Hi there!

So the story is. I bought this game back in 05 and have been slowly, but surely, leveled my EN/Fire Blaster to 34 over, mainly, the first two years. Other things occured (read: WoW). Anyways. I have a really hard time speccing and figuring out enhancements. Tbh, I never really got into it and just used/pressed randomly.

So, I have a few questions that might make it easier for me to get back into CoH:

1. I'm an EN/Fire Blaster. Is that any good? Can I... change powers?
2. I really need a spec for this Blaster. So far I've just taken about any power and some random enhancementslots and just used the enhancements I had laying around. Does anyone got a clue on how to get me on the right track? I'd like a build that's also good for soloing (as I've never been able to do so before).
3. Has there been anything else or major changes from, oh say, 06/07 that I should know about?

Anyways. Any answers to these quite big questions will be deeply appreciated!

So I'm a level 33 Energy/Fire blaster sologrinding in Bricks. A bad [censored] way to grind is to pop Aim and jump in a crowd and go Nova.

That's one way, but are there any other?
I can take out 1-2 (maybe 3) at the same time around my level without popping Insps, but are there any other secret way of sologrinding?

Could you explain a little more about "automatic execution"? Dunno what it is.

Well, first of all, blaster, and especially a /eng blaster is far from useless in PvP. It is a question of reflexes. If you don't have any +perc power that allows you to see stalkers (like my ice/eng pvp blaster is), a good tip is to have a high-strength power (in /eng's case, Bonesmasher) on automatic execution (have the green ring around it) and when you get ASed, have the "target nearest enemy" (default ctrl+tab) handy. With luck, you blast off the stalker's mez protection effects and stun him, leaving him ready for further loving while you pop up a respite and pummel him to heavens above.

If this doesn't feel like the tactic for you, keep moving a lot, stay in water (stalkers cause water ripples like everything else) and listen closely - when you hear the sound of build-up, you should be running. Blasters are the fav prey of stalkers, since they are squishy and rarely have auras that prevent stalkers from attacking.

I have two blasters myself who both work in PvP quite well, first one is the mentioned ice/nrg who works well against everything else, but has problems with almost any stalkers, and the second is a ice/dev that has no problems with non-expert stalkers (so much +perc he can see a stalker from good distance away), but brutes and dominators cause him endless grief.

PvP is a bit of rock-paper-scissors. No matter what you do, there will be always something that can beat you. For blasters, that's usually a stalker.

I'm a Power/Fire blaster myself and Stalkers two-hit kill me before I even see the "Assassin strike" sign over the head of my hero.

Now, in what way in the world can this be balanced? Tell me that.

I have the same problem, and I usually get debt in Sirens when I try to solo there and a villain attacks me, but the NPC kills me.

And btw, why are we PvP'ing? We don't get anything from Reputation, do we?

All I have to say about PVP: Stalkers are overpowered.

So much tactics to kill one stalker? Any tactics for killing a blaster? No, just click - attack - win/loose.
Stalkers are way much overpowered if they're impossible to kill one-on-one. Even with a Scrapper which kind off is the same AT.

I bet ur all Stalkers. If not, then ur hackers.

As far as I've figured out, there's no point PvP'ing against Stalkers as they take 75% of ur life with assassin strike.

We were a team of 4 and still couldn't take out 1 stalker. Unfair, anyone?
