Sonic Blast, what's it like, huh?`

I'm mulling over a sonic/kin at the moment, sonic blast for the single target disorient (better than a hold I'd say, since it gets past acrobatics) you can grab, but beyond that I don't know nuthin' about it, so what's good to get in this set? I've had a little peek but nothing more than that? What I'm really interested in is the single target damage capability, but any first hand info on the powers would be good.

Some powers are stupid copies of exsisting powers (that oae knockback is the storm knockback power) and some have serious annoying animation/sounds (aoe debuff, with a werewolf sound). That is from blaster-view talking though. What i see, the base damage seems a bit lower then the other sets, compensated by the resist debuffs it can do. Yet with /kin i think you can boost your damage back to normal 'blaster' strenght.
The stats of sonic/ can be easily found in most of the coh-builders around.

I was having doubt to take either /fire or /sonic for my ice/xx corrupter, /sonic has some pretty cool powers (great resist debuffs, good shields and a aoe/self shield 9% base resist).

-Res on every power it has.
Your attacks, -Res. Single target -Res powers. Group/Cone -Res powers.
The shields look good as well!
I've picked up the first 2 shields for my Sonic/Sonic Corrupter. Their working out quite luuuuuurrrvely and the teams love 'em!

I'm not really sure about sonic attacks, most of it is smashing/lethal damage, which is easily resisted with most, both PvE and PvP. But you get some cool resist debuffs, which may even the odds and help in teams, but it has no sniper attacks, what a rip.

Sonic attacks seem nice to me. They are 50% smashing, 50% energy, but I've only got Shriek, Scream and Howl. As far as PvE is concerned lethal is the most resisted, with smashing as the secondary most resisted. It has no sniper attack yes, but I've never found the sniper attacks in blast sets very useful anyway.

As far animations and sounds are concerned it is not a really fast set like Ice, but on the other hard it isn't hopelessly slow either. It seems nearly chainable with the attacks I've mentioned below so with Shout I suspect I will have a reasonable attack chain without having to resort to recharges. The sounds might get old after a while but they seem to use a different sound per attack so I expect it won't get that tedious.

Also Castle confirmed the accuracy recently and the only ones that have reduced accuracy are Shockwave and Siren's Song, the cone knockback and the cone sleep.

Sounds good to me, pretty much what I was expecting. How many single target attacks do you get, not including the disorient one?

Three that I remember.

Shriek, single hit, Scream, a good sizable DoT that I always found good damage, and Shout. I might be mistaking the names, it's been a while.

Shout is very close range though, counts almost as melee since you need to go right in. It's the most damaging though.

I had a blaster with Sonics, was fun, but I found it lacked a third attack long range when I didn't want to go close.

I'd usualy let the fight start and use my two long ranges, then when it was well under way I'd use the cone attack, which would always bring a few running to me. I'd meet them with bone smasher, Shout and... whatever that power was, that did knockback, the first one.

I'd seriously consider getting a whale song CD and listening to it for 3 hours straight first. If you don't develop a nervous twitch, I'd say 'go for it'.

Sonic/Kin has one of the most awesome combos available to it (Sleep + Fulcrum Shift + Nuke) but it takes a while to get there...

oh and plenty of melee types (PvP ) will resist disorient - the -RES is very nice and I can only imagine what sort of damage you eventually put out by combining that with Kinetics.

Equally, they'll resist a hold if I took Ice Blast. Disorient is better as it sneaks past acrobatics

It is.
And since you are a good little sonic/kin with hasten and syphon speed stacked you can pull this stunt quite often. *looking forward to Ghost Widow induced fun factor increase*
