Since other AT's started it...
Hey lamech its dawnthief here from the 'arachnos avengers' VG.
You wanna join our new VG when it gets created?
If I can be bothered to create a villain when my pack arrives, she will be a Stalker, even if I do think the entire AT is gimped beyond belief.

I had great fun in the lower levels playing a stalker. It's a strange AT that only really works if you play really tactically. The amount of difference taking out lieutenants can make in the low levels is pretty significant.
@Unthing ... Mostly on Union.
They make lousy team additions:
* Too much chance of the team aggroing your target away and destroying your chance of AS working.
* Since the mob groups are larger, far more chance you'll get planted by the retaliation after you assassinate that Lt.
They make lousy solo ATs:
* Not enough hit points or DPS to survive after an assassination.
* Only way to get around this is to do everything one mob at a time = slow progression.
* VERY vulnerable to ambushes which see through Hide.
I can see why you'd have fun with a Stalker in the lower levels... no debt.
Stalkers are PvP ATs, and Cryptic plan to nerf that anyway.

*If you've started your AS and then your victim is agro'd away the AS still connects even though your target has moved.
*Don't have that much of a problem getting agro after taking the Lt or boss, I don't make the very first strike for the team and do try to play in good teams which manage agro well.
I think I make a decent team addition since i can take out quite a few minions one-shotted assuming my team can manage aggro and I can 're-hise' and placate.
Solo
Yes it's slow going and hard work.
However,
YOu can stealth many missions very easily just take out the boss and his mates or whatever (very useful for those newspaper missions which are just a stepping stone to a decent contact)
Ambushes don't always see through hide if you move in my experience. The only time I found this not to be the case was bank missions. Which granted can be hard going.
I can take on a minimum of 3 minions at a time, first AS, second beat to a pulp, third placate and AS number 2.
Plus it is more of a hit-and run AT so superspeed can be a godsend when things get hairy (ie AS misses and you've got a full health boss and all his mates staring at you)
It is slower going solo than other ATs xp wise, but I find other benefits. I enjoy it and don't think it's as gimped as some people seem to.
Having not played a Stalker can't comment on the exact game mechanics but I would I wouldn't take this AT simply becuase its slow to solo.
Try soloing a controller - hold, punch, hold, punch, hold, punch and repeat. Things are easier with extra damage of I5 but its still handy to team a blaster or scarpper who can really dish the damage and appreciate a held opponent
Dont think stalkers are that weak solo or in a team. In a team multiple stalkers may work better than multiple brutes as it would let you remove several enemies from a fight fast, but several brutes means the agro is spread out so harder to build up fury.
Stalkers damage and defense arent so far behind a scrapper that they cant handle themselves solo. Assuming the base difficulty level you should be able to handle the spawns by simply assassinating the biggest threat then killing the other couple of bodies lying around. Only problem is if you dont have room to maneuver or are doing the kidnap things where hiding is a problem. It may be slower than a brute, but still seemed faster than when I tried to solo a defender for a few missions, but I prefer to team in general anyway.

I found it okay in teams. In fact this was where i shined. I spent a lot of time running out of aggro range and rehiding, they work well with masterminds and brutes, whose minions get aggro back quite quickly.

Solo was slow, a defeat all mission is a complete chore. Taking out a minion with AS is easy. Taking out 2 is easy too, AS on one and melee the second. Lts are down in one attack cycle if AS hits. However when you start getting more than that it becomes difficult.
I got to level 10. I couldn't get debt, true, but I wasn't faceplanting as much as the others team members either. In fact in many team wipes I was the only one left, or ended up faceplanting 50 yards behind everyone as I tried to run but then couldn't resist ambushing them once hidden.

Yeah, someone who can one shot like three things in a row... that sucks for soloing.

Soo why create one if you think they are that bad?
I liked teh one I had on Beta, after being a defenderfor so long its nice to damage things. Funny how in teams I could do more damage then Corrupters yet you think they cant team, it seems all villain AT's have more ability to either team or solo now which can only be a good thing for all (teamers or solo'er)
But of course that is merely my observations and opinion.
Yeah, I think the Stalker is a very fine addition to a team. I've played with teh same guys as the only Stalker and as one of three in a 8 person team each time. Tactics and a touch of timing are all that is needed. Trust me, when you can OHK a slightly damaged boss that is giving your teamates aggro, you are appreciated.
The assasinated will join you'll as a stalker
