Dou with Energy/Energy Blaster
I'd suggest an illusion controller may suit you and your situation. Energy blasters have a lot of knockback going on - immobilisation and sleep powers don't tend to work so well with these, and illusion doesn't really bother with either.
You will have a single target hold, an early point blank group hold, confusion (fantastic power), a nice high damage power for getting more involved in damage dealing, superior and/or group invisibility, an early pet - phantom army, which will help keep aggro off you and your blaster friend and commit a little damage, and then finally a fear-inducing pet followed by your main pet, the phantasm.
As a secondary, I would perhaps suggest kinetics, especially if your blaster friend is going to be utilising the attacks from his secondary (referred to as 'blapping'). You would have a very powerful group heal that centres on a targetted enemy, a damage buff (and foe debuff), a self speed/recharge buff (and foe debuff), increase density (giving your blaster friend mez protection to all except sleep powers), speed boost (one of the most popular buff powers in the game, essentially perma-hasten and stamina in one power!), transference (works similar to the heal, you'll never want for endurance again after you have this power) and finally fulcrum shift, again very nice if your friend gets into blapping, although it works best in large groups rather than duos.
Illusion/kinetics would provide for a very active playstyle.
There are plenty of other combinations that would probably work well with an en/en blaster, but this seems like a good choice based on what you said in your post.

If you're concerned about knockback, Gravity's holds stop held mobs being knocked back.
Yup. Grav would be good I think, hold em up with grav distortion and let your mate blap away without having to chase after his targets. Course, if he was also a controller he'd be doing double damage... but nevermind You can also handle the knockback side if the blapper is getting too much flack via propel which is just too much fun to ignore.
Maybe a forcefield secondary to help look after your squishy frontliner?
Not going by what would make the most "uber" pairing, but I've always enjoy taking my En/En Blapper out on patrol with my gf's Ill/Rad - Phantom Army are great for grabbing and holding aggro when used properly, AM is great for pumping out that extra damage, and the rest of the Rad secondary makes up for the lack of real control in Illusion.

Thank you for the great suggestions. I think I will try te Illusion/Radiation route for now. See how that goes then try kinetics. Cheers!

Yeah Illusion / Rad sounds like the best combo for an energy blaster. You the Phantom Army tank to open up with and grab attention, lots of horrible debuffs with Rad so they can't hit you and you hit them harder, Group Invis to give you both a little extra survivability, an AOE heal and AM for those early game stamina blues.
I've spent a fair amount of time with my ill/rad protecting squishy blasters. Works well!
CoX 50s: <ill/rad> <ice/ice> <fire/kin> <grav/sonic> <ice/storm> <earth/kin> <kin/elec> <cold/psy> <thugs/dark> <fire/dark> <dark/elec> <night widow> <EM/ninj> <mind/icy>
ill/ff also works for protecting squishies as I've noticed
Though I would think that grav would be a good combo as well, especially once you get your pet that just keeps smashing enemies all around the place keeping them out of the fight
"god, how many devs did hami have to sleep with to get ED?"

Illusion/Radiation is working really well for us. Easily taking out gangs of 10+.
Don't have a Kinetics Secondary if you want to duo with an Energy/* Blaster, trust me it will drive you mad.

Strange thing, I would think mind/kin is prolly the best duoing partner.

Knockback is a bit annoying with the Kinetics heal.
Blasters & Kinetics don't really go too well since the heal is centered around the mob. Unless they're Blappers of course.

And how would you make a great nrg / nrg blaster without taking energy punch, bonesmasher and total focus and thus becomming a blapper. Blasters cant get enough damage any more just from their primary.
Believe me kin would prolly be the best secondary. Given that your duoing I would say mind / kin is the best build you can make.

Im about to start duoing with a new energy/energy blaster and id like to do it as a controller but im unsure which power sets I should go for as ive been out of the game for quite some time.
As expert controllers which power sets do you think would compliment the blaster? Oh, im not big into healing
Cheers in advance
