what to do with /fire ?
The fire secondary for blasters has for a while been regarded as being the crappiest of the secondaries for Blasters.
I only have ring of fire cause you have to take it, and build up for the buff, I used to have fire sword circle but respecced it out because of the delay for a couple of seconds after you've used it, which could leave you a bit vulnerable.
I don't have access to my hero planner so I can't remember my exact planned build but I'll probably take fire sword (for toggle dropping ability), I had planned to take burning aura for a bit of anti-stalker measure and burn with one of the epic holds.
I've heard that hot feet is pretty useful against melee types if you stand in the middle of it.
Generally the fire secondary is pretty pap and as result you'll find that you'll pick more powers from your primary and power pools.
Might be usefull too, consume. Great when you're low on end after a nuke and leech it all straight back
most of the powers are aoe based, between the mobs. So when you are in party with a troller or good agro tanker, you can pull out those powers. Solo, i wouldnt suggest Hot feet is a range keeper, seen it used by a few /fire blaster and it works quite good.
Though with a hold power, burn is pretty usefull, since you can hold->burn and move on to the next mob while the holded one gets a (3 SO slotted dmg) 10 BI.
Oh and the fire sword circle i believe uses massive endurance to activate.
If you go for the Force of Nature epic power, pop a few break-free's you can actualy play for a semi-fire tanker

As stated above me, Consume and Build Up are the must have powers. You'll want Build up for your nuke and (assuming elec/ has aim?) combining it with aim will give you a 166% damage bonus for 10 seconds.
Altogether I took:
Ring of Fire (mandatory)
Fire Sword
Build Up
Fire Sword Circle
Consume
I agree that FSC has an annoying post-hit animation (like all sword circles) - but I gave it 5 slots because I love it - the damage surprised me
Hot feet is... not very good for a blaster unless you blap a lot or like PvP. Blazing Aura is useless unless you're fire/fire/fire and decide to become a tanker at lvl 50 Blaster's Burn has changed from its description and no longer has the break free effect (or so I've heard?)
Overall the thing I ended up liking about /fire is that I didn't want or need much from it. Which left me to take two travel powers, the fitness pool and recall friend.
staying ranged with fire as a secondary isnt really an option unless you pick it just for the few that have already been mentioned - buildup, consume and maybe fsc for a finishing move (coz of the 2 second delay), i'd recommend either a rewrite to a less melee dominant secondary (or one that gives more support to your primary like energy or electric) or change styles - push the holds and immobilise side to the max, then use the fire aoes.
i've got an ice/fire and its very effective at this, even with just a couple of slots in the secondaries, but shes really in the thick of it in melee at all times.

With ice as primairy it would be way easier, double hold is great control.
Nice would be:
hotfeet->snowstorm->blizzard (tripple slowed)
pop a cab or 2
BU/Aim -> consume -> FSC -> Burn -> that lower aoe power.
I gues that's a realy high aoe damage output.

I like playing with my fire/fire blaster. Iv taken basically everything from my fire secondary and the AoE damage you can unleash is just awesome. But as someone already said you better team with a good controller or tankie otherwise you tend to die a lot ...just wait till i get my "Rise of the Phoenix!" from epic pool!

after playing cov for quite a while now ive re-discovered my very first coh toon, created 1 month before cov launch. its an elec/fire blaster. im happy with the elec part, but i just dont have a clue what to take from /fire. hes currently 26, and already respecced once (oct 2005, my first respec, the result is... horrible). but i found out i got another /respec, so i plan to reach 27 then respec this guy so hes playable again.
what i want to keep for sure is build up, but i really dont know what else to take from the /fire set. any tips/opinions?
i wanna stay ranged, so i dont want any melee attacks. immob seems pretty useless in most situations for me.
please help me a bit..
