Congrats to everyone who was there! Glad to hear it went well. Hopefully by the next raid, I'll have a toon high enough to join in!

- Getting to the blob. This was a real pain for those teams that did not have fly. Group fly is OK but if you're in one of the three 'key' teams of illu's, tanks and kinetics that need to drop in first, trying to get everyone with fly is probably the way to go. I also think something is wrong in the Hive as 'swarm' cluds didn't just slow recharge but actually de-toggled our entire team en route. Thanks to Sara Aegis for having recall friend as we wouldn't have been able to get in place without it.

[/ QUOTE ]

I know that in the Eden trial some of the swarms have -fly so they may have been the same ones. I think the group fly method was only problematic because Dutch didn't realise Hami and friends had such long range. I'm not sure you will necessarily be able to find enough tanks with fly as you had to bring me in to replace the epic holder tanks in your team without taunt :O.

[ QUOTE ]
- The drop. This is VERY tricky as getting the tanks far enough away from the other guys did prove to be a bit of a problem. We tried to move away from the 'turtle' but people were so far spread out that it was hard to see where the turtle began and ended. It was also proving impossible to actually get in range to taunt/epic hold him at some points due to the sheer number of heroes. The fact the tanks were all in the black costume and repeated shouts for the hangers on to move away from us were ignored was just annoying.

[/ QUOTE ]

The drop was somewhat chaotic. Next I'd advise the tanks to bring lots of break frees as well as awakens, being unable to get back up and taunting ASAP after the inevitable face plantage from Hami attacks pre healing blanket was so frustrating.

Maybe stating that tanks go on the north side of Hami from the start may have helped, but either way there are still people who will not listen.

[ QUOTE ]
Still the usual noob problems that seem to go with the territory of people having no idea of the plan but deciding they can order the attack, tell people when to use Vanguard, not turn off useless powers that cause lag, etc but most of them were kept under control.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think there was general confusion among everyone about what powers to use. Luckily there weren't too many people attacking so we got him held before he got to a spawning point.

As my first raid I really didn't get the whole weird lag thing or appreciate what it meant until most of the way through the raid. Someone should probably write a how to deal with Hami lag guide, how to read the combat log, targetting through pets etc. However this will only really help forumites.

Hehe, just like to congratulate the first holding blaster team!
Double deserves a special mention as he managed the difficult task of keeping 8 blasters up to date and using (mainly) holds rather then geting bored an Nuking the blob.

First up adding my thanks to the list - great job J

Was one of the 101st "Not Quite" Airbourne Rad's who got dropped in.... Whilst previously stated that our group flyer d/c'd and we dropeed that's not the case...

In fact, knowing that Rad is clearly the Uber set and clearly capable of soloing Hami (at least till the Test patch goes live :P) it was intentional (am I convincing anyone? )

Thanks to Catherine Wheel for leading us Rad's - great job...

I'll make one observation that I hope might help us next time - that is that a couple of the Sings were targetting Mito's not Hami - only way we could tell if we were holding the right thing was to use the combat log and see exactly what the hold hit.

Perhaps look to have the pummeling team working on the mito's closest to Hami whilst we are getting the holds down? I don't know cos the lag was pretty insane once the pummelers arrived. That or just make sure everyone knows to check the combat log to see your target.

Other useful things - /assist is a useful command - I was able to target a teammate if I lost lock and hit /assist - this locks me straight to their target, be it Hami him/herself or the Sing they're using. Doesn't seem to work once ur on a Sing to get to Hami but that could have just been lag related.

Was hectic stuff and good fun

Gratz too Paragon Girl, who also had the last hit on Hammi for his defeat.

Well that was my first raid.

I must say I was a little disapointed. People said it would be a debt fest for non 50's. But I didn't even get a single point of debt.

Seriously. It seemed to go well, even if some of my fellow bashing types did nothing but moan and grief in Eden whilst we were in the holding phase.

Thanks to Green Jet for keeping us up to speed on what was going on. Thanks also to the Big J for organising it all.

Even though it was really hectic and stupidly mad, I did actually enjoy it. I died... 3 times, I think. It was getting hilarious at the end when you clicked a power, went to the toilet and when you got back it had only just fired. I am sooo wearing my Hami costume for ages

The only thing that annoyed me was the idiots you got there, getting all impatient outside the Hive and bringing in their capes and auras and all that - how to these people get to 50?

And I still have to say a big thanks to Syncline, Double, PowerSWAT and the rest of the people I teamed with over the last day or two for actually getting me to 50, and sorry I had to be a [censored]. Also thank you Double for letting me be in your holding team, and I hope I wasn't too n00by

I've just realised I've ended every paragraph with a " "

They annoyed me so much with their
"ZOMG!! We're doing this wrong, we're going to fail!"
and
"ZOMG! I can't see Hammi, is he defeated?"

I think Jiaozy should dish out the names of everyone who sent him these nooby tells, if not in public, but too me at least, so I can laugh at them forever more.

Awesome work, Jiaozy and all team leaders for keeping things under control and not letting the idiots and the impatients get to you. The lag was quite an interesting experience.

Hoping we'll be raiding more often in the future, although looking at the sheer size of the event I have to applaud anyone who has the nerves and ability to organize it and keep it under control. More regular events would probably make it go smoother, though.

As an aside, apologies if I was briefly causing echo (or something) on the teamspeak server. I just installed the programme while waiting patiently in the sidelines like a good scrapper that I am, and wanted to check it out. I'll need to sort it out later so it actually works.

For those who do plan to use these tactics again, there are two a couple of areas we kind of fell down on.

This was the first time it's been attempted in the EU server, I'm glad we didn't end up crashing the server or getting wiped.

Those Devouring Swarm have a -TP, -Fly, -Jump debuff, so you have to stay REALLY high to avoid them and stay as high when approacing Hamidon cos he can attack you at almost twice the range of a snipe.

This has been the trickiest part, never had any experience of this so I had to make up things on the moment as many things were just guesses in my head, so I had to try it out.

[ QUOTE ]
- Target Hamidon through the pets. With Hamidon disappearing so much, it was getting tiring hearing people saying 'I can't see him' every 10 seconds and ignoring calls to target through the pets. From beginning to end, we had a couple of singularities who had a lock on Hami for the entire encounter but people didn't seem to want to use them.

[/ QUOTE ]
Thusfar I've seen this problem at every raid I've been at, people don't understand what 'Target trough a pet' means, serious.

[ QUOTE ]
Hami seemed to be held VERY quickly. Unfortunately, the lag and server slowdown made it impossible to confirm.

[/ QUOTE ]
Actualy, we took him down in like 15 minutes of server time, maybe less..
My Vanguard boost lasted for 18 minutes, so, since it took us 2 hours odd to take him down, my guesses are that 1 in minute was equal to 12/15 real life minutes...

Every raid leader wish he could kick griefers, n00b or generally annoying people from the Hive, but since we can't, we'll have to stick with them...

I really wish I could remember them so I could ask the [censored] if they're still sure of what they're sayin..
But I was getting tell from half the hive and 25% of the people outside, so replying, remembering and sending off the right answer to the right people was a real issue...
I've had some moments in wich I never understood what was goin on between tells, global channel, team, request and broadcast(all the channels I was looking at, I removed everything else)..

I will say i came into the hive not knowing what the plan was but i have to say once it got started i liked it and i still havent read what the plan was, what i do is:

"allow people to do things how they planned to and just listen to the organisers before any action"

I wish more people do in the future and more successful raids are to be had! Well done Jiaozy and everyone for such a stirling job!

Hey, I was just following Jersey's lead mate. I wasn't an officially designated leader, I just formed a team of those scrappers that were left over and made sure we stuck to the gameplan.

In the spirit of "educating" those lvl 50's in the Hive with capes and auras a'glistening - Invulnerability Tanker (I know your name) at the staging point who was intentionally trying to train GM's down onto us - (with the immortal phrase "At least we'll have something to do") next time mate, why not have a breath-holding competition with your mother-sister-cousin instead?

i noticed a selfish tank and defender in the middle of the hodling phase who decided to ignore jioazys and other leader's requests to turn their shields and armour on. those kinda people are just stupid for trying to wreck a great raid plan and don't deserve to have level 50s.

The echo problem is usually fixed by changing your settings in Teamspeak to "Push to Talk" where you assign a button on your keyboard to activate your mike. Drop me a tell when your next on if I'm about and I'll help if possible.

And apologies from me to anyone on TS last night when I went into swearing mode - very rude and entirely uncalled for

Hang on a moment.

This whole time thingy thing... could anyone explain it to me? Did we enter a slow-time-warp or something? Did we come out of the Hive actually about half an hour after we went in? Did server time pass differently for everyone else on the server? WOoOOO0000?

Posted

Heh I'm not even going to try and think about time cos I go all cross-eyed when I do but I wonder if the day/night cycle is out of sync in the hive vs in Eden now because of that... uh-oh, gone cross-eyed now.

well maybe we didnt actually fight hami yesterday, maybe we were all part of chuck norris's dream!

No worries Idris - it just makes it next-to-impossible for people to talk I have been guilty of the same offence when I leave my finger mashed on the Ctrl-key by mistake...

The way round it is either to set TS to push-to-talk (not voice activated), or wear a headset so that the speakers don't feed back through your mic.

Look forward to seeing you again in TeamSpeak!

I guess I didn't explain that clearly enough eh Doc?

must say the drop was kinda chaotic due to a bit of miscommunication between PA team and the other key teams that have to move in first. Us droppers went in before most teams were formed so we could spread out over the blob. We did a few test drops and found out how we could position the decoys in such a way every mito was aggroed and was shooting AWAY from the nucleus.

Seeing teams were still formed we were hovering up there waiting for the signal when the teams were about to move in so we could drop the decoys. However that signal didnt come and after that I heard some shouts from the tankin team and saw alot of orange names appearing, on which we decided to drop right away. After this, there was a serious lack of orange names.

Must admit I had quite some fun up there seeing complete teams fall into the blob and die . Then again, also remember that time where I was in a PA team with only 2 people with fly and one of those had group fly to keep the rest in the air. Shortly after our groupflyer got shot out of the air and the 6 people without fly were just hovering there for a bit, saying "was that our flyer" "ehh... yea..." "uh oh.." "this is gonna hurt.." after which the complete PA team but 1 fell into the blob .

"god, how many devs did hami have to sleep with to get ED?"
