Is something wrong with AR?

AR is considered one of the, if not, the weakest primary powerset for the Corruptor, mainly because a lot of it's power is reliant on Lethal/Smashing power, and a lot of enemies do resist this.
So not many people choose it because of this reason. Hence not a lot of topics on it.
However, there are some decent attacks with AR and I've personally enjoyed playing with this powerset, so I advise you to give it a go and see how you get on.

not to mention stuns, impressive damage from a flamethrower, knockback - it's a bag of tricks. It's also got an increased base accuracy, so that helps with lower level slotting for enchancements.

It's mainly Lethal, then a bit of Fire, then a smidgen of Smashing, actually. Lethal is where it falls down, as most mobs and their dogs resist it like you're tickling them with bullets.
It's more a utility set than an out-and-out damage set, with some neat tricks you can pull depending on secondary. Beware the horror of the rooting animations, though.

Sorry I don't know why I mentioned smashing on the scales of lethal.
In any case, it is a nice powerset to have with as Frazzle and Syn said it does have a bag of tricks that can get you out of messy situations.
The rooting animations are annoying but I think you'll get use to them.
I'm created a AR character recently and am finding it most fun. Personally I think it's a more interesting powerset, and I enjoy the tactics involved with it.
I still want a Tommy gun though

i had and AR/traps corr i deleted him about lvl 18, wasn't fun to solo prob to do with traps coz AR is fun, i have a friend who recently made a AR/kin and he says it rules, seems to eat end between 10-15 but if he wasn't trying to keep up with 2 brutes as well as shooting at anything in site he would be fine.

Not for much longer though. Leaves other option open though - wouldn't your AR / DM corruptor be useful with flight Stalk? Holding/slowing could be devasting with AR from above. Maybe.
Thanks for all your replies. since the start of this thread I've gone from lvl 0 to lvl 11.
so far I have founs the AR to be good. Fair amount of a damge, good knock backs/stun. I miss a little too often.. but thats by the by..
the kin is great to heal in groups and solo.
I am finding my self as a utility player in groups, fixing the holes and healing.
so far so good
assault rifle is fine, the number crunchers will tell you otherwise but basically, if you have fun then go with it.
Flamethrower and full auto will do a LOT of damage to a LOT of baddies
great build for pure fun, throwing in a grenade and watching the whole mob fly away and seeing ragdolls in the full is great but imo the lack of build up is a major thing, most of your attacks are resisted, and with no build up to increase for a burst that resisted damage just isnt up to par with the rest, but, the acc is a very good bonus
Hi folks, I've just come to CoV via the Wow and D&D route.. and have just about no idea about character build (other than what I read about from you lot, if you could only agree with each other)
I designed a coruptor with eh bakc story of a sniper who fell in chemicals and as such is a super sniper etc etc. on powers I choose AR and slug along with that tranfer engery thing.
I never see any posts about AR? .. is it a no no?
I'm goign to try it out tonight when work's finished.. but in the meantime I'd welcome any advice on a starter newbie corupter.
