/Dark with fly, though I have hover for when movement is unimportant. Fly is three slotted for end rdx only my other toggles, leadership, is slooted for end rdx as well.
Yes I do run out of end, but with transference not very often mainly when I am drained. Might try an acrobatics build on test but would expect to stick with fly.
I love having acro personally but I really hate knockback and hovering around isnt my thing combat jumpming also a really useful power to have for obvious reasons.

I'm always really torn about this. I know in theory it's a really good idea to get acrobatics, but my kin is my first toon (got loads now, but he's still shiny and new to me), and I just can't bear to play him without fly. Sad I know but meh. As a practical travel power I don't really rate fly, the vast majority of my alts have jump or SS (none have tp, bleurgh ), but i do use a nifty bind to switch on fly and then change freely between fly and hover, so that I'm in the air all the time, either flying or hovering. Very useful for AV's, I can hover just out of their melee range but still be in range of transfusion/transference/FS
That´s exactly the point. In theory acrobatics seems needed, but in practice once you have got used to it you find that you would miss hover more. Just carry some breakfrees. As a kinetic you probably won´t have too many toggles running, so toggle dropping from holds is no biggie.
Plus hover is cheaper than acrobatics, slotwise and enduwise, so it is a little bit easier to squeeze into a tight build... or generally leaves more freedom for your build as long as you have a pool choice left, which is likely as a kinetic.

There's nothing in my primary I can function without, so that's 9/24 choices gone...
Five of my secondary I love dearly, plus one forced pick, is 15/24 gone...
Stamina and Fly (Fly I just would not go without now) means 20/24 gone...
Hasten and SS for the stealth component means 22/24 gone...
And Dominate & Mass Hyp. & Telekinesis means 25/24 gone...
If I did have spare choices, there's other attacks in my secondary I'd rather have anyway (Edit: Not to mention Tactics, which I only wish I had the room for)!
Edit - And I wouldn't build him without Stamina - Transference just cannot keep up with TK, Repel, Fly, Hasten, or even just constantly Speed Siphoned attacking!

My stamina-less build could keep up with everything but TK, but when I got stuck into the fighting my end disappeaered very quickly, so I ended up spamming transference. Now I've specced him into stamina (nearly broke my heart, I was so proud that he didn't have it before, daft I know ), and now he's much better in fights and can use TK a lot more freely too. I wish I had room for tactics too...
I respecced into acrobatics, and i must say i found it very useful, i'd definately go for it. I have respecced my toon on live as full support PvP defender. Heres my build, works really nicely in teams.

How do you chaps get by with so few attacks I like to have at least two for every situation. My current build has no IR or Repel, and while I'm feeling the pinch, I'm getting by OK without.

I would only take the psi blast just incase im in a pvp zone tbh, other than that it is just nice to have

Heh, I did the exact opposite with my Empath
Support's more work because my team expects me to be paying attention rather than being the token slightly daft thinks-he's-a-blaster mincing around near the scrappers eccentric squishy. Happy days!

I agree but Acrobatics may not be the best power to choose, which power you use, if any, should be entirely up to you.
Actually I place equal weight between my kin duties and my blasting (heh ) powers. I'm an Offender and Proud, so there
I'm not a buff-bot, I don't live to keep people SB'd, and I fully intend to take advantage of every (or at least as many as poosible) FS I fire off, because thats how I like to play. None of this cookie cutter business for me, thanks

Rolling a Kin/Rad 'fender atm. I wont bother with precise build, but I wondered how important Acrobatics would be for a kinetic defender?
(Getting Irradiate from Rad secondary of course which is PBAoE, Might get repel at later date for some tomfoolery)
