Sirens Call - why add buff/debuff missions?
The buff/debuff missions in the PvP zones were a great idea. Unfortunately one of those ideas that just doesnt work when implemented.
I come in to take advantage of the nice Xp...and then go hit some villains
Although honestly though, I had problems with my arcs on Ice, and I couldn't be bothered to go through two whole arcs with -5's in them, so I've been doing some PvP missions in between the boring -5 missions.

Maybe they want to entice us into PvP in the hope we'll fall in love with it.
Come for drops, stay for the ganking™! That sort of thing.
It strikes me as dumb to upset the people who actually do like PvP to entice PvE people into the zones, but I suppose that might not be the reason for the de/buffing at all.
We all know the devs arn't going to take this feature out but would it be too much to ask to just show us the buffs/debuffs like any others in the game? Atleast then we can take the appropriate measures to counter them, i.e. buy inspirations, get buffs from someone etc.

um...they are on your status effects bar (under the hp/end/xp bars)
Then mine must be bugged. I've been told many times by my team that so and so had just done a mission and we got some buff. But whenever i look up there it doesn't show. *sigh*
I'll just bug it.

I dont think thats what he mean, yeah it shows if you are enfeebled and so on but it doesnt give you any figures behind it, I.E. you now do 7% less damage and so on so you can try to factor in an alternative or group.

Stalk has it in 1. What i was trying to say was, i know you can see the Enfeebled and Galvanised buff/debuff at the top. But i want to see it as you would any other buff/debuff. Take Caltraps for example. When you get hit by it multiple times, you see the debuff at the top multipul times, as many times as you've been hit by it. Thats exactly how i want to see the mission buff/debuffs at the top of my screen. So i know how many times i've been hit by it, and more importantly, what the percentage is.
@SinghMC
But that's not how these buffs work. There is a single buff/debuff, which has a variable value according to what missions are run. At least I assume that's the case, as it's how it works in Warburg.
Doesn't Siren's Call get the little messages telling you that "Dumb Hero has completed a mission and the villains now have a 10% damage debuff". That's what you get in Warburg.
To the OP: Basically what you seem to be saying is that the PvP zones are for regular PvPers, and everyone else can just get lost, because we mess up your calculations. Is that correct?

But no status effects show the numbers. If someone puts, say, Radiation Infection on me...I have no idea how badly I'm being debuffed...it depends on the players slotting.
That said, heroes are never too debuffed in Sirens

No
What Im saying is the developers intention is likely to ahve the opposit effect, I.E. making people who do like PVP leave as their build is unduely altered by people who do not enter into the purpose of the zone (PVP) I have no problem with people exploiting the higher XP missions but I fail to see how people with no interest in PVP should be able to fundamentally effect those who do.

Okay... so you're saying that all the buff/debuff missions in Sirens and Warburg scare off the PvPers because the people running the missions are affecting how their damage/accuracy works?
I want to understand this. I've pretty much out-levelled Warburg now, so I don't go there much. When I do, it's pretty empty. Sirens I've been to a couple of times recently, and found it largely unpopulated, though better than Warburg.
I haven't been attacked in Warburg in ages. I did get hit by a Stalker (it's so interesting that Stalkers are always the most wanted when I go in there) last time I was in Siren's. Hardly surprising, he was camping the street outside the hero base, but wasn't using Hide very effectively. I'm sure I looked like a nice target, I just wasn't that easy to kill.
So have all the PvPers been scared off by the PvE missions?
Or was it actually not a very popular addition in the first place?

Obviously (to me, anyway), if PvE content has been added to the PvP zones, then that's part of their intended purpose, not just PvP.
The argument that "non-PvPers are ruining the PvP game" is just as bad as the "I'm being forced to do PvP" argument. If a message comes up saying that your side's abilities have been dropped by a mission done by someone from the opposing side, why not do one of the missions to make up the difference? They take about ten minutes or so, and you get a lot of XP for them, what's the problem?
And in reponse to Ravenswing, I'd have to agree. I've spent some time in the PvP zones and even at peak playing times, they're fairly quiet. I see more people at the GG roleplaying meetings on Union, in all honesty.

Sounds easy doesn't it? Except the fact that generally most of the people who come into the PvP zones, especially Sirens, have long outleveled the content of the zones, and like me, there playing with there level 50's so we cant actually access the missions. Speaking from the hero side of course.
@SinghMC
The little icon thingy telling you that you are suffering from an area buff/de-buff does seem a bit hit and miss.
Hell for a good few weeks it was telling my I was buffing and debuffing when it blatantly wasnt.
One question.
Are te buffs and debuffs cumulaitive?
Or is my evil plan to do 100 missions of each type in one sitting to totaly nerf the enemy doomed to failure???
I dont mind the missions, but what annoys me are the "dont attack me I'm just doing missions,im not here to pvp" villains (and probably hereos too).
Sure I am nice and leave them alone(that is till they attack another hero..then they are fair game), but lets be honest here, would they do the same?

Don't know about the other zones, but in Union's Warburg they almost certainly would. Most of the people there doing missions are there to farm the fast, high xp missions, not for PvP. (Then again, not so many people seem to PvP there anymore.)

Y'know what makes the debuff missions worse? The fact that devs can't [censored] get them right! The 'buff hero damage' mission actually debuffs it...way to go there devs...
I know! I was happily doing the buff damage mission with my alt when i got a tell from a villan saying that i was actually debuffing the damage. First i thought he was joking but soon realised he wasn't since everyone started saying it. Imo this is a game breaking bug, from the hero side of course. You villains can laugh it up!
@SinghMC
I beleive it may just be poor phrasing as opposed to working incorrecly. For example if SinghMC has just done a mission and it says "SinghMC has completed a mission heroes now do 7% less damage" it may be working backwards, I.E. that before he did his mission it may have been 9% and it is now stating the total buff/debuff thats in play.
Of course the devs may just have screwed up again

Yeah, I know that happens in Warburg.
You have to remember that there are four missions:
Buff your damage.
Buff your resistance (I think, doesn't matter).
Debuff opponent damage.
Debuff opponent resistance.
This works on both sides.
If I'm doing a lot of Buff own Damage missions, but someone on the villains side did a load of Debuff opponent Damage missions earlier, what I'm actually doing is reducing the amount of debuff the other guy caused. I'd have to do more missions than him before the heroes started to have an actual Damage Buff.
The way you can tell is from the icon. If I do a buff damage mission, and the text says heroes are now doing 10% less damage, does the damage icon say buff or debuff. In Warburg it says debuff, which would be correct. (In Warburg, typically, heroes buff their resistance and villains debuff heroes damage. Go figure.)

Could the new year be any worse?
And don't even ask what I had to go through on new years, I wish today that I had gone out and gotten completely smashed, woulda been better.
*cry's in the corner*
Um... right.
I still don't get why it's such an issue. Sorry.

Seriously I want to know why the devs have added this in, I assume it is to draw people into the zones and mission but as there is about a 10% xp increase and better drops on missions in pvp zones I see no need for it.
As far as I see now we just get people coming into the pvp zones to get the extra XP without indulging in PVP and messing with the PVP dyanamics for the whole zone. We cant even see the figures to know what kind of extent our characters have been altered to.
This really bugs me on both sides (hero/villain) as I dont want any more of an advatage/disadvantage than my own devised build gives me, the damn devs mess with our builds all the time in the name of "balancing" so why give people who dont pvp the opportunity to interfer?
Some of you may know I used to haunt sirens call and swap alts to help with the balance and loved PVP but having my characters getting unknown nerfs is not pleasing and I really do feel like stopping pvp altogether (cue cheers)
