...Is stuff cheap or expensive during Double XP?

I can't figure out if,
A) Stuff is cheaper because more people are simply dumping off their drops;
B) Stuff is more expensive because more people are bidding; or
C) Some kind of confusing mixture...

But I'm kind of thinking stuff will be cheaper right after Double XP, right? I don't know if I should buy stuff cheap, and wait for the prices to "normalize" to sell it off, or buy stuff at regular price now to sell for high prices during Double XP...or can I do both?

yes

lol ... ok real answer. No one will know. Is AE going to get DXP? I don't think a redname has answered that question. Until then, it's all a guess.

People BUY IT NOW!!! On double xp weekend. They also will drop stuff especially recipes for cheap because they want their slots open for more drops. So if you want to make money on 2xp weekend, craft like crazy and list stuff and as it sells buy recipes and craft using stocked up on salvage. *starts dodging rocks* I'm just trying to help!!!

Its all going to depend on whether 2xp will work inside of the MA. If it does then stuff will go sky high more so than normal but mostly the tier 2 stuff because no one is going to bother with slotting lower level stuff.

From what I've seen... prices spike 1-3 days after 2XP weekend. During 2XP weekend itself it is pretty hectic and a bit unpredictable.

My personal strategy is to be bidding extremely low over the weekend and then ride the wave reselling the following week.

And of course I'll be killing things as fast as I possibly can when I'm online.

I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.

You are correct, it's both. It'll move in waves and certain items will be going up while others drop. I expect common IO's and all salvage to steadily RISE during 2xp weekend. I expect bronze recipes/IOs to flood and prices will bottom out temporarily.

Might be a good time to buy up cheap IO's that are normally expensive, and flip later. Some ones I'm considering:

Anything ending at 40 that's at all desirable, including Impervium Armor, Miracle, Decimation (Detonation? The one that's expensive), Efficacy Adaptor
Anything that's normally desirable, including KB's, Steadfast +Def Unique, Gaussians, Obliteration, Reactive Armor

This is all assuming people stay in AE for 2xp weekend. Apparently you don't get 2xp in AE, so I doubt that'll happen, but you never can overestimate the intelligence of the common player.

Assuming people are outside of AE, I'd say common salvage will bottom out again and it'd be a great time to pick up Alchemical Silver, Spell Ink, Circuit Boards, Scientific Theory, any commons that spike hard. Recipes will probably still drop in price from oversupply during 2xp.

After 2xp is over, trends will reverse like the undertow and salvage will skyrocket as people are trying to IO out their new toons. Crapping IO's will probably be extremely profitable just after 2xp.

Etc etc.

Mind4everburning [formerly KeepDistance] said that last 2XP, when he was doing the run to 1 billion inf, he expected the ridiculous salvage price spikes afterwards, but what he didn't expect was the salvage price crashes during.

There are steep mountains and huge valleys all weekend- I can guess as to when the times are, but if you set up your sell and buy orders beforehand, you don't really have to care when they happen.

People are gonna be running content like there's no tomorrow and they're gonna dump all their salvage cheap so they have room for more. Probably the same with recipes.

yep looking at prices takes time away from getting xp keep that in mind.

So ... basically ... if there is a range in the price that something sells for, expect that spread to get bigger. Probably won't hurt to have some lowball bids to catch the dumpers and some higher offers for when the Buy It NAO! group exhaust the available supply.

Posted

That's my plan exactly hehe. I've been selling really... really well on a couple things I dabble in and am wondering if it's people buying in preperation for 2xp weekend.

I plan on spending my time doing lots and lots of killing things (for me, it's double inf weekend since I'm guessing MA missions won't be double XP, and I can get fast XP in the MA any other time anyways). However, crafting and storing common IOs before the weekend, and then unloading them afterwards, will be profitable. I'd place lowball bids on popular items now and see if you can't get a few lucky wins in.

Did you see this somewhere? I think it is still up in the air right now if AE will give out DXP or not... I was hoping that it did b/c I wanted to level up my fire/shield scrapper... and maybe some other ones too...

I thought I heard it mentioned that since Patrol XP doesn't work, 2xp won't work either...like they're on the same system.

Either way, if you wanna level up your scrapper in AE, you don't need 2xp weekend for that. Fire/Kin and Emp Def = soft capped farm destructor. Add in fillers to taste.

What is usually the trend for purples during 2XP? I've started purpling my two main characters, but I'm going to wait until (hopefully) the drop in price after I16 to do anything more than rely on drops. I've gotten a couple that I don't need that I'm hanging onto for the 2XP weekend. Is it usually better to sell these during or after it? And would the same apply to the other big ticket items, LotG, Miracle, etc...? I've got some merits that I might use for random rolls.

My guess is that purples and other high-end stuff isn't going to be much impacted. With purples especially, you need to be 50 to farm (supply side) or use (demand side) them so people leveling new characters aren't going to be affecting the market for them much.

Sell em all!!! Supply on them will be reduced if people are playing alts.... More money in the system because people that are playing their 50s are making double influence to buy Purples/Uniques/rubber chickens. I'm selling every damned thing I have in my recipe or enhancement slots to try and make as much as I can before the scaling of spawn sizes comes out in I16. I'm really hoping for a windfall of purples falling from the sky and my having enough influence to buy a bunch cheap before the Devs change their mind and nerf it somehow lol.

BUT, I'd also say more INF out there = higher prices ... If it were me I'd list them now for a high price and let them ride out for the duration. Hell you might be surprised to see them sell before DXP hits anyway!

This is the first double xp since AE has been introduced. AE has in essence dulled the thrill of double xp's of the past.

There will probably be more people online looking to see if it's worth it, but then realize that AE offers more and faster. So I think there will be a spike in recipes (Non-purples) that will sell cheaper. Crafted common IOs would be a good investment to look into.

Last night I saw some commons were at 500k or more so I cannot imagine how high they may go next week when the event actually starts.
