Ice Slick question

So I've had this one for 6 levels now, absolutely love it!

However, it says clearly that it does knockdown. Then why does it do knockback on some minions. If they can't stand the ice they'll just fall on it harder or never get back up.

So how come?

It does knockback if the enemies are vulnerable to knockback or many levels below you. Apparently knockdown is a low magnitude knockback.

Yes well it isn't appreciated as knockback knocks them of the ice slick. Maybe I should bug it? Or is it working as intended?

WAI, I think. I've seen dev responses about it, it's one of those frequently asked questions. It's a bit of a pain but not too bad since there aren't that many knockback vulnerable mobs. Lower levels I can handle without, although it would be handy to stop them from scattering.

From a US boards post;

"Ice Patch: Location/PBAoE Mag4 KnockDown. Mobs < 4 Levels you will suffer a Knockback effect from the center of the Ice Patch. Mobs > 2 Levels above you begin to suffer only a Slow affect and will occasionally be Knocked Down."

I'm guessing "below" is missing before "you will suffer...".

It were even level Clockwork on the Synapse TF, granted that gears may have a low resistance, but still a Cog should have some resistance no?

Probably... I've experienced it from the other side: against higher level mobs, the Knockback of Bonfire becomes Knockdown .

Clockwork have lower knockback protection than normal foes, it's by design.

I guess they are supposed to be small and light.

I really should do something about this signature.

True.

iirc clocks is the only mobgroup who has this low knockback protection and thus you wont have an issue with other groups.

Nemesis jaegers on the other hand have a high resistance to knockback/down so iceslick will be useless against these. (just another reason for trollers to avoid those pesky Nems )

Since this thread seems to be turning into a knockback resistance discussion, does anyone know what the deal with Crey Power Tanks is? Soaring Dragon from Katana seems to always knock them back, when it's only supposed to knock up.

Oh and G, back to our teaming the other day, Gravity's group immob (Crushing Field) doesn't have a -knockdown component (unlike Fire or Stone Cages), so it shouldn't interfere with your Ice Slick. I might be skipping it on my controller, but just in case you're teaming with someone who has it .

to me it always happens that i have to tell fire trollers they should go easy with fire cages if i use earthquake + freezing rain on a mob

...then again that storm defenders the decides he should debuff their acc with hurricane by standing in the middle of em deserves a good slap as well

"god, how many devs did hami have to sleep with to get ED?"

Or anyone with gale or torrent deserve a slap, in warning, before they use it on your slick, to warn of whats to come.

Slick also wakes up sleeping foes, and can draw feared ones onto the attack. So careful around mind.
