At midnight on New Year's Eve...

Well, technically, the whole of reality pauses for a tick, and then it's different. However, since you wouldn't remember it being different, you wouldn't know it was... um, so technically there would be no visual queue.

Those with supernatural senses would notice a 'blip', but as Max pointed out, there will probably be a number of those around that time; Paragon City is good for blips.

Those with some connection to Time would also notice a blip as everything pauses for a microsecond. (Might have more to say about that later.)

Question for Wordmaker -

Ok, so if Stargazer's dad never existed, then Nevermore never declared a personal war on him, so United never left because he didn't want to get involved in somebody else's war?

Now, you see, that changes a lot of things...

Crisis on Infinite Alts.

Some of you younger people may not remember how, for years after the original Crisis, we didn't even know how Wonder Girl related to Wonder Woman...that was a major continuity question we didn't get resolved for *YEARS*.

It's all up to you guys to make up your own new continuities. I guess my point is you can let things dangle and backfill stuff later on...it's silly to stress about some things being left unclear when the biggest comic book publisher itself left stuff unclear for years to come.

Just use a status quo you're comfortable with, and how things got to that point can always be glossed over.

Actually, the change in Nevermore's outward face does present some interesting issues. have to think about that one, Wordy.

Mind you, what Sammy said is true, but if there are continuity issues, please come to us for help if you feel you need it. Some people already have.

Also, I'd like to apologise again for striking the wrong tone with the initial post. This was not meant to be a done deal. My reason for posting originally was to get people to discuss it and point up problems, especially 'no gos'. I probably didn't make that clear enough. Sorry.

Stargazer's dad did exist (I'm assuming), but the Salmarien plot didn't happen. I didn't actually know that was the reason for United leaving, I thought it was to do with his own personal things going on.

Besides, it was hardly a "personal war".

Yeah...I'll make a post tomorrow with an overview of the changes I want to make to Nevermore. If anyone has any problems with it, they can let me know.

About Nevermore.
Grav respects him, and overall thought a bit neutral about him, untill he had a chat with Jester where she was pressent. (after the Minako debacle, threats were made, and such)
From then on, she didn't really like him.

Is that one of the events being affected?

Or should I have stuck this in a PM?

The Grav Mistress, Mistress of Gravity

If you have nothing useful to say, you have two choices: Say something useless or stay quiet.

I think you people need to think more about what YOU want to happen. Otherwise people are just gonna pull a whole "Oh Raven and Word FORCED this to happen on us" and somebody's gonna pull that card on them sooner or later.

It has to be everybody's own choice how this affects anything. If you prefer being on good terms with Nevermore, figure out how those events went down instead (and ask for help if you need). If you prefer disliking him, figure out how those events were unchanged (and ask for help if you need).

So instead of:

"Did this happen or not?"

ask:

"I want this end result. Do we need to assume anything specific in order for it to occur?"

If everybody makes their own desires clear, then there is no weight on the retconners' shoulders. But if everybody just humors them and pretends to play along for now, but inside is offended -- that bitterness will grow and erupt sooner or later.

So do what YOU want and ask how to get there. Do not ask to be TOLD what to do.

-deleted as it was really not the right thing to say. It's early and I have been without my coffee for days :s-

Exactly, Samy, thank you! That's a very important thing about this whole retcon. We're not doing it to enforce anything or to act like everyone has to obey us (they already do anyway ). We just made a large number of choices about our characters which have left them pretty much unplayable as regards roleplaying, and we want to correct that.

The best way to look at a lot of situations and occurences in the past and how they may have changed is to think about how much of it was in the control of one of these three. The Minako incident was very much external to the lives of Nevermore, Stargazer, and War Crow, odds are Nevermore would have reacted in exactly the same way.

As Samy said, what's really the best thing to do is decide what status you want your characters to have with Nevermore, War Crow, and Stargazer, and then work with us to see how that can be achieved.

As I said, today I'll be writing up a summary of the changes I'm making to Nevermore who will, out of the three, be the character most changed in terms of how he behaves and what is known about him.

I would like to say, though, that we really do appreciate the fact that people are supporting us in doing this retcon.

Okay, I get the feeling Aisla and myself have read Samy's post differently.

I read it as a bit of advice encouraging people to work -with- us as regards the effects of the retcon, and not as a warning to not let "Raven and Wordy" get away with forcing people into something. I hope I wasn't wrong in this.

Personally guys, I think it's a damned GOOD idea, it'll get those toons of yours out of OOC mode and back where they belong!

Hell... I'm even taking the opportunity to try fix Ellie, though I'm not doing it with the retcon

Aisla wasn't actually replying directly to Samy, Wordy, and she's deleted it now anyway since her short time and blood-addled brain* made for a non-useful post.

*Most people have drink or coffee-addled brains, but for the true caffeine addict, the problem is having too much blood pumping up there.

No, she did clarify to me that the reply was a general one, not to Samy.

And FFM, I assume by "fix" you mean "oook"?

Sorry? What was that FFM?
