I Hate My MasterMind

im starting to regret choosing a mastermind as my main charicter, it was fun from level 1 to 15 but now iv hit 20 its just ugg

going into mish's i have to get them out, equip them then start, basicly annoying and PvP is impossible.

im thinking of starting a brand new charicter, with everything the same except the arcatecture (and origin), mebbies a Dominator.

You think its worth is now and if i did, would PowerLeveling to 20 then going normal again be cheating?

Powerlevel all you want

But I disagree with you on the issue that MM's "suck" after level 20... if anything they keep getting more and more powerful... Depends on your build I guess... but if you think it's annoying having to summon and equip every time, then OF COURSE MM isn't for you!! It's logic...

Having to summon, set up and enhance is a part of the process... and I for one love it...

MM's is all about tactics, if you don't have the ability to play one, go play a Dominator...or Corruptor....

((Not a flame, just a general statement))

Just hit 26 with my MM and I'm loving it! (Lich pet is AMAZING)

Am getting thoroughly addicted to my MM and eager to get my ultimate Pet (seen the giant robots? *drool*)

It *does* get trickier between 18 and 26 - because although you get more pets, they're less effective killing machines individually and need a bit more love, attention, and pampering with the finest Acc enhancements money can buy.

You also start getting:
- the start of mission ambushes (which means you've got to get your pets up immediately and buff them in-combat).
- the choice between having great powers and the END to use them (ye olde Stamina question rears its ugly head again)
- Scrapyarders (arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggghhhhh)

...but it really is worth carrying on. Every AT has a few levels that suck, and after 26 MMs become hideously powerful again

Is it time for the dance of joy yet?

I went stupid and deleted my lvl 22 MM because I was bored with it and nowhere found a group. I started a stalker wich I love to play as well, but missing my pets was one of the reasons I recreated a MM :P

Once you get a character above level 10 it's usually a good idea to keep them and use another character slot... you never know when you might want to come back to them :3

I have a lvl 19 MM and got fed up with summoning and setting up my pets at the start of every mission.

Decided to start a rad/rad corruptor, and love it.

But im not a real altoholic and will not delect my MM.

In fact once my corruptor is high enough i moght go bak and solo a bit with my MM.

If anything its more of a drag getting up to 20, from 20-25 was ok but tough. When you start to outlevel your SO's at 21 and 26 then again at 31 and 36 it gets tougher. But once you get your assualt bot at 26 the fun realy begins and as for the final upgrade at 32 they just turn into uber killing machines eating red boss's for breaky. You get your summoning and buffing down to a fine art after awhile timing it to the last second and I only fully buff the assualt and protector bots before starting a map then buff the little guys on the fly, saves a little time.

I created a Corruptor and its much more fun than my MasterMind. Its at level 9 allready and i can 'sorta' heal, so when i get it to about 20, say goodbye mastermind

Yeah, Masterminds aren't for everyone. ^^

I'm about to hit level 12, and I can already see how I might not have the patience to buff, heal....etc, my minions at the higher levels. I've rolled a Sonic/Sonic Corrupter, and she seems to be pretty fun so far.

I'll be sticking with the Mastermind until I can see the Protector Bot in action, though.

Wait untill you have the full set of bots running, it can become a bit annoying (3 mini-bots, 2 protectors and the assault bot). Not to mention the ammount of endurance u need to get them all "ready".

I'm a Nec/DM and I have played most AT's in CoH and some of the new ones from CoV, I prefer my MM to all the others (Scrapper very close second though ), so much so, that I never play CoH, I just love playing my MM, So i guess it's a case of "different strokes for different folks".

To be honest I'd be happy with just 2 or maybe 3 pets... 6 seems a tad overkill XD

So just summon your top tiers.

It would be cool if one could decide how many of each tier they could summon. A tier 1 pet would gain 2 threat levels if he was cast alone just as at start. You would lose out on damage overall but each pet in itself could gain some strength.

Why not jsut summon them all and then dismiss the individual ones u don't want?

Or.....Go for overkill

I usually let a pet die and summon it's spirit, so then I have :

1 X Lich
2 X Grave Knights
1 X Spirit
3 X Zombies

AFAIK, dismissing a pet doesn't boost the level of the remaining pets.

I do that sometimes, however once I get my dark servant from the miasma tree I will have a total of 8 pets following me around

i think the trick is to put the highest end reduction enhancement you can afford as the first step. my end goes to about half from the first summon to the final buff so far but i don't really need maximum end anyway.

masterminds are designed to be played with your own personal safety in mind, not as a melee character. you let the pets go into battle and you stand on the sidelines looking pretty. or you play like me and stand in the middle of them casting heal as required. dark miasma is fantastic for masterminds as you can usually keep your pets alive for most if not all of the combat.

if your pets start dying then run like the soft squishy that you really are. pets will keep the mobs occupied until you are well out of the way. as soon as your last pet falls, then re-summon them.

the only reason masterminds have attacks is as a final solution if the pets are all dead and we might possibly die. if you look at the damage, it is a lot lower than the pets can do. masterminds are even more squishy than blasters so if you feel the need to get up close and personal then you are playing the wrong character. personally I cannot play scrappers and tanks to save my life, i don't have the disposition. i prefer to be able to stand back and suss out a situation first. at the first sign of it going horribly wrong i'm out of there like a gazelle.

I love my level 20 mastermind. I'm a one man group and an awesome addition to any other group. Using DM i can keep them all healed and i can't wait to get my Lich. The Grave Knight and making ghosts from the fallen pets rock. Although tourtured spirits can be a pain to control its awesome when i get wiped out and its the only thing left and i can use it to own the remaining mobs and work off my debt before going to the hospital/reviving.

Just started a brute tho, and thats fun, but im only playing that whilst my friends who were a little late getting the game level up. As soon as they hit level 20 im back on my mastermind. Providing i get my missions debugged :P

6 henchmen & setupping them shouldn't take all your end, not even close, if it takes alot of end something is wrong. I can manage at 80% endurance, but you have to group the setup / summon process (use SOs on equip skill). Like: starting with battle drones / equip, summon protector bots / equip them while they bubble, assault bot. Now just wait for bubbles

Sure if you summon all the henchmen at once and start equipping fast it takes every drop of your endurance.

Anyway, playing a mastermind has it's moments including the bad ones. When i started my character 10 first levels were fun, next after protector bot i felt unstobbable and even more fun, at 18 i think things were at "cool" for so long. But at 26 things jumped at the "awesome" level again ;P.
And after i reach my goal.. maybe smily faces say it the best

Hehe.. just levelled to 26 and now have my assault bot. I can't call her War Witch for some reason, but she definitely rocks... and yes, can't wait till 32 either :P

BTW, levels 24 and 25 will be horrible for you. Not only are your two white-con Prot Bots not quite effective as your one yellow-con one(aside from the fact they can heal and bubble each other) but your enhances probably aren't fully slotted due to lack of funds and...

forget all that.

The first time you see your mighty metal mountain scream down out of the sky, you'll smile. When you see it overhead smash one pesky Longbow into the ground and then double plasma blast another into next week before lightly flamegrilling the survivors, it's worth it

Well I just started Masterminding and found that 1-5 I was really weak and my Merc was poo.

I was almost ready to give up and then I hit lvl 6 and suddenly my mercs were great, now I had 2 and they can do decent damage.

I was also suprised how good force bolt is as a power.
