So you really want me to use it for...farms?

I'd just like to say that I heartily approve of the new "invalid arc" icon that an arc is supposed to get if it's invalidated by a patch.
I disapprove of the fact that not all invalidated arcs seem to get this icon. I have an arc with a generator in it, and I assume it's invalid now, but I had no idea about it until I read this thread. Mystifyingly, I had a completely different arc invalidated because the last patch somehow caused something somewhere to forget what I'd designated a glowie as, and that one got the icon.

EVERYTHING removed from the MA is either exploitable or causes major problems.

Except Prisoners... those have deliberately lowered rewards to compensate for their puny damage. Sure they're easy to kill, but they also give lousy XP. Never did figure out why they were pulled... I've certainly never heard of a Prisoner farm mission.

[ QUOTE ]
Players were using that fact to exploit the MA by using the generators to kill spawns, thusly earning them XP without much effort.
[/ QUOTE ]
And apparently it was easier to just remove them than to make it so that the damage done by the generator reduces the XP you'd get, like how it works with Allies and Escorts who deal damage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Actually, damage done by exploding objects does reduce XP. It counts as damage from a non-team source, just like another player shooting your target. If the explosion kills an undamaged mob, the player gets nothing... no XP, no chance for drops, no tickets. Go head to the Hollows and blow up a pile of explosives near some Trolls and compare the XP from them to just killing Trolls of that level... you'll see a huge difference.
I suspect what people were doing was spawning bosses as guards and hitting the spawn with AoEs. The explosion won't kill a boss, but it will knock a chunk out of their health bar... you get only partial XP but it's a much faster kill so I guess that balances out. Especially if you just want tickets... as long as you do some damage you get a chance at a ticket.
Hmm... maybe that's why they yanked Prisoners. The XP is lousy but the ticket drops would still be normal since Prisoners do drop recipes and salvage at the normal rate (I think). I guess if all you care about is tickets they'd be a good choice. But then, if you're going to farm, why not farm something like Freakshow that gives bonus XP (and therefore bonus inf) instead? At 50 the inf from mobs is very significant, and any decent farmer can mow down Freaks (or most other standard mobs) all day long...

It isn't that hard to understand. I really do think that the farmers/pl'r are pretty much complete jerks for not understanding that by now.

Please define "farming".

Not like he'll ever see it.. He has half the forum on ignore for being "exploiters".
I'm pretty sure Prisoners were (at least supposedly) removed due to some crazy double XP bug.

Last I checked (even after the first fix), instead of the lower rewards they're supposed to give, they were giving double what anything else gives. I'm guessing they were pulled because the fix didn't stick.
We'll always have Paragon.

I'm not sure where you got the idea that I'm trying to portray myself as 'special' in any way. I'm no different than anyone else...I was simply replying to the whole accusation that I wanted to make a rip off of copyrighted content. That's totally against the whole reason why I play this game. I want to make my own unique toons with a distinctive background. You can interpret that however you like.
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
All of my toons are original concepts that I create and have their own unique backstory. I happen to think that people have imaginations for a reason and should use them liberally. (Editor's note - bolded this one section because it comes off as rather insulting)
[/ QUOTE ]
Yanno, I'm not sure where I got it either. How terribly odd.

All he was saying was that he creates his own stories for his characters, and likes to be creative. Interpreting that to mean he thinks he is special is taking his statements way out of context. Everyone who creates stories for their characters is using original concepts with unique backstories (except perhaps the rare case where two stories coincidentally happened to be the same). That doesn't make them more special than anyone else, nor should their stories necessarily be placed on some pedestal.
Now, I happen to agree that one can still be creative with the MA as it currently stands. However, I don't think it is fair to paint the OP as if he is asking for customization features because his creations are so incredible that he, above anyone else, deserves them. He is asking for the features for the same reason people kept asking for power customization, because he wants more control over what he creates.
And I personally do hope that certain advances are made, particularly in the areas of branching missions and transitions from one mission to another (i.e., being able to exit one mission and go directly to another).

Forget it Doorknob...there are people who will constantly look for insults and negative meanings in every statement that doesn't happen to say what they want to hear.
I stopped trying to justify my viewpoint in this thread. The insanity level went a bit too high for my liking.
That was poor wording on my part. What I meant is that they made a log of an actual exploit (mito) but not of the removal an object that probable invalidated several actual stories.
