I realised last night that there will be one week (should be quite early on in the competition) where I am away due to being on holiday... I don't really want to pull out of the competition so would it be OK to appoint a reserve for my match that week? I would nominate them well in advance so that there wouldn't be any question of who was actually filling my shoes...

Union is awaiting one more entrant, then the signups will close.
The draws will be posted in a fresh thread for Union and Defiant, ready for the first two rounds to occur on June 1st.

If this goes as well as we all hope, I'm certain it will be repeated, perhaps with a couple of weight classes - perhaps a 12-13 and a 48-50 banding in addition to the 38-40 band used this time? Not sure, it will depend a lot on what we learn this time round.
The real thing that will determine if this works is how much work is needed to organise it. So far (touch wood) it has been ok. We'll see if that is still true tomorrow evening.

Are rounds 1 and 2 taking place after one another, or are they set a week apart? Also to clarify, inspirations are allowed, as are those annoying arena buyable powers, right?
Ive heard of some people unable being show up, so I guess its a good idea to stay tuned for possible replacements from the queue

After each other, we'll probably have a 20 minute break in between rounds to allow people to sort teams out and so on.

As long as the power fires inside the arena, or the buff applies, it's allowed. As long as it's not an exploit, it's fine.
So there'll need to be a section for the competetors to stand to one side before the match. It sounds paranoid, but there will be those who spam buffs/heals, and they'll carry over into the match unless they're left to wear off. Like the FF bug, where you can apply the two personal FF's to someone, then reapply them straight away when you're in a different area (or just a mission), so you get a x2 stack of them.

Ah, but that doesn't work in the arena. I've tried to do it on my sonic defender before :P
All powers are instanty recharged in the Arena as well, even though it looks like they are recharging. Just click on them and they will activate. Hate that bug >.<
