  1. Yeah I can see how effective that would be, I was in a team last night, taking the advice above, we arrived in a "Boss Chamber", there were about 5 Red Con mobs and I cast the DS into the middle of them, sent in the Zoms/Brutes etc and there were no deaths and nearly continuous heals going on, Yep DS was really worth waiting for

    Thanks

One of the best ways to use them is to actually summon them in the middle of a group of enemies. This means everything is in range of Chill of the Night (which is a very good debuff), and increases the chance of fluffy getting slightly damaged, which is good, because he only uses Twilight Grasp when he is hurt.

Now that is cool!!! Never woulda thunk of that
    Thanks
  3. Cool, thanks for that

I should have 4 slots to fill for him tonight, I have his first on fast recharge, any suggestions on the other three, the recharge leaves me with a 3 min gap after his demise, before I can resummon, so I can live with that. Is accuracy/damage of any use, or should I fill with the TH Debuffs?

    Thanks again
  4. OK thanks for that, I figured it was a bit like that,....sorta defeats the purpose of being a MM though?
  5. Anyone know what the DS actually does?

I got mine tonight and not too sure how to use or slot it.

When I send my other pets in to attack, they seek mobs pretty aggressivly, but the DS seems to stand beside me all the time, does he need a certain proximity to mobs before he attacks automaticaly or something?

He seems to have a group heal spell, but tbh only uses it sporadically and probably when not even needed, should I have chosen a different skill instead or am I misunderstanding the skill Dark Servant, and not appreciating how UBER DS really is? :P

    Any advice welcome
  6. Thanks for the offer Symposium, I'm on Defiant though

I was on a mission with 7 Stalkers the other night and it was pretty amazing

Thanks for the tips on PvP, my reason for the Stalker was precicely for taking part in PvP while waiting for the level cap to be raised to 50 for my MM (which IMO, isn't a very effective PvP build).

I'll check out Resilliance tonight as I should be 14 shortly and I can get it then

    Thanks again all
  7. A big thank you to all who contributed advice

I put into practice all suggestions, last night, and simply tore through missions, no shortcuts or anything

I learned alot about mob placement/patterns that I never noticed before and how to use these to my advantage.

I was unfortunate enough not to get a team last night and if I hadn't had the advice given above, i think I ould have found it pretty frustrating.

Taking out an Orange and two Yellows, or three Yellows, (grouped in close proxinity), in seconds, made for a very satisfying series of missions.

    Thanks again

I agree with the sense of tension in thief, and it would be great if we had that here. Only way to add it would be to give some chance of being caught out while hiding. .

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah its coming in I7....honest :P

Yeah sometimes when I'm doing my MM Schtick, I try to TP folks out of danger, do it to late you get a corpse (that you can rez in relative safety i might add ), do it too early and you get a "...." or a "erm...." now I just let them die, Life is tough deal with it
  9. Yeah played 1 II and III, also Rogue in BG 1 and 2 and Planescape

This is my problem though, I find it all very time consuming, In Thief there was a palpable sense of tension, risk vs. reward, in CoV, it manifests it self as a "bit of a pain in the bum"

Regarding teams, last night I was told to Assist the Brute....W TF? Prior to this I was killing the yellow orange and red mobs that were waiting ahead of the team using hit - run - hide techniques which is waht I figure I should be doing...
  10. Any advice?

I have become used to steam-rollering through missions with my MM, no faced with soloing my Stalker, I'm finding it a bit awkward.

I am level 12 EM/Ninjitsu, I find it a bit of a chore, kill a few mobs, run away, hide for a minute for aggro to die down, then rinse/repeat.

When I go into a mission, I tend to go straight for the "glowie"/boss, whack'em and then kill a few mobs in that area and exit the mission.

Now I could kill all the mobs and progress naturally through the mission, but my problem lies in the Kidnap/Escort missions, I dont think I could handle an ambush, with any more than 4/5 mobs at a time, or I will get swamped.

Is there any technique I am missing that I could use in these situations, I have Placate, but that only works on one mob for about 10 seconds, just about gives me time to take out 2 others, before they get back into the action.

When in a teamed mission, people seem to think a Stalker is like a Scrapper and expect you to stay and go toe-to-toe with a lot of mobs in aggro mode, so I try not to let them down in these situations, but get face plant syndrome more often than I would like.

Maybe it's because i am more used to playing my Scrapper and am not approaching this AT (Stalker), correctly, but any advice on any of the stuff above would be appreciated.

    Thanks
  11. OK, I tried Spines/Regen and EM/Ninj and brought them both to level 8, from both an aestethic point of view and DMG, I find the EM/Ninj, more suited to my playstyle. For some reason the Spine animations reminded me of a Claws Scrapper Lots of animation for little damage (just the way it looked to me when compared to EM).

BTW, can my glowy hands be seen in PvP?

I teamed with mostly Stalkers last night and we tore through missions, whereas the night before I teamed with standard team mixes and missions were very slow and time consuming in comparision.

We just entered a map, all took off in different directions, (it was weird looking at the map and see all these green arrows scattered around it, moving quickly ).At the end we found the boss, surrounded him and killed him in a second . I dont mean we just went for the boss, we anihillated everything on the way there

I probably have a gimp mix (I dont know, but if I have please let me know , as in CoH I have a MA/DA Scrapper LOL ).

Thanks for the input so far
  12. I want to do a Stalker character for PvP to keep me going until I7 and the raising of the level cap.

Ideally I would like it to be an un-armed combat type, therefore Broadsword, Spines etc. are out of the equation.

Can somebody give an example of the best "mix" for this type of character and maybe some tips as the nearest I have played to Stalker is a Scrapper (MA/DA, very end. Heavy), but I think both types play very differently.

    Thanks
  13. Or.....Go for overkill

I usually let a pet die and summon it's spirit, so then I have :

    1 X Lich
    2 X Grave Knights
    1 X Spirit
    3 X Zombies
  14. I'm a Nec/DM and I have played most AT's in CoH and some of the new ones from CoV, I prefer my MM to all the others (Scrapper very close second though ), so much so, that I never play CoH, I just love playing my MM, So i guess it's a case of "different strokes for different folks".
  15. LOL!!!! Well, I guess I can wait to see him then

    10/10 for the descriptions
  16. Just got my Lich last night, he looks awesome! I have a query please

When do I get Dark Servant, cant wait to see that guy

    Thanks
  17. Coupla questions based on what Dreamweaver says:

    1. What happens when we hit 40? Do we stop getting XP and therefore new skills? Surely this would negate the point of playing, I can understand the CoH version, when you hit 50, you get access to the Kheldians, but that in itself is an attraction to "roll" a new character, but to hit 40 in CoV and then just have to take a standard AT and level them up wouldn't be attractive at all.

    2. Is there any proposed date of release for post level 40 support, although I'm only level 24, I would like to have something waiting for me when i eventually reach 40+.

    MM vs PvP

Thanks for all that, Especially Lancer for restoring my faith in my character for PvP, I reckon I just need a couple of more levels and then I will be able to put all those tactics into my anti-Hero repetoir.

    Thanks again

    MM vs PvP

I dont have either of those powers and I dont think they are available to me.

I have Necromancy and Dark Miasma, can you recommend anything to me from knowing this?

    MM vs PvP

Is there a way to make MM's more effective in PvP, as my impression is that the enemies just target the Necromancer and once the nec is dead, the pets are dead too.

I suppose cast the pets and fly away to a safe distance, but then again, if the enemies are airborne, then the pets are pretty ineffective anyway.

    Any suggestions?

I'm a 23 Necromancer (getting my Lich tonight, cant wait for that )
  21. I haven't played CoH since I created my necromancer
  22. It's going to be interesting with the PvP in this game.

In Lineage (which is very much a PvP game), it attracted a lot of gankers, They would attack you while you were engaged with a mob, or a level 20 would attack a newbie for kicks. I hated it at the start, but when I got to about level 20, I could make a stab at fighting back, I started to enjoy it. When I got some characters to level 50+, I got devious, I could Macro two sets of armour, walk around in newbie armour, wait for a ganker to attack me and switch armour/weaps and kill the bugger . Also, when I was levelling a low alt, I would station a main nearby and if I got ganked, retribution would swiflty follow

I'm waiting to see if a SG takes it upon themselves to "police" their server. In another game I played, they decided to merge the USA and English servers and alot of the USA players said they would come over and PWN any players in the PvP zones (which is where the best crafting mats were harvested). So our guild would TP into a PvP zone and protect any harvesters from griefers. I dont know what it's like there now, but at the time it was pretty successful and made people think twice before ganking an innocent PvE'r
