    Vista and CoH

    Heya guys.

    Back after a busy week.

Righto I recieved the following message from GG (thanks GG!).

    Here's a PM I got about it:

"Judging from the thread on the Euro boards it looks like the person has not installing updated driver or they think they have installed but have reverted back to the old ones. Make sure all the drivers get uninstalled, make sure when he does that he is not connected to the internet so vista cant redownload more of the microsoft version of the drivers. He might want to do the uninstall from inside the device manager. I know with some hardware they give an option to delete any previous drivers so windows will have nothing to revert back to. Also the message about the drivers not being updated on login may or may not go away but should not be what determines what drivers are installed. Have him to check the date of the drivers on the hardware that is installed."

I am gonna try this now. How can I make sure that all previous drivers are uninstalled? Some people reported adware with Driver Cleaner so Im slightly suspicious. FFM are you using the new 7.4's?

If someone could provide me with a step by step guide to the above, I would be most most most grateful.

    Thanks for the continued help.

Yes, its defo working at 85hz, the game should support that right? I tried at 60hz and it didnt work either. This guy on the USA forums seems to have the same issue.

    USA Boards

If anyone has a US account, could you pm him to find how he solved it? Or post a thread in their Tech section for me?

I am sure I am not the only one who thinks on paper this should be working.. I just dont know why its not.

Ill try setting res to match res again..

But I'll tell ya now it wont work..

    K and S

/edit: Ok we tried matching the Res/Ref rates to the CoH ones via tweak CoH, hell we even lowered both value too see if it might work, yet still no luck.

We also tried with Omega drivers earlier, they worked, but gave the same borked brightness etc as the default drivers had given, think they were XP ones.

This just isnt working, not for any reason it seems, other than its chosen not to. Those things didnt seem to do much at all. Im not being an idiot, I am using the right drivers etc. The only other thing I can think of is uninstalling.. But it defies sense, because it worked without these ATI 7.4's. Just with borked graphics.

Shall I reel off a full DXDiag assement thing? Will show specs etc in more detail than I know about..

    S and K

EDIT: As promised. I deleted some thing to save space and for ease of reading, if you need them please ask.

    Vista and CoH

Ok I did those steps, even changed my settings to windows classic. Seemed to me there was a lot more activity than normal, maybe were getting closer, I dunno just feeling positive.

On the other hand it didnt work still stuck at the Loading Banner.

My res is 1280x960 and my colours are 32 bit. Any more info or ideas you guys have please do air them.

Thanks for the help guys, keep it coming!

    Vista and CoH

Doing these things now. Report back in 5 minutes.

Ok Ive noticed with TweakCoH (after figuring to select EU CoH, Duh!) That the figures I set eg: 1280X960 85 hrtz, keep reverting back to 43 hrtz and the same res. Is this intentional?

    K and S

/edit: Solved the issue of reverting stuff.

    Vista and CoH

    Sadly not.

    More suggestions?

It looks to me like either no chance of playing CoH or reroll XP when a day is free..

Shame, but we cant figure this out!

    Vista and CoH

    Radeon 9600.

Ive done a bit of reading on the issue, quite a few people are having the same problem, for varying reasons.

@ A data file is present in CoH directory thing. - No
@ Issue with Dual Core Processors - No
@ Issue with drivers etc - Probably

Im pretty sure it just to do with the driver, unfortunatly for all the research of finding others who have the problem, hardly anyone gave any good advice. Ie: Its a driver problem, Or I dont know etc..

    Its Vista Ultimate btw.

    32 bit.

    1 gig of RAM.

    AMD Athlon XP 3000+ Processor.

Alright its not a state of the art machine by a longshot, the annoyance is with the fact that it worked fine untill Vista was used..

He's put the 7.4's on and the Control Centre this morning, no good.

Tried running in varios modes etc.

Please keep the help comming guys.

    Thanks,

    S and K
  10. Savant_EU

    Vista and CoH

Ok we have tried running with those 7.4's still the same situation. Not being silly, but when you run the .exe ati driver package thing. When your finished, theres nothing left to be done? We have not missed a step have we?

I cannot think of anything else..

Display mode of 85Hz wouldnt be a problem?

Or that DX 10 is used?

Its weird, the little red light thing blinks away happy as lary while booting CoH up, yet the screen never changes from the "Loading" banner.

    S and K

    Little more info, from Dxdiag.

Main Driver: atiumdag.dll, atiumdva.dat, atitmmx. (goes of screen)

    Version: 7.14.0010.0489 (Eng)

    WHQL Logo'd: Yes

    DDi Version: 9Ex

    Vista and CoH

Ok downloading the 7.4's now. Then I'll download that driver cleaner. I take you install the Control Centre aswell? Any settings on there that might have to be changed? The fact that we got CoH running although it was borked and that Ive played WoW (Using the auto update drivers), suggests that its not a motherboard issue at this time, does it not?

Thanks FFM youre being such a great help.

    K and S

/Edit: Pfft we dont have $9 spare!
  12. Savant_EU

    Vista and CoH

    Hi guys.

Posting for Krunch, naturally he doesnt want to "Sub" untill his game is working.

    He tried downloading those 7.5's.
He selected purely the driver not the aswell CC.
The new driver applied fine (we think).

However when he then tried running CoH it got stuck on the "Loading" banner, the one that comes up for a few seconds when you run CoH.

So he's gone from having a game that had borked graphics, to no CoH at all.

Running DXdiag or whatever showed no issues.

Being a bit of a noob, he doesnt know what to do, must he delete the previous drivers or something? The ATI driver seemed to apply fine though.

    Please help if you can.

    S and K

PS: No he does not have any data folders in his CoH folder.
  13. Hehe, just like to congratulate the first holding blaster team!
Double deserves a special mention as he managed the difficult task of keeping 8 blasters up to date and using (mainly) holds rather then geting bored an Nuking the blob.
  14. Hey just got 45 (and then some) so if I can make it I'll join the Raid.
