If needed... I have the Hess taskforce unlocked on Ellie...

We used the Hess TF for the first 'mission' of the Clone-Commotion plot.

I'll volunteer for any of these (ummm, that was a given right? )

I have the striga arc on an alt, and while it doesn't really make sense for her to go IC, I'm happy to stick superior invis on and GM (or being lazy, I'm happy to stick superior invis on and give Doc my keyboard )

Don't forget there's a psi clockwork mission later on the Requiem Arc (it's actually the next on Hiki has I think) if you can't get the actual clockwork king one.

If you need missions (eg Striga) Penumbral Song has the last couple of missions of the Winslow and the Cosmotron (20-25) kheldian arc available. Seems apt.

Portal-Arc wise, my last completed AV was Psychic Babbage, so if Psychic Clockwork King is soon in the 'list' I can get through those missions as quick as possible. (Although there's the timed Mother Mayhem one next >_&lt

Roar, RC demand mission times now!

Please.

All this double-XP business has totally thrown RP.

Nor have people posted when they're free to do this sort of thing, and I hear TFs are planned for Sunday.

Accordingly on Sunday PM over GGOOC I will be organising times for these missions, hopefully people will be on to chat about them.

Missions

Well, I hear that the double-XP has been extended to today as well.

From some points of view, this is a bonus, when it comes to trying to organise missions, on the other hand, somewhat of a disaster.

Accordingly, subject to confirmation in this thread from the generous guy who's got the relevant missions (@Gideon as Penumbral Song) that he's still got them and they weren't used over the weekend, if not we'll find other missions for the same times:

We will be going Ship-Sinking tonight (Monday 24th) at 8pm. Level Range: Any, PvP Zone autoadjust in effect.

We will be going Shadowmaker-Device Hunting on Wednesday 26th at 8pm. Level Range: Any but will be Exemped down to Striga range for challenge purposes.

We will be demolishing the last Nictus Lab on Friday 28th at 8pm. Level Range: Any but will be Exemped down to Striga range for challenge purposes.

We will be placing the final beacon on Sunday 30th at 8pm. Level Range: Any, but will have to juggle SKs due to PI content.

And we will be finishing off Requiem (*) within the week after that.

Plot

If people want to investigate any of the plot issue they've been given, please PM me details so I can get back to you. I'll only do a global update once something's changed to make it necessary.

(*) Or whichever supervillain it ends up being due to a fugue state of tiredness on my part. Maybe Vanessa DeVore, maybe DrVazilock, could be anyone! Wacky fun for all the family.

Just a couple of things - We're hunting Requiem, right? We already smashed Nemesis...

Tonight is supposed to be the Hami raid, with a lot of us saying we'd be there (me, Gid, FFM, and shadowghost as I remember, may have been more) - is there any chance we can wait a bit before the ship run to give the raiders time to get back?

Hami raids usually take at least 2 hours...

In theory it starts at 7, so there's no way we'd make an 8pm mission, there's a slight chance we be there for all or part of one that starts at 9.

Right, put them all on Reminder, I'll show up for the Ship Tonight...

Posted

I believe I'll be again up and about for the ship mission.

Also I'd like to know when the recon mission to Tien Shan was going to take place. I'd like to be there, and if any facility is located, in that strike team.

Aarggh. Scream. Conflicting priorities. Hami-raid vs. Ship sinking... Hami-raid will win (sorry, peeps - never been on one, and I want to). And on Wednesday Shadowmaker Device vs. PnP RPG where I GM. Talk about cruel. I might have to call this week off... again...

I kind of have to be at the raid, since I'm out on the pointy end (Taunt Team.)

If it helps, the last time we used this strategy, we spent more time getting organised than we actually did taking down hami. We'll see.

Kata looked from the computer printout, to Gregor’s smiling face, to Zoullar looking sheepish, to Ana then back to the printout. There was silence for a moment, by the Boomtown gate.

Then as one they all began laughing. Relief, joy, and amazement – it was times like this that were to be cherished, when things went right and seemingly without a hitch. Times like this made Kata glad to be doing her job and, by the looks on the faces of her colleagues, they were sharing the experience one hundred per cent. Even Zoullar’s face was a picture, albeit an odd one for him, of satisfaction and a job well done.

Ana was the first to break the silence.

“Well…it seems to have paid off. I’m glad of it.” She smiled again and looked to Zoullar, “He’s actually turned those plans in to a working model. Unbelievable.”

“Hey, don’t I get any of the credit?” piped up Gregor, chuckling hoarsely and giving Zoullar a hearty pat on the back. The poor alien hero-[censored]-engineer almost choked in shock. Kata looked at him,

“I’m proud of your work Zoullar.”

Thank you, Kata was his telepathic reply.

***

“C.B. have you done what I have asked of you?” Kata was on the phone now, back in her apartment which felt like an alien world after the past few weeks. The smell of turmeric and chillies wafted through from the kitchen and warmed her – Manny was cooking again: Oh good!

“Yes Miss Bromovich, but…are you sure about using these ‘types’? If what you said about waiting is true then, well, I’d hate to be around them when the money runs out.”

“It won’t, trust me on this. The funding I received from the embassy should cover it, plus my severance from the government will hold it together. You worry too much Mr. Blade.” She allowed herself a wry smile.

“And I still say, any hint that you’re planning some sort of militia and I’m out of this. I won’t have any part in regimes.”

“Please, cut the melodrama C.B. We can’t expect every single hero to rally to our cause and, besides, if we did manage it the public would be panicked. It has been hard enough to keep Freedom Corps and the P.P.D. out of this so far. I do not need a stampede of civilians heading for the Green Line in Steel Canyon when we intend to route Requiem’s forces through and into Baumton.”

“I was not being melodramatic, Miss Bromovich, merely advising you of my own position. And I will not be traced to this should it go wrong. You will be taking full responsibility I hope?”

“If the plan fails, which I can assure you it won’t, I will take responsibility. You will not be traced.” Kata held her hand over the receiver and sighed: When she thought about it this act of initiative did seem rather far-fetched. What if it did all go wrong? The potential for hundreds if not thousands of Council soldiers appearing out of portals, it would only take one or two people to panic and then… No, this kind of thinking didn’t lead anywhere constructive. She returned to the conversation.

“-llo? Miss Bromovich?”

“Yes, I’m about to have dinner. I trust you can access the old dance club?”

“About that. There’s some wino blocking the door in Steel Canyon. He’s shouting at anyone who comes near him.”

“Very well. Make a call to the police if you have to and get him moved. Call me when your men are safely in. There are provisions under the main stairwell and blankets on the top level.”

“Okay. I’ll talk to you later Miss Bromovich. C.B. out.”

Kata hung up and found that she had been doodling on the pad of paper by the phone: A large robot with a flamethrower and what seemed to be beam of light coming from its back looked back at her. Perhaps Red had been right; when all of this was over she’d be taking a two-week holiday, somewhere far from Paragon City.

“Dinner is served!” Manny beamed, two plates of hot chilli pesto and pasta in her hands, “Bon Appetite!”

Plots Update

Slow activity on the investigation front, but lots of action planned.

Current News

Davy Jones' Locker

A strike team of dedicated heroes struck a resounding blow against Requiem by sinking a container ship containing thousands of bioengineered killing machines destined for the Striga battlefields.

Missile and other long-range attacks having been foiled by Lord Recluse's forces' ABM and other systems, it was decided that a close assault would be required near the destination point in the heavily embattled Siren's Call sector. Two derelict oil platforms would be siezed and used to launch a disabling attack on the freighter.

Despite heavy pressure from Arachnos groups, and despite near-constant attacks from mercenary villains clearly under the pay of Requiem, the platorms were captured, and a torpedo attack launched to disable the arriving superfreighter, which was then boarded and destroyed.

OOC and IC thanks to the following heroes who attended and fought hard:

Red Commissar, Hana Li, Star Crusader, Meadow, Coile, Subaiku, Luminous Phoenix, Akkarin, Nucliscious, Telepath, and Kitmarch.

The Clone Commotion

The body of the registered superhero Ironclad was recovered from Striga isle this week. A two-minute silence was declared across Steel Canyon in his memory. FSBA press reports indicate that he gave his life against heavy nictus-fuelled attacks during a rescue operation in which a hero new to Paragon, High Steel, was recovered from captivity.

Richard rose from his bed, still feeling dizzy from the exertions of the night before. A wave of nausea crashed over him and he collapsed to one knee.

Everyone had been solicitous of his health the previous night, after his collapse following the destruction of another Shadowmaker device on Striga Isle. It had been rather pleasant, all in all, especially the knowledge that they had saved literally hundreds of tortured victims, but Richard knew something was wrong.

His continuous passive absorption of energy was useful at times, but now it looked as though he might have a serious problem.

He was dying.

The vast quantities of other-worldly energies that had flickered throughout the Shadowmaker complex had infected him like a poison, leaving him weak and almost helpless.

Another wave of sickness struck, and he lost control for a moment, but a moment was enough. A huge burst of energy exploded from him, splintering every piece of furniture in the room.

Barely able to look around, Richard cursed quietly to himself. Crawling across the floor, he scrabbled amongst the ruins of his bedside cabinet for his wristwatch. After a frantic moment of searching, he found it. The glass had been cracked, but it otherwise seemed to still be working. Strapping it to his wrist, he twisted the dial, and an instant later his battle-suit wrapped around him. With a whine of servo-motors he stood.

"Computer. Analysis. Full bio-scan. Target... Me."

"Scan in progress." The soft voice of his computer was almost painful in Richard's ears, and a throbbing headache threatened to cloud his vision. After what seemed like hours, but in fact was only about a minute, the computer began its report.

"Physical infrastructure: Normal. Skin Temperature: Normal. Body Temperature: 5600 Kelvin + 100 Kelvin - within acceptable variations. Internal Structure: Analysis inconclusive - unknown radiation type interfering with scan."

Richard snorted. That was about as good as he could expect.

As far as he could tell he had two - no, three - choices. One: Do nothing and die in short order. Two: Try and absorb enough energy to 'water down' the deadly energy inside him. Three: Find the dimension that the energy came from, go there and hope that some form of osmosis would drain the energy from his body.

Not good choices.

"Oh, well," he muttered to himself. "Got a while before anything happens to me, so I'd better put on a brave face."

At that moment the door flew open and Samantha strode in, a huge grin on her face.

"Hey, there, Dicky-boy. How... Bloody hell, have you been redecorating?"

The Shadowmaker Raid.

Enough's been posted about this really over in the GG thread, so just a summary required to say that the central hub of the Shadowmaker Network was successfully destroyed, crippling Requiem's ability to hide his portal generators with such ease. The resistance of the defense was naturally extremely heavy, and the fact the heroes won through in the end speaks well of them.

Despite the often heavy casualties, I'm not sorry I ran this one experimentally with any highbies along exemped and the mission difficulty boosted. It actually made it a challenge, and made it feel that Requiem's forces at a vital base wouldn't just be pushovers.

It also made people slow down and stick together, not rushing. I noticed that as soon as the exemps went down, people dashed about, split the group, and didn't RP much. So, sorry about any debt people got, and I'm happy to help people work it off, but I thought it went rather well.

Note: There *isn't* going to be an IC mission tonight, the FA and others having already obliterated the base in question during the diversions of Wednesday.

There *is* going to be the placement of the 3rd and final beacon on Sunday at 7pm gathering at the statue. This will be a PI mission, SKs can be arranged.

While I have been absent, please assume most of my alts have been there in the background.
Shanghai Blue, however has been stuck in Croatoa, the constant battle for survival against Requiem's soldiers and his inherent animalistic qualities have driven him temporarily feral.

Any reports from Croatoa mention the discovery of savagely mutilated council troops and any associated mercenaries.

Also, The commanders of Requiem's Croatoa forces believe shanghai to be a werewolf summoned or created by the Cabal.
There is evidence of silver ordnance being used, from shells to small arms rounds.
